Since yesterday seemed to be the 1B rumor day, I thought it only be fitting that I try to recap the multiple players available for the position.The Mets are rumored to be looking for a platoon partner for Daniel Murphy at the position, this plan serves two purposes, get a longer look at Murphy at 1B and not block Ike Davis in 2010...I must acknowledge that I don't like the idea, I've seen enough of Murphy that I believe he is more a Miguel Cairo type player then a starter. Myers returns to roster; Cairo misses the cut

Brett Myers, who last appeared in the Division Series, becomes pitcher No. 12 as the Phillies set their World Series roster this afternoon. Miguel Cairo will be omitted, a nod to Eric Bruntlett's speed and versatility. Bruntlett has had a knack for scoring big runs as a pinch runner. The news also means Antonio Bastardo will stick around the entire postseason. With four games scheduled in an American League city, a lighter bench makes sense.

According to Todd Zolecki (via Twitter) the Phillies' World Series roster will include Brett Myers in the bullpen. He will replace infielder Miguel Cairo on the roster. No other changes from the NLCS roster as of yet.

Thursday, three teams lost games because their managers made terrible, terrible decisions. The Phillies gifted the Rockies a game when their offense failed to show up and made Aaron Cook look half-decent — which he’s not. No wonder the Fightins only scored a pathetic four runs — skipper Chollie Manuel was asleep at the wheel and neglected to put Miguel Cairo into the game until the 7th inning. Now I didn’t realize Miguel Cairo was still alive, much less on the Phillies — but I’m not the manager of the Phillies, am I? That’s the kind of **** Charlie Manuel gets paid to know. The Phillies placed IF/OF Greg Dobbs on the 15-Day DL, with a strained calf. IF/OF Miguel Cairo was recalled from Lehigh Valley (AAA). Antonio Bastardo was moved from the 15-Day DL, to the 60-Day DL, opening a spot on the 40-Man roster for Cairo. Dobbs was the fourth outfielder in June (1.008 OPS in 40 PA) and July (.739 OPS in 51 PA), but has been relegated to the fifth outfielder role, since the acquisition of Ben Francisco.
