Kielty may leave Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox may lose reserve outfielder Bobby Kielty. Kielty re-signed with the team in the off-season knowing he'd only have a roster spot if Coco Crisp was trade. So the potential of losing him is no surprise to either side. The Red Sox have offered an assignment at AAA-Pawtucket and are hoping he accepts the offer.

Red Sox Fashion Police: White House

Your day is not complete until you've read a thorough dissection of the Red Sox fashion choices during their White House visit yesterday.

There were enough pinstriped suits to costume an episode of the Sopranos, Bobby Kielty looked like a shop teacher stuck in the '70s, and David Ortiz carried what looks suspiciously like a MAN PURSE.

Kielty's Return Hinges On Crisp

Odds are that Coco Crisp will be traded in the coming weeks for a player or players that will help the Red Sox for the 2008 season. If that happens, odds are Bobby Kielty could return to the Red Sox as the fourth outfielder.

MLB Salary arbitration figures

"NEW YORK -- A total of 106 players filed for salary arbitration Jan. 12 (x-free agent who accepted arbitration). Players and teams exchanged proposed salaries Tuesday if they couldn't come to agreement on a 2007 contract."

For those who care...It's actually an interesting list if not just to see what specific players were making in 2006.

What A Mess We've Macha'd

If you're like everyone else on the planet that was confused when Ken Macha got axed after taking the A's to their first ALCS under Billy Beane's GM watch, read this '6-4-2' post that discusses the moves that got him Macha'd.

Can you believe Mark Kotsay? They must have really had it in for Ken Macha.

Early favorites to become the A's new skipper are Angel pitching coach Bud Black, third base coach Ron Washington and bench coach Bob Geren.

A better way to visualize hitters' stats.

As I was poring over 2006 stats for the A's, something hit me. The lines of numbers that I was looking at weren't really giving me an easy visual comparison. I wanted to know how the hitter's numbers stacked up against his teammates, and the league averages. It wasn't easy to just glance at the numbers and see it right away.

So I came up with this system.
