Total Sports Babes: Boomer Esiason’s Daughter & Matt Martin’s Girlfriend, Sydney Esiason

Ok, so I’m not sure if she’s still dating Islanders player Matt Martin, but she’ll always be Boomer Esiason’s daughter. The Boston College junior is kinda hot. Thanks to a tip from a friend of mine and the internet, we found a few photos of this week’s Total Sports Babe. Check out some pictures of Sydney, who seems to be your typical coed (except for having an NFL legend for a father and a professional hockey player for a boyfriend):

As you’ve seen on WAGs Wednesdays, professional athletes have smoking hot wives. Makes sense that they’d have hot daughters too.

That’s all we have for this week’s edition of Total Sports Babes. Be sure to check back every weekend for more.
If you’d like to be featured in Total Sports Babes, tweet me some pictures/videos of you at sporting events/playing sports. Follow me and contact me on twitter @HookTSB

Boston College Commit Tosses 66-Pitch Perfect Game in First Round of California High School Playoffs

Michael Strem pitched an absolute gem last week in the California Central Coast Section Division I playoffs.
Strem tossed the first perfect game in St. Francis High School history and it took him just 66 pitches to achieve the accomplishment, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Out of Strem’s 66 pitches, 48 were for strikes. He struck out eight batters in seven innings.
The game was knotted at zero-zero until the sixth inning when Strem’s teammate, Mark Cardinalli, knocked in the only two runs of the game on a single. Strem is committed to Boston College, according to his Twitter page.
He’s 10-1 with a 1.12 ERA and 71 strikeouts on the season, according to MaxPreps.com. He’s also batting .400 with a .996 OPS and five stolen bases.

Boston College Football: Eagles receive verbal from 3-star ILB

Steve Addazio is picking up the pieces to Boston College's broken football program quicker than expected.

According to multiple recruiting services, including 247Sports, the Eagles picked up a huge commitment over the weekend with the addition of three-star inside linebacker Connor Strachan.

Strachan is a 6-foot-2, 240-pound prospect from St. Sebastians High School from the home-state of Massachusetts. He is ranked as the No. 17 overall recruit at his position for the class of 2014 and was named the top linebacker at the Rivals Camp last week.

Strachan's straight-line speed is undoubtedly his best attribute. He runs a 4.48 40-yard dash and possesses BCS-caliber athleticism, which is required to play inside.

In his highlight tape provided below, you can see just how quickly Strachan hits the gap and finds the ball. He has excellent footwork and is able to fly to the ballcarrier, where he is almost always a sure-tackler.

Strachan finished with 70 tackles and nin...

BC fans are not teaching our children well

I've read "My Dad Loves Boston College Football" hundreds of times. Any time my son brings it over, I am helpless to resist. Yet today was the first time I realized what a dangerous book it was and how it captures all that is wrong with BC fandom. This cute little children's book is proof that BC's fan issues are "nurture" not nature. Don't believe me? It is right there on the pages. Take a look:For those who can see the text, it reads: "Before the game starts we set up the tailgate. When I'm cooking with Daddy everything is just great." Harmless, right? Now look closer. If you look at the Upper Deck in the background, you will see that the Alumni is full (or nearly full). And this dad is still out at his tailgate throwing the football around and eating. He doesn't care if he is in the stadium at kickoff and he is teaching his son the same thing. Now if you think I am overthinking this, check out the next page:This time the text r...

Report: Mike Cavanaugh Offered UConn Men’s Hockey Job

Mike Cavanaugh/Boston College's official athletics website
Longtime Boston College men’s hockey assistant coach Mike Cavanaugh has been offered the head coaching job at UConn, according to Mike Anthony of the Hartford Courant.
UConn Athletic Director Warde Manuel interviewed three candidates for the job last week: Cavanaugh, UConn interim coach David Berard and former Denver coach George Gwozdecky. It has been speculated that the school was looking for a coach with a Hockey East background as the Huskies prepare to make the jump from Atlantic Hockey after next season.
Cavanaugh has spent the last 18 seasons at Conte Forum with legendary head coach Jerry York, the past nine seasons as associate head coach. During his time behind the bench, Boston College has won four national championships (2001, 2008, 2010, 2012) in 10 trips to the Frozen Four, and has won nine Hockey East Tournament championships. He is considered one of the best recruiters in college hockey. He will need to de...

Boston College Softball Player Makes Over-the-Fence Catch to Rob Home Run (Video)

Move over Mike Trout, Boston College center fielder Maria Pandolfo may have something to teach you about snagging home runs.
During the third inning of BC’s Sunday matchup with Georgia Tech, Alysha Rudnik got ahold of one, sending the ball to deep center. Unfortunately for Rudnik, that’s where Pandolfo plays, as the latter came up with a home-run-saving grab so awesome it even took the camera operator by surprise.
Check out Pandolfo’s amazing catch in the video below.

Video: Boston College Softball Player Makes Absurd Homerun-Robbing Catch

Boston College center fielder Maria Pandolfo may have made the play of the year in college softball last night.
Pandolfo tracked down an absolute laser hit by Georgia Tech’s Alysha Rudnik, ultimately crashing into the wall while hanging onto the ball to make an amazing catch. She was even able to eventually right herself and stay in the field of play.
The camera angle is also pretty cool – it was shot by someone just beyond the outfield.

BC softball player Maria Pandolfo makes amazing catch to rob a homer (Video)

College and high school athletes make just as many spectacular plays as the pros. There just aren’t as many cameras rolling when they do. Fortunately, that was not the case during Sunday’s college softball game between Boston College and Georgia Tech.
BC senior outfielder Maria Pandolfo made an amazing catch to rob a home run during the Eagles’ 12-3 series-sweeping win, and someone standing in center field caught it on camera. You could practically hear the air leaving her lungs as she extended over the wall and somehow pulled the ball back in.
We are used to seeing MLB players rob home runs and make diving catches, but it’s a bonus when we get to see college softball players going all-out and lighting up the highlight reel. Bravo, Maria.

Catch Of The Year Candidate From a College Softball Game

Boston College’s Maria Pandolfo made one of the better catches in any game we have seen this year when her Eagles took on Georgia Tech recently. The video was shot from a center field viewpoint just beyond the fence and it captured Maria jumping over the wall and snagging the would be home run from just a few feet away. Pretty incredible catch and filming effort.

Boston College Set to Host Second Annual ALS Awareness Game for ALS Awareness Month

May is ALS Awareness Month, and Boston College will participate by holding its second annual ALS Awareness Game.
On Saturday, May 4, at 1:30 p.m. ET, Shea Field will be the site of a game between BC and visiting Virginia Tech. Four ALS charities will be in attendance – The ALS Association of MA, Prize4life, ALS TDI, and The Angel Fund — and the proceeds of a 50/50 raffle will be split equally amongst them. BC broke its attendance record last year, with 2,200 attendees at the stadium.
There is also an online auction with proceeds going to the Pete Frates #3 Fund. Frates is a former Eagles baseball captain, and current president of baseball operations, who was recently diagnosed with ALS.
Providence College goalie Jon Gillies makes incredible diving stick save

Just over halfway through the first period during the Providence Friars-Boston College Eagles hockey game, Providence goalie Jon Gillies made this jaw dropping save. The puck was dumped in by Boston College and took a funny bounce off the boards. Gillies who had gone out to play the puck, left Brendan Silk with a completely wide-open net when the puck magically ended up on his stick. Gillies made a desperation diving save across the net and the puck went off his stick. The #20 ranked Friars would go on to beat the #4 Eagles 5-1 on Saturday night, and it seems as though Gillies miraculous save sparked their win.

Providence’s Jon Gillies Makes Incredible Save in Friars’ Win Over Boston College (Video)

You wouldn’t expect the most exciting play in a 5-1 hockey game to come on the defensive end, but that was the case on Saturday. While Providence lit up the scoreboard in a rout of Boston College, it was PC freshman goalie Jon Gillies that stole the show. With both teams still scoreless midway through the first period, Gillies misplayed a carom off the rear boards, leaving a wide-open net for BC’s Brendan Silk. But in a move reminiscent of Tim Thomas in the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals, the young netminder dove across the crease, foiling Silk’s bid with a spectacular stick save. Check it out in the video below.
