So Daniel Cabrera Was Just That Bad?

It got so bad, most folks guessed that his arm had been demon possessed and required extensive medical treatment.

And now we hear that there was nothing wrong at all, and that scar tissue is to blame for a pitcher who can't hit the broad side of the Chesapeake Bay.

Nationals Would Pounce On Cabrera?

The Nationals could move in on Cabrera keeping him close to his home in Baltimore. However, Cabrera may be more interested in working with a respected pitching coach. The Cardinals could make a play for him knowing that Dave Duncan has worked his magic with several young pitchers. The Padres are another possibility if he is released.A

This story was approved by MLB Rumors.

Orioles To Explore Free Agent Market

Orioles president Andy McPhail said he plans to explore the free agent market to make big time additions to the club. McPhail said he would not pass up talking to guys with geographic ties to the area. With that said, both A.J. Burnett and Mark Teixiera have ties to the Baltimore area and would fill holes in the Orioles lineup. However, Teixeira is looking at a deal around 20-25 million dollars annually. With Miguel Cabrera moving across the diamond, it allows Scott Boras to compare him and Cabrera, both by personal health and stats, to come up with a deal better than his. The Orioles may not be able to support that kind of deal, especially if they want to resign Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis.A

With Burnett, the Orioles will likely non tender Daniel Cabrera, opening a spot in the rotation and saving the Orioles about three million dollars. Burnett makes his offseason home in Baltimore and could be easy to lure to Baltimore if the right deal is out there. According to a source, however, Burnett is having "serious" talks about a contract with the Blue Jays.A

This story was approved by MLB Rumors.

Daniel Cabrera's Triple Crown of Shame

As if things couldn't get worse for the Oriole's noodle-armed pitcher, Daniel Cabrera is likely to win the American League's pitching triple crown.

You know, leading the league in allowed walks, hit batters, and wild pitches.

Quick Hits

There is speculation around baseball that Tony La Russa will leave the dugout for the Front Office and become a General Manager. While it is hard to imagine La Russa in a suit and tie, he would make for a great GM. He knows what it takes to build a good team and is familiar with other GMs and owners. With several openings around baseball, we could see him in a GM role in a couple years.

The Orioles are preparing to shop their players around and are starting with Daniel Cabrera, who has put together a decent year going 8-8 with a 5.24 ERA.

The Diamondbacks are reportedly targeting Casey Blake for third base. That would mean they would move Mark Reynolds to second base.

The Yankees may consider trading Robinson Cano and bringing in someone like JJ Hardy or Rickie Weeks. A Yankee scout has been spotted watching the Brewers lately.

How Bad Has Daniel Cabrera Been For the Orioles This Season?

Bad enough that the team doctor examined him yesterday to check for structural damage. Finding none, they tried to explain how any Major Leaguer could blow so hard without requiring an immediate backiotomy.

Daniel Cabrera's Out-of-Control Suspension

Cabrera throws wild pitches like other hurlers throw change-ups. The entire league knows this, and yet MLB sees fit to punish the guy. The Major League leader in walks, hit batters and wild pitches, he probably couldn't tie his shoes without people in the clubhouse dodging for cover.

Another lovely evening in the Bronx

It's a beautiful day. The sun's shining. The air is fresh. The birds are singing. And the O's beat the Yankees again last night, clinching the three-game series in the Bronx.
Baltimore's in last place, so Oriole fans are forced to savor the season's small pleasures. And this week's wins in New York have been awfully [...]

Game 97: Tigers at Orioles

PREGAME: It will be Nate Robertson and Daniel Cabrera. Cabrera isn't on pace to walk over 100 batters for the first time in history. But he's still walking 4 batters per nine innings. Cabrera typically posted above average K's numbers in his career, but now he's only fanning 5 per nine [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Game 97: Tigers at Orioles", url: "http://www.detroittigersweblog.com/2008/07/game-97-tigers-at-orioles/" });

Terry Francona: Aces…Full.

As of today, the team with the most momentum heading into this week's All Star break is none other than the Boston Red Sox. After a dreaded road trip in which the Sox dropped 7 of 10 games, the team was 5 and a half games from the then first place Tampa Bay Rays. However, with a sweep of Minnesota, taking two of three games against the woeful Orioles, and with a little help from the Cleveland Indians, the Red Sox have managed to climb back atop the standings in the AL East.

Daniel Cabrera Is the New Sidney Ponson

This week I lamented the loss of Sir Sidney, admitting that I root for him, even in Pinstripes.
AccuScore: MLB Waiver Wire Wonders

If you play in a league that starts two catchers, you probably are constantly scouring the waiver wires for a solid number two option. It took a trip to Bed, Bath, and Beyond for AccuScore fantasy expert Tim Williams to decide that the second catcher really doesn't matter. This week's waiver wire wonders gives you better options who will do more for your team than guys like Yadier Molina.

MLB Free Agent Specialty - Week 8

Not quite like MLB fantasy Waiver Wire, this piece examines potentially available players that focus on a specific category. If you need some power, we have a suggestion. If you need some speed, we have a suggestion. If you need some K's, we have a suggestion. Unfortunately, these players will not help your fantasy team (most of the time) outside of the category they are listed.
