AccuScore ACC/Big 10 Challenge Preview - Night 3

After two nights of play the ACC and Big 10 are tied at three wins apiece. Tonight's match-ups lack any real wattage except for the headline game of the event: top-ranked North Carolina takes on No.12 Michigan State at Ford Field, the site of this year's Final Four. Do the Spartans have what it takes to pull off the upset?

Get Off The Big Ten's Back!!

Excuse me, but I don't think you're giving the Big Ten the credit it deserves. Sure, this season hasn't been all that geat, but how about that winning record against the SEC over the last 10 years? Yeah, not too shabby, eh?!?!

The BCS Standings: Why They Were Right...For Once.

I hate the BCS! I hate it with a passion like everyone else. When you have former coaches and the "experts" saying that this system is beyond flawed and wrong every week, you got to go with the majority sometimes. But for the first time ever, the BCS...actually got it right this time.

And thanks to some good games yesterday, the proof is in more than just the pudding.

BCS Declares No One Worthy Of Playing In Title Game

The BCS computer released their latest rankings on Sunday, a day after Texas Tech's horrendous loss to Oklahoma threw another wrench in the BCS cogworks, and they were blank for the first time in history.

"Look, we don't feel anyone is worthy of playing in the championship game this year," said the BCS Computer in a statement to the press. "Alabama is still undefeated, but they will most likely lose to a resurgent Florida, and then who does that leave? Utah? Please...you might as well shut me down now instead of blame me for the ratings that a BCS Championship game featuring something called the Utes will get. If Alabama wins out, maybe I'll let them have a scrimmage against themselves that we can televise."

"Besides, you all spend all year complaining about my work anyway. We want playoffs this, the BCS is not programmed right that, well this year I have decided no one is worthy of a championship, and you all know it too. So you all can still come down to the Orange Bowl if you want, hang out in the stands, check out some of the wonderful grass they have grown down there. But if you want to truly see who is the best team in college football, you are going to be disappointed because there is no best team. They all beat each other, and it all depends on how you play week to week. You think I have problems? Well, this will be your punishment until one of you 120 division 1A programs can put together a team that is truly worthy of a national title. I hate you all, good luck watching the Chick-Fil-A Meineke Peach Hawaii Bowl."

Week 13 Big Ten Wrap-up

We seemed to find out a little more each week about the Big Ten. Minnesota and Northwestern confused everyone with great starts, Wisconsin baffled onlookers with a dominant non-conference trio of wins, then tanked in conference play, and Penn State just wouldn't stop losing for most of the year. As the year went on, we figured out that Minnesota wasn't that good, Northwestern was for real, even without their star running back, Wisconsin was not nearly as good as everyone thought, and Penn State and Ohio State ruled the conference. All of these revelations left one team that we couldn't get a handle on.

Michigan State had a bit of an odd season. Sparty started off with a loss at Cal, then won 9 of 10 coming into the Penn State game and had a chance to share the Big Ten title with a win. On Saturday, Michigan State looked like a team that was happy to have that chance, not a team ready to take advantage of it. Penn State ran up 557 total yards and held Javon Ringer to 42 yards rushing en route to a blowout win. MSU put up some points late, but after losing 49-18, the Spartans lost to Ohio State and Penn State by a combined score of 94-25. Penn State is heading to the Rose Bowl to face either Oregon State or USC, while MSU will probably be in the Outback Bowl against an SEC opponent.

Sooners Win Makes A Mess Of The BCS

All Texas Tech had to do Saturday night in Norman was defeat the Sooners and in all likelihood the Red Raiders could have purchased air fare to Miami for the BCS national championship game against Alabama or Florida.

Week 13 wrap: National title picture no clearer

After Oklahoma thrashed Texas Tech on Saturday night, Don Borst says the national championship race remains too close to call.

We learned a lot on Saturday.

We learned that Penn State will be in the Rose Bowl.

We learned that undefeated Utah will be in the Fiesta or Sugar or Orange Bowl.

We learned that Oklahoma is capable of playing a near-perfect game.

And we learned that our Heisman Trophy ballots need to stay in our hot little hands until all the games have been played.

Of course, we learned a lot more than that, but we still need two more weeks full of information to be sure of what it all means.

College Rivalry Week? Try BCS Beatdown Bonanaza

In games featuring top 10 ranked teams we had the following final scores: 42-7, 70-19, 49-18, 48-24, and 65-21.
Three of those games featured matchups between top 15 teams, including the 65-21 shellacking that Oklahoma put on former No. 2 Texas Tech.

So what did we learn?
