Bison's cut veterans Wily Mo Pena, Javier Valentin & Bobby Kielty

I'm not really sure how this makes sense, but I guess I can't see the big picture. The Buffalo Bison's have announced that they have released Wily Mo Pena and Javier Valentin.Valentin has been on the disable list since June 15th with a shoulder strain, prior to that he hit .260 while catching, playing 1B, 3B and left field. Many speculated that he would have been called up instead of Fernando Martinez if he hadn't injured his shoulder. As many who read this blog are aware, I wou...

Mets bring 10 North

It may feel like the end of spring training but technically rosters don't have to be trimmed until after Saturday's second exhibition game. The Mets have decided to carry 10 extra players for these two games, most of them are players who will see time with the major league team at some point this season and need to get a feel for Citi Field....Pitchers Dillon Gee, Mike Antonini, Nelson Figueroa, Ken Takahashi and Jose Sanchez, catchers Josh Thole and Omir Santos, and position players ...

Starters cont. to struggle

Another day and another starter struggles, I hope they get it all out of their systems in spring training otherwise we won't need our vaunted bullpen. It sure is quite a statement when the guy called inventory at the start of spring is now pitching like the second best starter on the team. Johan Santana looks brilliant and Livan Hernandez keeps chugging ( seemed like a fitting adjective) along but the rest of the rotation is all over the place. Just two starts ago Pelfrey looked like a 1A...

Mets sign Bobby Kielty

Mets signed 32 y/o switch hitting OF and 1B Bobby Kielty to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training. Kielty has been a weak hitting defensive specialist, although in 2006 he hit .270 in 80 games. He has always hit lefties well, batting .296 with a .379 OBP and is a much better ...

Kielty may leave Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox may lose reserve outfielder Bobby Kielty. Kielty re-signed with the team in the off-season knowing he'd only have a roster spot if Coco Crisp was trade. So the potential of losing him is no surprise to either side. The Red Sox have offered an assignment at AAA-Pawtucket and are hoping he accepts the offer.

Kielty's Return Hinges On Crisp

Odds are that Coco Crisp will be traded in the coming weeks for a player or players that will help the Red Sox for the 2008 season. If that happens, odds are Bobby Kielty could return to the Red Sox as the fourth outfielder.
