Steelers RB Isaac Redman Says Locker Room Just Wasn’t The Same Last Season

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman was a guest Monday morning on 93.7 The Fan and he talked about his off-season, the upcoming OTA session and several other team related topics in addition.

With the Steelers drafting Michigan State running back Le'Veon Bell in the second round last month in addition to adding free agent running back LaRod Stephens-Howling to the roster a few weeks ago, Redman was asked to give his thoughts on what those additions do to his mentality heading into the 2013 season.

"It just makes you work even harder," said Redman, who was originally signed by the Read more [...]

Pittsburgh Steelers Draft RB Le’Veon Bell In The 2013 NFL Draft

2.16 Pittsburgh Steelers Le’Veon Bell, RB, Michigan State (6-1, 230)
With the 16th pick in the second round of the NFL Draft, the Steelers selected RB Le’Veon Bell out of Michigan State. It’s hard to imagine a more perfect fit for a skill position player in this draft. Bell is, hopefully, exactly what the Steelers need to give that offense some much-needed balance.
Without a skilled back that can make defenses honest, Ben Roethlisberger and company have taken a beating the past couple of seasons. With the pick of Bell, Ben shouldn’t be under nearly as much pressure. Even though the Steelers still have Jonathan Dwyer, Isaac Redman and newly signed LaRod Stephens-Howling, Bell should be promoted to starter shortly after training camp opens. He’s a three down back with the size to pound up the middle but also the skills to bounce out and lineup at slot. He isn’t the fastest guy on the field but is quick for as big as he is. I really think when all is said, Bell could be the best produc...

Steelers Unlikely To Keep Both Dwyer & Redman After Drafting Bell

Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers have drafted Michigan State running back Le'Veon Bell in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft, there is now a decent chance that either Jonathan Dwyer or Isaac Redman won't make the final 53 man roster.

Both Dwyer and Redman were restricted free agents this offseason and each signed one-year tenders worth $1.323 million, which are not guaranteed.

There was a report on Saturday that suggested the Steelers were attempting to trade Dwyer during the draft, but that never came to fruition, as expected. The Steelers former sixth-round draft pick would likely be Read more [...]

Isaac Redman Signs One Year RFA Tender with Pittsburgh Steelers

The last of the Pittsburgh Steelers restricted free agents has signed with the team. According to Rotoinfo Isaac Redman has signed his one year restricted free agent tender with the Steelers. Heading into the off-season the Steelers had five restricted free agents Emmanuel Sanders, Steve McLendon, Isaac Redman, Jonathan Dwyer and Stevenson Sylvester.
All of those players were offered a tender except for Sylvester who the Steelers allowed to become a free agent. Even so, all five are now back with the Steelers for the 2013 season even though it was a bit more adventurous than we originally thought it would be.
Sanders signed an offer sheet with the New England Patriots and the Steelers waited until the final hours of the decision making time to match the deal. Then McLendon met with the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday and there were concerns about whether or not the Steelers would have the cap space to match another offer sheet.
Instead of waiting around the Steelers took matters into...

Steelers RB Isaac Redman Signs $1.323 Million Restricted Tender

According to the official daily transaction release issued Thursday by the NFL, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman has signed his $1.323 million restricted tender offer and is now under contract for the 2013 season.

The deadline for restricted free agents to receive offer sheets from other teams is Friday.

Redman, who was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Bowie State, rushed for 410 yards and 2 touchdowns last season on 110 carries. He also caught 19 passes for 244 yards in addition.

Steelers RB Isaac Redman & NT Steve McLendon Expected To Sign Tenders This Week

Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers have decided to match the $2.5 million offer sheet given to restricted free agent wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders by the New England Patriots, several are suggesting that they should rescind the $1.323 million tender offer to running back Isaac Redman in order to sign free agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw.

For starters, pulling the tender to Redman only saves roughly $843,000 in salary cap space after displacement takes place. That's not a lot of money in the grand scheme of themes and Bradshaw has yet to come in for his second visit yet to see how the rehab Read more [...]

Redman Claims He Never Got The Chance To Be An Every-down Back After Giants Game

The Pittsburgh Steelers didn't have much success running the football as a whole in 2012, but there were a few games in the middle of the season where they looked like they might be turning the corner.

For example, Isaac Redman rushed for 147 yards on 26 carries in the Week 9 win over the New York Giants, and the Steelers running back claims that he accomplished that on two bad ankles.

"I had a big game against them," Redman told the South Jersey Times. "The ankle injuries were prior to that. I basically played that game with two sprained ankles and performed at a high level. I was fine after Read more [...]

Is Bruce Arians A Threat To Poach Away Steelers RB Isaac Redman During Restricted Free Agency?

Several teams are now just a few weeks into their offseason and there are still a few head-coaching spots left to be filled in addition. One of the candidates for the few remaining open jobs around the league is Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, who of course was the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to being let go around this time last year.

Wherever Arians winds up in 2013, be it with a new team or back with the Colts, you have to wonder if he might just have his sights set on Steelers running back Isaac Redman during the free agency signing period.

Some good news on the injury front at the running back position for the Pittsburgh Steelers as Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review informed me this evening that running back Isaac Redman was indeed back at practice today and worked fully.

Earlier in the day I speculated on a report made by Alan Robinson that Redman might be sidelined again this week because of his hip injury, but it appears that Redman is healthy enough now to throw his hat in the ring for the Steelers tune-up game Saturday against the Buffalo Bills.
