The University at Buffalo announced Wednesday afternoon that their Black Friday contest versus Bowling Green will be played at Ralph Wilson Stadium, marking the second consecutive year that the annual matchup will be played off campus.
Buffalo is hyping the game as the “Black Friday Clash at the Ralph” and is very excited about playing in the same stadium as the Bills.
“The ability to play a MAC regular season game at Ralph Wilson Stadium provides an outstanding opportunity for us to showcase our football program to a more regional audience ” said UB Director of Athletics Danny White.
White added, “The Friday after Thanksgiving is one of the best college football days of the year and this venue change will provide a new and unique collegiate experience for our program, student-athletes and our fans.”

Christopher excited for jump to XU, Big East

CINCINNATI, OH - Greg Christopher was away from his office at Bowling Green State University about a month ago when he got a phone call from Xaviers Mike Bobinski. Christopher didnt think too much about the message at the time. He and Bobinski had known each other from their time as athletic directors so Christopher figured it was just to talk shop.
The shop talk lasted a few minutes when Bobinski got to the heart of his call.
He said, Well, you know Im going to Georgia Tech. Would you have an interest in coming down here to Xavier? Christopher recalled on Tuesday. It took me about that long to say Yes, absolutely. I have lot of respect for Mike and the work thats been done by the team here at Xavier. This is great opportunity.
Xavier introduced Christopher, 47, as its 11th athletic director Tuesday at the Cintas Center. He will officially begin his duties on May 6. Bobinskis tenure at Xavier ended March 22.
Christopher has been the AD at BG since 2006. He helped bring 60 million in new or renovated athletic

Draft Zone Spotlight: Chris Jones, DT, Bowling Green University

Draft Zone Spotlight: Chris Jones, DT, Bowling Green University
Chris Jones is one of the most aggressive, high motor football players I have seen this year. Why no one is talking more about him amazes me. Chris Jones was a late add to the Raycom All Star Game, and boy did he impress. This kid came into the Raycom game and showed the motor as he was blowing up the offensive lineman. He amazed so many scouts that numerous scouts I talked to wanted to get a second look at the massive defensive tackle. From the Raycom Chris was invited to the Combine where he ran a 5.3 forty and showed that the big man can move. He looked great in his drills and could have solidified himself as a draft pick.
How many teams were recruiting you coming out of high school and how did you make your decision?
There were four teams recruiting me. (BG, Toledo, Ball State and Illinois State) After my visit to BG I fell in love with everything about it.
Who was your favorite NFL team growing up, and did y...

Bowling Green assistant coach quits

Athletic officials at Bowling Green in Ohio say an assistant women's basketball coach has resigned after admitting she had a relationship with a student in the program.

The school confirmed on Thursday that first-year assistant coach Ali Mann resigned last week after it began to look into the relationship.

Athletic department spokesman Jason Knavel says Bowling Green officials believe the relationship was consensual and that no NCAA rules were broken.

Mann was a four-year starter at Bowling Green and was a captain on the Falcons' team that reached the final 16 in 2007.

She still ranks second on the school's all-time scoring list.

Before returning to coach at Bowling Green this season, Mann was an assistant at Colgate and IPFW in Indiana.

Bowling Green coach to meet teens

A judge has ordered two teens accused of scribbling racist graffiti on a sidewalk in front of Bowling Green men's basketball coach Louis Orr's house to meet with him.

Prosecutors said Wednesday they would set up a meeting within a few weeks.

The boys were in juvenile court Tuesday on charges of ethnic intimidation and criminal mischief. Authorities say they wrote ''white power'' and drew a swastika with chalk in front of the black coach's house in October.

Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson says Orr is very interested in talking with the teens.

Orr has been Bowling Green's coach since 2007. His son Chauncey is a starter on this year's team.

The teens are again due in court Feb. 14.

Jon Merrill, Jacob Trouba Paired for Michigan’s Game vs. Bowling Green

Michigan’s slumping hockey team will receive a huge boost on Tuesday night, with Jon Merrill set to make his regular-season debut. Merrill, who played in last Friday’s loss to the U.S. U-18 team, missed the first 19 games of the season with a cracked vertebra in his neck.
He’ll be paired on the blue line, for the game against Bowling Green, with recent World Juniors gold medalist Jacob Trouba, TheWolverine.com’s Michael Spath reported:
Merrill will appear in his first regular-season game all year after missing the Wolverines’ first 19 games after suffering a cracked vertebra in an exhibition contest Oct. 9. He skated on the power play during the Maize and Blue’s 5-3 exhibition loss to the U.S. Under-18 team last Friday, and will go full bore this evening.

Merrill was taken No. 38 overall by the Devils during the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. There was some speculation that he would bolt Ann Arbor after last season to join the Devils’ organization, but instead, he wound up pegged as Michigan’s rock on

Bowling Green 65, No. 15 Dayton 40

Alexis Rogers scored 20 points as Bowling Green handed No. 15 Dayton its first defeat of the season, 65-40 Sunday.

Rogers, a junior forward, has 83 points in her last four games for the Falcons (9-3), who have won six in a row and avenged a 69-38 loss at Dayton last season.

Chrissy Steffen added 16 points and Jillian Halfhill 15 for Bowling Green, and they combined for 12 points during a 19-2 second-half run that gave the Falcons a 55-35 lead with 5:04 left. Steffen, a senior guard, now has 1,007 career points.

The Flyers (12-1) made 1 of 10 shots and turned the ball over six times during that run.

Rogers grabbed 10 rebounds for Bowling Green, which became the first team this season to outrebound Dayton, 43-39.

Samantha MacKay and Kelley Austria scored eight points each for the Flyers, who shot just 25.5 percent (13 of 51).

Annual ‘Battle of I-75′ Between Toledo and Bowling Green Commemorated by Massive Corn Maze

A mere 25 miles separate Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo. The Battle of I-75, the annual football game between the two Ohio schools, is one of the MAC’s fiercest rivalries.
Bowling Green and Toledo first met in 1919, but the rivalry met an abrupt end in 1936 when fans rioted after Toledo routed the Falcons 63-0. The teams didn’t play again until 1948, when they introduced a Peace Pipe trophy to signify the end of ill will between the schools and their fan bases.
Ironically, the Peace Pipe was stolen from the University of Toledo in 1969 and hasn’t been recovered. The schools introduced a new Peace Pipe Trophy in 1980.
Bowling Green-Toledo isn’t as sexy as other Midwestern rivalries such as Ohio State-Michigan or Michigan-Notre Dame, but there are plenty of people in northwestern Ohio who take the rivalry very seriously.
Take, for example, the people of Wheeler Farms in Whitehouse, Ohio, just south of Toledo.
