Arizona Wildcats’ New Facemask Is in Shape of Team Logo (Photo)

Move over, Oregon Ducks.
For years and years, Oregon has dominated the college football fashion discussion. With seemingly a new jersey for every game on the schedule, the Ducks’ partnership with nearby Nike has certainly garnered it extra attention off the field beyond all that on-field success under Chip Kelly.
Now, however, it looks as if the Arizona Wildcats are poised to give Oregon a run for its money in the garish football uniforms department.
Over the weekend, a company called BadAss Masks tweeted out some pictures of the new facemask it’s working on for Arizona, and the design is pretty unique. The mask has a letter A as a part of the cage, itself, just so no opponent forgets who they are playing.
Check out the Wildcats’ new facemask in the image below.

Oregon football recruiting: Crosby stills the gnash, though young

Imagine a six foot eight, 330-pound spit-dribbling Jim Bob, jut-jawed, scowling, slightly cross-eyed, brain as mushy as day-old grits with red eye gravy, consciousness marinated in red meat, mama love and stripper fantasies, looking like an extra from Django or Deliverance in lumpy clothes.
Then imagine Jim Bob lasting 15 minutes at an Oregon practice. If the blistering physical pace didn't destroy him, the mental demands of flashing play placards every 12 seconds amid crisply orchestrated drills would fry his Toby Keith-addled brain.
Hard to imagine why some Duck fans cling to one tired question like beer suds to a carelessly-washed glass: "Why can't the Ducks recruit any big, dominating, SEC-style offensive linemen?"

The notion should have died when Max Ungar, Geoff Schwartz and Adam Synder started making good money in the NFL. It should have been buried when Kyle Long went to the Bears in the second round of this year's draft. And it should hav...

Eagles wrap up final minicamp under Kelly

It'll be a little quieter in South Philadelphia over the next month.

The sound of loud music pumping through the speakers at the Eagles' practice facility will be silenced now that the team has completed its final minicamp under new coach Chip Kelly.

From practices that sound like hip-hop concerts to everything else, Kelly has invigorated the team with new ideas and a unique system. The former offensive mastermind at Oregon has enjoyed his first spring as an NFL head coach.

But he's got a long way to go to turn this team around after a 4-12 season.

''There's a ton of work,'' Kelly said Thursday. ''There's work every day no matter what. You're never done and you've never arrived so there's always something to do.''

Chip Kelly’s Oregon Legacy Tarnished Over Time

A few years ago, Chip Kelly’s Oregon legacy was a lot easier to outline. There was no Willie Lyles, there was no NFL flirtation, and there was more quick-witted humor than quick-witted piercings for journalists.

A few years ago, we thought Kelly’s destiny would be that of the man who elevated Oregon football and punctuated the Oregon brand to previously undreamt heights. It made sense – a simple, sterling legacy for the straight-shooting coach who talked fast and had an offense that ran even faster.

But things changed very quickly for Kelly in Eugene. First there was the Chip-Flop, a momentous night in January 2012 when Kelly accepted, then turned down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coaching job. In the midst of that, the Lyles scandal exploded, and Kelly lost friends in the media and became more controlling of the program.

No practices open to the media. No injury reports. No real insight into Kelly’s football team or state of mind.

	Kelly’s 2013 NFL merry-go-round sm...

Oregon Video Department Releases 2012 Highlight/Inspirational

Oregon is one program that has made its’ mark on the college football world, as everything from the Ducks selection of hi-tech Nike uniforms, to Chip Kelly’s pace of play has been near to perfect and something to ponder. As coach Kelly has finally departed let the above video be a testament to a 2012 season to remember. The video was released yesterday and is surely something that provoked recruits take some time to think after visiting Eugene. Enjoy as surely I was in need of satisfying my football-watching fix. After all they came within 3 points of probably going to the National Championship Game.
In the end Oregon won the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona 35-17 over Kansas State. Their final record tallied (12-1)

Ron Jaworski doubts Chip Kelly’s offense will work for the Eagles

Chip Kelly ran one of the most deadly offenses in college football during his six seasons as offensive coordinator and head coach at Oregon. Now, all eyes will be on him at the start of the NFL’s regular season to see if that same style of offense can work at the professional level.
Former Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski does not see that happening.
“It’s going to be interesting to see if this style of offense projects to the NFL,” Jaws told Harry Mayes and Nick Kayal on 97.5 The Fanatic earlier this week, via PhillyMag.com. “I’m going to say no. I just don’t see NFL passing concepts in this offense. It’s a movement offense by the quarterback, off the run-action, off the read-action. A lot of short, quick passes, dart routes, bubble screens. Very few plays down the field with NFL passing concepts.”
A lot of people feel that Kelly’s offense could make some noise at the NFL level, especially since he has arguably the most athletic quarterback in the league at his disposal in Michael V...

Jaws questions Kelly's offense

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski believes Chip Kelly’s uptempo offense won’t work in the NFL (Credit: AP Photo) Since Chip Kelly left Oregon for the Philadelphia Eagles, fans and analysts have been wondering whether or not Kelly would bring his uptempo offense to the NFL. Over the last three seasons, Kelly’s offense at Oregon averaged 49.6, 46.1 and 47.0 points per game and in every season with the Ducks he had a top 10 offense. With some fans hoping this high scoring offense will come to the Philadelphia Eagles, one former player does not think that type of offense will work in the NFL. Former Eagles quarterback and current ESPN analysts, Ron Jaworski spoke about Kelly’s offense during an interview with 97.5 the fanatic. “It’s going to be interesting to see if this style of offense projects to the NFL,â€* Jaworski said, via Phillymag.com. “I’m going to say no.â€* Jaworski believes that Kelly will not be able to exploit NFL defenses in the same way he did while at Oregon. â

Beavers and Ducks put Pac-12 focus on Oregon

There's a certain civility to the Civil War baseball rivalry between Oregon and Oregon State.

Since the Ducks brought back baseball in 2009, the rivalry with the Beavers has been growing. But this season both teams are nationally ranked in the top 10 and sit 1-2 in the Pac-12 standings.

The outcome of this weekend's Civil War series between the two teams could lead to the league championship and have postseason implications.

Yet there's no trash talk between the Beavers and the Ducks. Oregon coach George Horton and Oregon State coach Pat Casey agree: This rivalry is really about respect.

Oregon Football Helmet VW Bug sells for $2600

This 1973 VW Bug turned Oregon Ducks football helmet unfortunately doesn’t run, but still should have cost the buyer more than $2,600. For some strange reason the Oregon Athletic Department decided to sell off this awesome helmet car, and did so without much fanfare.
According to the listing:
This car is currently for display purposes only as it currently does not operate and it has not been driven on roads. The item will need to be picked up from the University of Oregon athletic department.
It’s entirely plausible that the buyer is going to sink some more money to get this bad boy up and running and use it to drive to football games in Eugene next year. The football seat covers with the Nike logo are fantastic and so is the vanity license plate that says “QB” on it. Worst comes to worst if you can’t fix it up to drive it, it will make for an awesome display outside your house.

If You Don’t Like The Oregon Ducks, This Is Not Your Time

Every dog has his day, but the Oregon Ducks are in the midst of an unprecedented run of excellence, and if you’re not a fan, that day can’t end soon enough.

Nearly 20 years ago, Phil Knight had a vision for Oregon football, and his money, their effort, and a little good fortune was all they needed to turn that vision into a reality for a program in the infantile stages of a historic resurrection. Yet, no one could’ve thought that that money, that effort, and that good fortune would’ve put Oregon amongst the elite athletic departments in all the college game … and “haters” aren’t down.

Riding the wave of a half-decade’s worth of “elite” football status, the Ducks have not-so-quietly put themselves squarely in the middle of the NCAA’s cream of the crop. The last calendar year has included many success stories, including:

 A #2 ranking in football

A run to the “Sweet 16” for men’s hoops

A women’s cross country national championship

Macklemore performs "Thrift Shop" with Oregon Ducks mascot (Video)

Unless you have been under a rock for the last four months, you have probably the heard the song "Thrift Shop" by Seattle-based rapper Macklemore.

Last weekend, Macklemore had a performance at the University of Oregon and during his performance of "Thrift Shop", the Oregon Duck mascot made an appearance at about the 6:34 mark of the clip.

The video isn't that great but you can tell that the Duck still has some smooth moves:

Will Lyles decision imminent: Oregon will avoid the hammer, free to go back to the business of ...

A decision has been reached in the NCAA's investigation of Will Lyles and the Oregon coaches, and Oregon fans are going to like the result.
Official statements should be in a few weeks or less. Until then, everything is off the record, and the Athletic Department can't comment publicly.
The Ducks will lose one or two scholarships for three years, have some restrictions on recruiting and be placed on probation for five years.
They'll avoid the hammer, penalties like a bowl ban, rescinded titles or vacated wins. Those "looming sanctions" will no longer loom so ominously.
Fans of other schools around the PAC-12 will be moaning that the Ducks got a slap on the wrist, but the ruling feels appropriate and reasonable. The investigation took so long that UO deserves some credit for time served.
For over two years, columnists and color analysts have pounded away with accusations and innuendo, dire predictions of the death penalty, the collapse of Oregon football,...
