Exclusive Interview: Central Florida SS Kemal Ishmael

Kemal Ishmael of Central Florida is one of the most intense, hard-hitting safeties in the 2013 draft. Ishmael loves nothing better than to fly across the field and pop a ball-carrier. He plays with the reckless abandon of the throw-back safeties like Ronnie Lott, and his idol Sean Taylor. It’s amazing more isn’t said of Ishmael as an NFL prospect when you look at his resume. He was the 2012 Conference-USA Defensive Player of the Year. He capped his senior year with an incredible 124 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions and 4 pass-breakups. Ishmael truly is the definition of a “sleeper”. It was my pleasure to interview Kemal for NFL Draft Zone.
Shaun DePasquale: Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today Kemal. Can you tell me where you’re training for the NFL Draft?
Kemal Ishmael: I have been training in Miami, FL at Bommarito Performance Systems.
SD: What do you feel are your strengths and weaknesses (things you may need to work on)?
KI: I think my strengths are ...

Meet Lindsey Duke – Girlfriend Of Central Florida QB Blake Bortles

Of course the Internet is lacking quality blog posts about college football poon. Three years ago, a hot chick like Lindsey Duke would’ve been an Internet legend. So let’s make her a legend. She’s the longtime girlfriend of Central Florida starting quarterback Blake Bortles and actually has her Facebook open for us to peruse.
What we know: she seemed to get implants at an early age, attends UCF and has a football QB boyfriend.
Bortles, starting his first college game on Saturday, went 13-of-16 for 168 yards, 3 TDs and one INT against Akron in a 56-14 blowout.
In other words, Duke isn’t dating some scrub at New Mexico State. The kid is a legit QB in Conference USA. True, he won’t be able to play in the 2012 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl due to UCF’s sanctions, but he’s starting next week. That’s obviously big news in the girlfriend world. Bragging rights.

Michael Jordan's son fined $250

Marcus Jordan, one of Michael Jordan's sons, has been fined $250 after pleading no contest to disturbing the peace during a disturbance outside a Nebraska hotel last month.

Jordan was in Douglas County Court on Thursday with his attorney, Steve Lefler. Jordan declined to comment.

Jordan was in Omaha for the US Olympic swim trials and was arrested after police responded to a call at a hotel early July 1. When police arrived, hotel security was trying to subdue Jordan as he argued with two women in the hotel driveway.

A police report said Jordan was ''very animated, intoxicated and uncooperative.''

Jordan averaged 13.7 points as a junior at Central Florida last season. He is not returning for his senior season.

UCF keeps big man, but Jordan gone

Central Florida basketball coach Donnie Jones received good and bad news about the quartet of seniors he hoped to have on the court this season.

All-Conference USA big man Keith Clanton told Jones over the weekend that he would return for his final season. Meanwhile, Marcus Jordan, Josh Crittle and C.J. Reed have decided to leave the program, UCF announced Monday.

Jordan, the youngest son of NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan, will continue to take classes at UCF. Reed, a former Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year as a junior guard at Bethune-Cookman, sat out last year after transferring to UCF, and now he is transferring again to Georgia Southern.

Reed's father, Cliff Reed, was hired at Georgia Southern as an assistant earlier this month and also coached his son at Bethune.

Crittle, a 6-foot-9 center, had reportedly recently visited DePaul. But it is unknown if that is where he will transfer.

The UCF seniors were given the option by the NCAA to transfer immediately after the Knights&#39

UCF keeps big man Clanton, loses Jordan, 2 others

Central Florida senior Keith Clanton is returning for his senior season, while fellow seniors Marcus Jordan, Josh Crittle and C.J. Reed have decided to leave the program.

School officials announced the decisions Monday.

The four players were among the UCF seniors given the option by the NCAA to transfer immediately after the Knights' basketball and football programs were hit with sanctions for major recruiting violations. They included one-year postseason bans in both sports.

Clanton, a 6-foot-9 forward, was courted by national champion Kentucky and Florida State, among others, after the penalties were announced July 31.

School officials say the decision of Jordan, son of Michael Jordan, was unrelated to the penalties. He'll continue to take classes at UCF.

Reed will play at Georgia Southern. Crittle's plans are not yet known.

Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus Jordan, will not be playing basketball at UCF

Marcus Jordancredit: US Presswire
It must be tough to be the son of the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan. The expectations are enormous, and it’s pretty much impossible to live up to them no matter how good you become. Everyone wants you to be like your dad, which is quite the tall task.
Marcus Jordan, the son of Michael Jordan, proved to be a pretty good player. He played at Division One University of Central Florida, and averaged 14 points per game. Put it in perspective, as not many people get to be a solid contributor to a Division One team. That being said, he’s no Michael.
Well, now, his basketball career might be over.
Reportedly, Marcus Jordan will not be playing at UCF next season.
Marcus Jordan, the youngest son of Michael Jordan, has decided not to play at the University of Central Florida next season. Jordan was second on the Knights in scoring as a junior, averaging 13.7 points per game. Via the Orlando Sentinel: “Jordan is going to take classes at the university, but he won’t be playing for the Knights
It doesn’t say exactly the reason why he decided not to play. Maybe he was pushed to play because of his father, and never really enjoyed it. Or maybe there is a personal reason that is none of our business.
Whatever the reason, it would be interesting to gather Michael’s take on it.
Anyway, we wish Marcus Jordan nothing but the best, whether he is on or off the court.

Marcus Jordan reportedly won’t play senior season for UCF

Marcus Jordan, the son of Michael Jordan, reportedly has decided not to play his senior season for Central Florida.
There was speculation that Jordan would not play at the school for his senior season after he did not participate in summer workouts with his teammates. The Orlando Sentinel points out that Jordan may have been leaning toward not playing after losing two friends from the team. Jordan’s older brother, Jeff, left the team in January, and best friend A.J. Rompza finished his career. UCF was also hit with a postseason ban last month that may have contributed to Jordan’s decision.
CBS Sports’ Jeff Goodman reported the news and says Jordan is still scheduled to take classes at the school despite not being interested in playing ball for UCF. Goodman also accounts for the possibility that Jordan could decide to play ball for another school. All UCF basketball players are allowed to transfer without penalty from the NCAA.

Marcus Jordan arrested

The greatest basketball player of all time looks to have another issue on his hands other than trying to bring the Bobcats back to respectability.
His son Marcus was arrested earlier today outside of a hotel, according to the Washington Post. According to the report, Marcus was “very animated, intoxicated and uncooperative, and it took multiple officers to control and handcuff him.”
Marcus Jordan is a rising senior for the University of Central Florida team, where he averaged 14 points per game.
This comes weeks after his reported conversation via twitter with a porn star that became public news when he tweeted at the female, rather than direct message her.
Michael now has to deal with this arrest of his son, which comes just a few days after his team selected Michael Kidd-Gilchrist second overall in the NBA Draft.
The Jordan family just seems to get more interesting by the day!

Michael Jordan's son may not return to UCF

Marcus Jordan's days at the University of Central Florida may be numbered. According to a report, the Knights senior guard and son of NBA legend Michael Jordan is no longer with the UCF program and is not expected to return to the team this fall.

According to sports gossip site TerezOwens.com, Jordan, 21, is not expected to play next season as he, "wishes to pursue a career on his own." According to the report, Jordan could still decide to return to the team this fall, but if he did so, it would be as a walk-on, rather than a scholarship player.

In a statement given to Bright House Sports Network, the UCF athletic department denied the report, telling the station's David Baumann that Jordan is not registered for summer classes, but that "summer is not mandatory (and) we expect him back in the fall."

UCF head coach Donnie Jones had previously told the Orlando Sentinel that Jordan was expected to enroll in summer classes.

Jordan, who averaged 13.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists last season, leading the Knights to a 22-11 record and an NIT berth, has been embroiled in his share of controversy since his career at UCF started in 2009.

In August 2010, Jordan bragged on Twitter about spending more than 50,000 in one day partying in Las Vegas, leading to an investigation by Nevada regulators into whether any underage drinking or gambling took place.

More recently, Jordan caught fire for accidentally propositioning a porn star on Twitter with a public post that was meant to be a direct message.

There is no indication that either incident is related to the TerezOwens.com report regarding Jordan's future with the program, and there has also been speculation that the team, suffering from a reduction in scholarships as a result of an ongoing NCAA investigation, may have asked Jordan to play his senior season as a walk-on, as his family could afford to pay tuition at the public university in Orlando.

Michael Jordan's oldest son leaves UCF team

Jeff Jordan, the oldest son of Michael Jordan, is leaving the Central Florida basketball team for what he says are ''personal reasons.''

The school announced the decision Saturday night but did provide further details.

The senior guard didn't travel with the team for its 81-63 win at East Carolina Saturday night. Jordan's younger brother and Knights guard Marcus Jordan, a junior, remains with the team.

Jeff Jordan walked on at Illinois and played three seasons before transferring to UCF after the 2009-10 season. He was playing his first season with the Knights after sitting out a season because of NCAA transfer rules.

He appeared in 13 games this season, averaging 2.7 points and 1.8 assists.

Michael Jordan’s Son Jeff Jordan Leaves UCF Program

Michael Jordan’s son and former Illini point guard Jeff Jordan is done with UCF college basketball, the school announced in a statement late Saturday.
“We wish Jeff nothing but the best in the future,” UCF head coach Donnie Jones said in the UCF athletics news release. “We appreciate his contributions to our program and he will always be a member of the UCF basketball family.”
No specific reason was given for why Jordan left the team. Given that he’s a senior, and has zero pro potential, this is probably the last we’ll hear about him in a high profile hoops sense.
Jordan’s younger brother, Marcus Jordan, the one who’s way better at basketball will stay on the team; where he is the Knights’ leading scorer.

Jeff Jordan went from walk-on to scholarship at Illinois, but never really accomplished much. He was a decent defender and played some serviceable back up point guard minutes.
He did very little at Central Florida as well- averaging 2.7 points, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 reb...

Marcus Jordan scores 28 for UCF

Marcus Jordan tied a career-high with 28 points and his brother, Jeff, added nine points and six assists to help Central Florida defeat North Carolina A&T 77-65 Tuesday night.

Keith Clanton had 13 points, P.J. Gaynor added 11 points and Isaiah Sykes had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Knights (7-2). North Carolina A&T (4-6) was led by Marc Hill with 17 points and Jean Louisme with 12.

The Jordan brothers, sons of Hall of Famer Michael Jordan, helped the Knights hold off a late rally. The Aggies cut a 13-point halftime deficit to 66-60 on Louisme's 3-pointer with 4:47 left, but they missed their next three shots and turned it over once to kill the rally.

Marcus Jordan got 17 of his points in the first half, including four 3-pointers, as the Knights outscored the Aggies 24-5 in the final 8 minutes for a 39-26 halftime lead.

Michael Jordan’s Son Has MJ Blood with Clutch Gene

Marcus Jordan is definitely Michael Jordan’s son…Marcus was headed to the foul line for two big shots when a teammate gave him a pep talk “He told me this shot is in my blood,” Jordan said. Michael Jordan was on hand to see his son sink two big free throws to give Central Florida the lead with 3:11 left and the Knights upset No. 4 Connecticut 68-63 in the semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis, snapping the Huskies’ 16-game winning streak…Michael has to be proud that his ‘Jordan Blood’ worked. -TO
