Top 5 Multiple-Pick Rounds in Pittsburgh Steelers Drafts Since 2000 (Part 2 of 2)

In case you missed it, we’re counting down the five best multiple-pick rounds in Pittsburgh Steelers drafts since Kevin Colbert started running the draft in 2000.
After revealing No. 4 and No. 5 in Part 1 of this series (click here), we’ll unveil the top three here.
Prosportstransactions.com was used for information on draft trades.
3. 2002 Seventh Round
The Steelers likely will continue to reap the benefits of the 2002 draft in 2013. Seventh-rounder Brett Keisel figures to be with the Steelers for at least another year.
Keisel began making an impact in 2005 with three sacks. He became a starter at defensive end the following year. He’s had 25 career sacks, broken up 31 passes, forced six fumbles and recovered seven fumbles in his career.
Keisel made the Pro Bowl and helped the Steelers get to the Super Bowl in 2010.
The Steelers’ third-best multiple-pick round of the Colbert era also comes with subtle infamy. Before taking Keisel with the 242nd pick, the Steelers traded kicker Kris...

Vikings adding guard depth with Olsen

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. The Minnesota Vikings added offensive line depth Tuesday, agreeing to terms of a deal with guard Seth Olsen, according to the team's Twitter account.
Olsen, 27, played the last two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, starting five games during that time. A Willmar, Minn. native, Olsen spent the 2010 season on Minnesota's practice squad, but was among the team's final cuts in 2011.
The Vikings needed to add depth to the line after losing unrestricted free agent Geoff Schwartz last week in free agency. Minnesota will return its starting offensive line intact next season with left tackle Matt Kalil, left guard Charlie Johnson, center John Sullivan, right guard Brandon Fusco and right tackle Phil Loadholt returning.
The Vikings re-signed Loadholt last week just before he was set to become an unrestricted free agent. Minnesota also re-signed Joe Berger, who can play center and guard as the main backup inside. Third-year offensive tackle DeMarcus Love is also expected back after mi

Rookie safety Delano Howell was signed to the Indianapolis Colts' active roster from the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills. Howell entered the league as an undrafted free agent from Stanford. He played in one game with the Bills and was waived, then re-signed, twice. Offensive guard Seth Olsen was cleared to return to practice, but remains on injured reserve. Olsen has played in 12 career games, including the first three games of the 2012 season with the Colts before he was placed on injured reserve Oct. 8. The Colts have three weeks to determine whether to activate Olsen.

Analysis of Week 6 Roster Moves – Offense

With a bevy of roster moves this week, it is probably best to look at them in a few different articles to give them the proper amount of analysis.
First, let’s take offense.
The Colts this week have sent OG Seth Olsen to Injured Reserve (with the “Designated to Return” label) and waived TE/FB Dominique Jones. Two players who have seen significant snaps and both started games for the Colts this season.

So, as we can see, it was all subtraction of personnel on the offensive side of the ball but let’s take a look at possible gameday adjustments that are likely to occur to help compensate.
With Olsen going to IR-DTR, he should be able to return to the active roster, provided he’s healthy, after 8 weeks on the shelf. The Colts apparently value his experience and ability to use this designation for him as they can only use this new roster management tool with 1 player per season.
It certainly seems the value him more than the internet community as Olsen has become one of the more p...

Colts Release TE Dominique Jones; Place OG Seth Olsen On IR

The Indianapolis Colts yesterday announced that they had released tight end Dominique Jones, signed wide receiver Kris Adams to the practice squad and placed offensive guard Seth Olsen on injured reserve with a designation to return later this year, thanks to the new IR rules.
In four games (starting one), Jones caught one pass for eight yards (Luck's first completion and attempt of his career) and wasn't as impressive at blocking either.
Seth Olsen started at left guard in the Colts' first three games in place of the injured Joe Reitz, before injuring his knee in the loss against Jacksonville. He was placed on IR with a designation to return later this year, per the new IR rules. According to Pro Football Talk, Olsen can return to practice after week 11 and can play again after week 13.
Indy faces Green Bay without 2 defensive starters

The Indianapolis Colts will play Green Bay without linebacker Pat Angerer, cornerback Vontae Davis and offensive guards Joe Reitz and Seth Olsen.

All four are inactive Sunday.

Angerer (fractured right foot) and Reitz (knee) have not played since the preseason opener. Olsen (knee) replaced Reitz in the lineup and started the first three games. Davis left the Jacksonville game early with an ankle injury.

Also inactive for the Colts are quarterback Chandler Harnish, cornerback Justin King and running back Mewelde Moore.

Green Bay had already announced receiver Greg Jennings wouldn't play because of a groin injury. He'll be joined on the sideline by receiver Jarrett Boykin, defensive end Mike Daniels, cornerback Davon House, linebacker Terrell Manning, safety Sean Richardson and running back James Starks.

Matchups of the Week: Jaguars

As the Week Three game against the Jaguars approaches, the Colts will be gameplanning specifically for this week's mactchup. As we approach each game, we'll be looking at just one of the many possible matchups for the gameColt
As always, there are plenty of matchups we could spotlight, but the one that is the most intriguing to me is the continuing development of the interior offensive line. So, this week's matchup is Seth Olsen, Mike McGlynn, and Trai Essex versus Tyson Alualu, C.J. Mosely and Terrance Knighton.
So far this season, the Colts interior line has struggled immensely. Seth Olsen has been the bane of Colts fans' existence, Mike McGlynn nearly caused the Colts several turnovers last week with terrible snaps, and Trai Essex is an accident waiting to happen.
In terms of breaking down each player, the performances have been inconsistent at best.

McGlynn has been the most impressive of the two (read: least harmful) for the Colts, performing at about a...

Offensive Line Depth Concerning for Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis Colts’ general manager Ryan Grigson has done an incredible job rebuilding the Colts’ roster practically from scratch. But one off season isn’t enough to address the depth issues facing the team as they go into 2012.
Particularly, the depth along the offensive line is of great concern. That will already be an issue in game one as starting guard Joe Reitz is a scratch for Chicago, moving Seth Olsen into his place. With the team needing to keep Andrew Luck upright to succeed, any crack in their pass protection holds the potential for disaster.
Olsen played extensively for the Colts in the injury-plagued 2011 season, including a start in Tennessee. There, Olsen was vastly outmatched by the Titans’ defensive line.
Tomorrow’s start is important for both the Colts and for Olsen. The Colts know they must keep Luck healthy to win. If Olsen can’t keep his quarterback clean, it will be a long Sunday in Chicago. For Olsen, this could be his last chance to impress. He’s still with t...

Olsen bringing water to Uganda

Colts guard Seth Olsen just returned from a 10 day mission to Uganda that changed some lives:

"Between the bush and the villages, the people have no access to education about safe water. So they teach people in the villages, who in turn become trainers for the rest of the people who live there. That way, it has lasting effect."
The centerpiece of the mission was drilling a new well in Alyet Village, whose residents previously had to walk five kilometers to the nearest water source. And that water carried diseases including typhoid fever, yellow fever and hepatitis, as well as causing diarrhea that was all too often fatal.
"In the states, we don't usually take diarrhea that seriously, because we have access to medicine and we drink clean water," Olsen notes. "But it's one of the biggest killers of children under five in the developing world."
