They are not the same team that got blown out nearly every week last season during their 10-game losing streak. These Bucs have more fight in them, and that has allowed them to stay in every game. They are essentially just a few plays away from being a perfect 4-0. Right now, things don't look to good for the Bucs to the casual fan. However, there is more to this team than their below .500 record and fans should be excited for the final 12-game stretch that lies ahead. His desire to establish the running game was evident as soon as the Buccaneers moved back into the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft and selected RB Doug Martin. Schiano has had high praise for Martin, comparing him to Ray Rice on several occasions this offseason. He was benched down the stretch for James Lee, but resigned for starter’s money as a free agent in the 2011 offseason, signing a 2 year, 10 million dollar deal. Trueblood was even worse in 2011, starting 15 games, allowing 4 sacks, 5 quarterback hits, and 50 quarterback hurries (most in the league), while committing 7 penalties. This past offseason, he was forced to take a pay cut to stay on the roster, to 4.25 million from 5.25 million, but he was still being paid like a starter. That and the fact that he was just leapfrogged over by Dotson doesn't bode well for Trueblood, who will be a free agent after this season. Dotson is a former college basketball player who has been with the Bucs for the past three seasons as they've tried to turn him into an actual football player. Dotson got significant playing time as a sixth offensive lineman in lieu of a quality blocking tight end on the roster last season, and he looked capable in that role. Dotson has all the physical attributes to be a good offensive tackle, but he's still very raw and struggles with balance and strength, especially in the run game.
