Tanner Foust Sets Fast Qualifying Time for New Hampshire Global Rallycross Championship Event

Tanner Foust set fast time in the Global Rallycross Championship (GRC) qualifying session Friday night at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon followed closely by Ken Block and Travis Pastrana.
Foust drove a lap of 39.203 seconds around the nearly 1-mile layout that includes a 70-foot gap jump and a table-top jump to put his No. 34 Rockstar Energy Etnies Ford Fiesta atop the time sheet for the SilverStar zXe GRC event.
By being quickest in qualifying, Foust earned lane choice for his heat race tonight, where all the cars in the heat will start side-by-side. Heats consists of three, four-lap races, and the first driver to complete all four laps, including the “Joker” lap – a longcut from the regular course that can only be used once and is a key component of race strategy – is declared the winner and earns one championship bonus point.
“It was really kind of a fun lap,” said Foust, GRC championship point leader and host of History Channel’s Top Gear. “I took it fairly easy on...

Subaru Drivers’ Rotten Luck In GRC Continues At X Games

Many American rally fans recognize Subaru as the pre-eminent manufacturer of rally cars in the world, given the long-standing successes of Imprezas both home and abroad. That good fortune hasn’t translated into results in the Global Rallycross Championship this year, however, as rival manufacturer Ford has been burning up the time charts and snapping up the majority of podiums all season.
In fact, not until Sverre Isachsen’s dive-bomb into the first turn of his heat race from the outside lane at X Games had a Subaru been in position to win a heat race, which the three-time defending European Rallycross champion eventually did. But from there, everything seemingly went downhill.
The bad luck began as early as the very first heat, when contact with Ken Block helped rip off the front end of team leader Dave Mirra’s car. The damage was so deep that when Mirra went out for his last chance qualifier run, he had to pull off almost immediately, his car rendered useless. He finished a d...

The Incredible History Of The Muppets, Sesame Street, And Our Favorite Athletes

[Ed. note - In celebration of this week's theatrical release of The Muppets, here's our thing about Muppets. If you haven't seen it yet, you're in for a treat.]
We’re still a few months away from the release of The Muppets, starring and written by Jason Segel, but my excitement couldn’t be higher. Hold on, I’m receiving a breaking news message… *squirrel in a hot air balloon drops a note tied to an acorn on the table* … it appears that The Muppets also stars Rashida Jones and Mila Kunis, so I may have an awesome heart attack soon. In the meantime, it’s Friday and now I’m all Muppety, so what the hell can I do to resolve this?
Thankfully, while looking for something completely unrelated yesterday, I stumbled across the Muppets Wiki site and started perusing the history of the happiest shows of my childhood – The Muppet Show and Sesame Street. Eventually I realized that a lot of athletes have been told how to get to, how to get to Sesame Street over the past 42 year...
