Rovers announce retained list

Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid fate will finally be sealed this week, paving the way for his return to Chelsea.

Real directors have brought forward a meeting to Monday, with the timing of an announcement about Mourinho's departure expected to be discussed.

Mourinho signed a new contract at the Bernabeu last summer after winning the La Liga title but has endured a fractious relationship with players and club chiefs.

He was sent off during Friday's shock 2-1 defeat to derby rivals Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey final - a loss that meant the club finished without silverware.

PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti is in line to replace him but Real bosses must first decide whether Mourinho takes charge of the final two games of the season or leaves before Saturday's visit to Real Sociedad.

Interim Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez has long intimated that Mourinho would be back at Stamford Bridge next season and dropped another hint during his final Cobham press conference on Friday.

Asked if he had any advi

2013 Season Preview:Reviewing the Pacific Division's Offseason

It’s been a loooooong time since free agency started for this NHL season and I’m sure fans have forgotten a few moves here and there. I thought I’d take a look back at what the teams in the Pacific Division did (besides the Stars) during the offseason just to remind Stars fans on the situation and what the division is going to be like this year.

	Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks were very busy during the offseason and took on some significant contracts.

Major signings included defensemen Sheldon Souray and Bryan Allen and forward Daniel Winnik. They also got a boost when Teemu Selanne decided he would return for at least one more season.

While they did make a few big moves, the Ducks lost a couple of key pieces in free agency as well. Highly coveted defenseman Justin Schultz decided to jump ship and landed in Edmonton while Sheldon Brookbank left for Chicago.

The Ducks also traded Stars killer Lubomir Visnovsky to the New York Islanders for a 2nd-round pick.

Scouting the Chicago Wolves

The Charlotte Checkers kick off their first home series of the year today when they take on the Chicago Wolves in the first of a two-game set. The Wolves (6-0-1-0)are currently ranked first in the Midwest Division with 13 points and are tied for 2nd in the Western Conference. While these two teams have similar records, the Checkers have a much larger goal differential with a +13 compared to the +2 the Wolves have right now. The Checkers goal differential is inflated thanks to their weekend sweep against the Peoria Rivermen a week ago when they outscored them 10-0. Charlotte has made a habit out of getting into a lot of high scoring games this year, so they have a few blowouts on their record right now that definitely help out their goal-differential. Regardless, the Wolves are going to be their toughest test of the season thus far.

2012-2013 NHL Season Preview

Previewing the 2012-2013 NHL Season
We are less than two months away from the NHL opener. On Sunday September 23rd, the Ottawa Senators will take on the Montreal Canadiens. This season promises to be exciting as the upstart Los Angeles Kings try to defend their first Stanley Cup title. During the off season the Kings signed Jonathan Quick to a 10 year contract extension through the 2022-23 season as well as Dwight King to a two year contract. It’s clear the defending champs want to make a run at a dynasty but with a lot of big name faces in new places it will be difficult. Here’s a quick look at some of the major off season moves in the NHL.

Eastern Conference

The two super powers in the Eastern Conference, the Rangers and Penguins, got better this off season. The New York Rangers acquired stud forward Rick Nash from the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Rangers sent the Blue Jackets centers Brandon Dubinsky (potential fantasy breakout), Artem Anisimov, defenseman Tim Er...

Kings start out hot in win

Going into Game 2 on Monday, the Kings put an emphasis on having a strong start against the St. Louis Blues. The Kings can consider that mission accomplished.

The Kings scored 31 seconds into the first period Monday, the first of four first-period goals as they went on to a 5-2 victory over the Blues in Game 2 of the second-round playoff series in St. Louis.

Sutter since he took over in late-December, given that the Kings had often been tepid in first periods.

For the most part, Sutter has succeeded in turning that around.

In Game 2, the Kings scored four goals in a period for the first time since 1993, which was the season that they reached the Stanley Cup Finals. The Kings' franchise record for most playoff goals in one period is five, which they reached three times (1982, 1990, 1993).

"We got off to a good start," Kings captain Dustin Brown said. "Scoring 30 seconds into the game helps, but we didn't let off the gas at all. We were able to get two late goals that kind of put the

Kings recall taxi squad for playoff run

The Los Angeles Kings have recalled 10 players from the AHL's Manchester Monarchs to serve as a taxi squad following the minor-league club's ouster from the AHL's Calder Cup playoffs. The group includes two players who have seen NHL action for the Kings. Left wing Richard Clune played in 14 games for Los Angeles during the 2009-10 season, recording two assists, while defenseman Jake Muzzin recorded one assist in 11 games for the Kings in 2010-11. The Kings also recalled Tyler Toffoli from the Ottawa 67s of the Ontario Hockey League, fresh off of a 100-point season (52g, 48a) in junior hockey. The Kings' second-round pick (47th overall) from the 2010 draft is one of two players on the taxi squad who played in the OHL this season. Center Andy Andreoff, the team's third-round pick (80th overall) in 2011, had 22 goals and 36 assists in 57 games for the Oshawa Generals. He joined Manchester following the end of Oshawa's season and was recalled to Los Angeles o...

Whale Lose In Shootout, Thomas Gets First Pro Goal

Manchester Monarchs 5, Connecticut Whale 4 (SO)
Hartford, CT, April 13, 2012 - The Whale were defeated by the Manchester Monarchs, 5-4 in a shootout, Friday night at the XL Center before a crowd of 5,639 in the Whale’s last regular-season home outing. Justin Azevedo scored twice for the Monarchs and Patrick Mullen netted the shootout winner to defeat the Whale in a see-saw battle.
The Whale were beneficiaries of the first pro points from Steve Moses, who scored twice for the Whale, and Christian Thomas, who scored once and added an assist.

Maple Leafs’ Tyler Bozak Rounding Up The Boys To See Justin Bieber

Is Toronto Maple Leafs center Tyler Bozak a nut? We’re not really sure because we don’t know a hell of a lot about him, but we’re beginning to think he is.
This is the same dude who was firing assault rifles with teammate Mike Brown in October, shortly after the NHL season had begun. Nothing could go wrong there, right?
Now, Bozak is recruiting his boys to go to a Justin Bieber concert this summer. He hit up teammate Jake Gardiner on Twitter to pose just that question on Thursday.
We’re not sure when the concert is, but apparently the Leafs don’t really have any plans to be playing in June. Although they haven’t been any good in who knows how long (no, I’m not from Toronto), they’re playing well this season. They’re currently second in the Northeast with 35 points, six points behind the Boston Bruins, but hey, getting into the playoffs for a change is probably enough.
Anyway, we’re not really sure what Gardiner thought about the Bieber concert because he didn’t reply.
However, Ray Kau
