Marshall adds Notre Dame

Notre Dame extended it's second offer to a true cornerback in the 2015 class when they offered defensive back Iman Marshall of Long Beach (Calif.) Poly on Wednesday. Marshall's dad, Tony, talks about the significance of being offered by Notre Dame and what factor will be No. 1 in his son's decision.

Shooting Bottle Rockets At The Moon Part 2

Eddie Vanderdoes is causing quite the stir within the Notre Dame fanbase right now. You all know the story, and most of you should also know the different routes that this story may end up taking over the next month or couple of months.

Honestly, no matter the outcome, none of this is a good thing. It sucks.

I have some thoughts about the situation and thus I break out the podcast machine to spill my beans.

Notre Dame Tight End Jake Golic Transferring To Cincinnati

und.com
Notre Dame tight end Jake Golic, son of ESPN’s Mike Golic, will be transferring to the University of Cincinnati for his final year of eligibility. Golic graduated from ND this past year, and therefore will be able to play for the Bearcats immediately.
His father announced his son’s decision on his radio show, “MIke & Mike in the morning”.
Jake himself then tweeted out the news:

Can’t thank the ND family enough for all the love and support over the last 4 years at ND. You have made it a pleasure to be Irish!
— Jake Golic (@JGolic88) May 21, 2013

With that being said, I am incredibly excited about the opportunity of attending the University of Cincinnati and being a #bearcat!
— Jake Golic (@JGolic88) May 21, 2013
Golic played sparingly in his time with the Irish, making appearances in just four games in his four seasons. He’ll surely be looking to make a bigger impact at Cincinnati this upcoming season.

Jake Golic Coming to Cincinnati

Jake Golic is the son of Mike Golic. Like his father, Jake played at Notre Dame. Unlike his father, Jake is not going to play at Notre Dame his whole college career. His father announced it on his radio show today, but Jake also tweeted the news that he is transferring to Cincinnati.

That screen cap is from the linked ESPN piece.

Jake is able to play at Cincinnati right away, as he has already graduated. Golic participated in 5 games at ND, 3 of them in 2010 and 2 of them last year. He had no stats as a member of the Fighting Irish.

Jake Golic is listed as a tight end. Will he be a tight end at Cincinnati? Will he contribute stats? Will he play more than 5 games? We don't know any of these things. Jake probably came to Cincinnati in hopes that he will be able to do all of those things and do them very well. I hope that he does because UC has a hole at tight end with Travis Kelce being on an NFL roster and all.

Best of luck to Jake Golic.

Isis Taylor Is Trolling Notre Dame’s Louis Nix III For Losing In The BCS Title Game

Isis Taylor is fully integrating herself into the college football trash talk wars. Last week, after a top recruit named Elisha Shaw accidentally tweeted out a photo that showed he was viewing a “movie” of the porn star, Taylor took the opportunity to do some recruiting for her USC Trojans:

Hey Elisha Shaw…. Wanna #fighton #trojan
— Isis Taylor (@IsisTaylor) May 16, 2013
A few days later, Taylor was on the offensive again, this time going after Louis Nix III, a Notre Dame defensive tackle. For those unaware, the Irish are one of the Trojans’ biggest rivals.

@1irishchocolate #fighton #trojanlife
— Isis Taylor (@IsisTaylor) May 19, 2013
Once Nix responded, she went for the knockout blow:

@1irishchocolate u guys failed in CHAMP GAME so no #fighton
— Isis Taylor (@IsisTaylor) May 19, 2013
I guess going 12-1 and reaching the BCS National Championship Game isn’t enough for Miss Taylor.

Report: Top Recruit Eddie Vanderdoes May Already Be Leaving Notre Dame

Twitter
Back in early February, five-star defensive tackle recruit Eddie Vanderdoes chose to play his college football at Notre Dame over UCLA and USC. It was a huge get for the Irish, considering Vanderdoes is a native Californian and had two other viable options if he wanted to play close to home. But it appears it may have been a situation too good to be true.
Multiple reporters indicated last night that Vanderdoes may not actually wind up playing a single down for the Irish – though that’s about the only thing they agree on. According to SB Nation, Lou Somogyi of 247Sports says he has an academic issue. Joe Davidson of the Sacramento Bee, however, exchanged text messages with Vanderdoes’ father, who said it doesn’t have to do with schoolwork.
Others are speculating that he does, in fact, want to play closer to his hometown. But regardless of the reason, Vanderdoes decommitting isn’t all that simple.

Vanderdoes signed a binding contract with Notre Dame. Would need ND to release ...

Nike Kobe 8 ‘Venice Beach'

Skylar Diggins has led a tough life since graduating from Notre Dame.

She was the No. 3 overall pick in the WNBA Draft. She's represented by Roc Nation, who happened to give her a Mercedes for graduation. She signed with Nike (she was an adidas girl in college) and has been seen wearing different Nike Kobe 8 System PE's (purple, yellow).

Earlier today, she showed us the Kobe 8 ‘Venice Beach' seen above.

The Nike Kobe 8 ‘Venice Beach' is set to release this Saturday at Nike Basketball retailers and the Nike Store.

Yesterday, the people at Roc Nation celebrated Diggins's graduation from Notre Dame by doing exactly what you'd expect an agency that boasts Jay-Z as a figurehead to do: they surprised Diggins with a brand new Mercedes Benz.Read more… , http://juicedsportsblog.com/sports-news/news/skylar-diggins-got-a-mercedes-from-jayzs-sports-agency

2014 NFL Draft: Prince Shembo

I came into the 2014 NFL draft season with some pre conceived notions on what certain prospects were, and that’s never a good thing.
I knew that Jadeveon Clowney would draw out some incredible hyperbole from around the web, and that came to fruition early and often already.
The internet would proclaim that this class of quarterbacks was undoubtedly better than the 2013 class, despite not knowing the entire list of prospects that will enter the draft in 2014 as well as not knowing how the 2013 class faired.
The rest? Well that’s hopefully to come out over the next 11 months as we prepare for the 2014 NFL Draft, by looking at some prospects to get prepped for the 2013 college football season.

Prince Shembo, OLB Notre Dame
6-2 255lbs

A workhorse in an outstanding, if not slightly overrated 2012 Notre Dame defense, the Fighting Irish linebacker was a force against the run in 2012.
He brings fearlessness to the game, and plays with a “swagger” that has been missing from Notre Dame for, well ever.

Skylar Diggins Gets Mercedes from Jay-Z as Graduation Gift (Photo)

College graduation is a day to celebrate accomplishments and toast to the future. Some people may even get thoughtful gifts from friends and family. For former Notre Dame basketball player Skylar Diggins, graduation day will certainly be unforgettable. Diggins currently plays guard for the WNBA’s Tulsa Shock and graduated Sunday from Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. Her agency, Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation, surprised her with quite the gift. Diggins left her graduation ceremonies and was surprised in the parking lot with a brand new white Mercedes, complete with a red bow and a handwritten note from Jay himself. Diggins posted a collage of photos of the car on her Instagram account with the caption, “Got surprised with a new Mercedes!
Notre Dame Football: Irish land big-time OL recruit Alex Bars

Monster offensive line prospect Alex Bars has spurned Michigan and committed to Notre Dame. The 6-foot-6, 287-pound tackle announced his decision via Twitter (@Alex_Bars70) late Friday afternoon.

"I have officially committed to The University of Notre Dame! #playlikeachampiontoday," he tweeted.

Bars, a Nashville (TN) product, is a four-star prospect the No. 9 overall player at his position for the class of 2014 (247Sports). His size and strength alone make him a top-tier recruit, but his unique athleticism and versatility puts him above the pack as a lineman.

Many figured that Bars would join his brother Blake--also an offensive tackle--at Michigan. All nine Crystal Ball experts at 247Sports predicted that he would pledge with the Wolverines, especially after taking back-to-back visits in Ann Arbor during a two-week timespan.

Bars also held offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina and Stanford. He becomes the...

Son of Biff from BTTF an emerging HS star pitcher

Tommy Wilson, the son of the actor who played “Biff” in the “Back to the Future” movies, is emerging as a pitcher for a high school in Los Angeles. Wilson is a junior pitcher for Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) High School, and he threw five scoreless innings during a wild-card playoff game against Riverside North on Tuesday. The youngster struck out eight in the Knights’ 6-1 victory. According to Los Angeles Times high school sports reporter Eric Sondheimer, Wilson started off the season as a long reliever and has gone 3-1 since getting a chance to start a few weeks ago. “I just kept working as hard as I could in the bullpen,” Wilson told The Times. “After I got out of the first inning, I felt real good.” Wilson has been pretty dominant, too. According to his profile on Max Preps, Wilson entered Tuesday’s game with a 1.68 ERA in 33.1 innings pitched. He had allowed just 20 hits, eight runs and eight walks while striking out 44. Wilson’s father, Thomas F. Wilson, apparently kep...

Notre Dame Proposes Second Stadium Expansion in 20 Years

From 1930 to 1996 Notre Dame Stadium remained almost entirely unchanged, significantly increasing capacity only once by changing the average seat size from 18 inches to 17 inches (seriously). In 1997 the school added another ring to the stadium, retaining but obscuring the view of the original facade, blocking Touchdown Jesus' site lines, and expanding capacity from 59,000 to 81,000. With the Irish returning to national relevance and the school considering a "university master plan" that will bring more student activities to the stadium area, Notre Dame is considering their second expansion in less than 20 years.

The school only released one concept drawing (shown above, much larger version HERE), but Notre Dame's plan will increase capacity to approximately 85,000, add luxury boxes and club seating, move the press box, and create separate tunnels for the Irish and visiting teams. Irish alumni have long opposed upgrades including FieldTurf and video boards, so e...
