Breakdown of the 2013-2014 Georgia Bulldogs

Breakdown of the 2013-2014 Georgia BulldogsThe 2012 Georgia Bulldogs came five yards short of making an appearance in a game that had National Championship like proportions for the first time in over 30 years. The Bulldogs are returning 10 starters on offense and this should make them a contender in the SEC; However, their defense is much more of a concern. Although, They are returning 10 starters on offense; They are losing 10 starters on defense and will be forced to rely on many new starters. They have many positions of concern on the defensive side of the ball and they include: both safety positions, inside linebacker, and one of their cornerback spots.
Safety
The Georgia Bulldogs will struggle to replace one of the best safety duos in all of college football last season. The strong safety and free safety positions were led by Bacarri Rambo and Shawn Williams, who both played pivotal roles in the Georgia Bulldogs success last year. After missing 4 games last season, Rambo was ab...

How Georgia Bulldogs Quarterback Aaron Murray Changed the 2013 NFL Offseason

When Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray decided to return to Athens for his senior season, he changed the entire landscape of this year’s NFL Draft. You could even say he altered the look of free agency as well.
As the college season was winding down, many pundits (myself included) had Murray as the top quarterback in the draft and almost a sure thing to be the No. 1 overall pick of the Kansas City Chiefs. He’d be stepping into a situation where there would be plenty of talent around him to help his development into a stellar NFL starting quarterback and provide a safety net for some would-be rookie mistakes.
It turns out Aaron Murray had different plans. He decided to come back for one more season of college football, presumably to have a shot at winning a national title and potentially a Heisman Trophy. That decision had a butterfly effect on the NFL offseason that will continue through the first round of the NFL Draft tonight.
Once Murray decided to return, a carousel of sorts star...

2014 tight end prospect Jeb Blazevich selected the Georgia Bulldogs as his destination of choice. He said, honestly, it was “where God was calling” him to go; he also mentioned his comfort level with the coaching staff and his overall confidence in the direction of the program even beyond Aaron Murray–who will be gone by the time he arrives.
Mark Richt sees the SEC expanding to sixteen teams in the future.

Mark Richt shares an awkward pose with son David.

Mark Richt took time out from his busy schedule as both head football coach at Georgia and as a music video extra to speak to the Touchdown Club of Athens, Ga. Among the various football-related subjects, Richt spoke about possible further conference expansion in the SEC.

“I wouldn’t be shocked to see the teams go to 16 one day,” Richt said of
further expansion from the current 14 schools. “I’m not hearing any
rumors. Don’t start any kind of, `Coach Richt said this,’ but I wouldn’t
be shocked to one day see us go to 16. If we go to 16, I can’t imagine
us not going to less than nine games. I think we would have to go nine.”

Considering that the SEC is still recovering from the admission to the conference of Missouri and Texas A&M, not to mention the whirlwind that is Johnny Manziel, any further expansion will probably not be any time soon. And when it happens, Richt and the Dawgs (and the rest of the SEC) w...

Georgia Recruiting: Are the Dawgs’ Recruiting Efforts Too Lazy?

Okay, so a couple weeks back I posted an article about Raekwon McMillan’s comments regarding why the Georgia Bulldogs weren’t as high on his list as some of the other schools. The gist of the article was targeted towards the fans, honestly, and was my personal way of saying “get a grip, Georgia doesn’t have to run behind guys who don’t want to wear the red and black”. I still feel that way, trust me, but I found this short interview given by McMillan, recently, somewhat interesting and felt the need to share. Take a look. After watching that, two questions immediately came to mind: 1. Does Georgia slow play in-state prospects because they are looking for better options outside he state? and 2. Is this approach, whether true or not, the reason for the loss of guys like Alvin Kamara and Montravius Adams? I can’t answer either question with any real confidence because I don’t know how each in-state prospect is handled, but I can say that I don’t feel Georgia has been as lackadaisical t...

Murray, Rumph shine in Georgia spring game

ATHENS, Ga. Very few college programs can match the pomp and circumstance of an SEC spring game.

But in the end, it's still just a glorified scrimmage full of some sound, some fury, but ultimately signifying very little.

For Georgia's spring fling on Saturday, the dress-rehearsal culmination of MarchApril practices, neither the Red group (first-team offense, led by QB Aaron Murray) nor Black squad (first-team defense, led by LB Josh Harvey-Clemons) wholly resembled the UGA juggernaut that came achingly close to beating Alabama in last December's thrilling SEC championship.

Nor did either squad bear the look of a presumptive national-title contender later this fall.

But that's OK, for no team hyped or not ever won anything of substance in April. Although the Bulldogs deserve some type of gusto award for opening with Clemson and South Carolina in successive weeks, roughly five months from now.

Mini-soapbox stance aside, there were plenty of notable events from the Black's 23-17 vict

via NIKE:

As part of the identity update, the Georgia football team, men’s and women’s basketball teams and track and field team uniforms will be revised to utilize consistent new fonts and numbers in competition for 2013-14. All other sport teams will phase in new uniform looks over the next two years.

Per Nike:

Georgia Bulldogs unveils new “Athletic Brand Identity,” gets new Football uniforms

The University of Georgia Bulldogs Athletic Department has been working to develop a new brand that would give their teams a new consistency between all of their athletic teams and their uniforms. Nothing drastic has changed, though they do have a new awesome secondary logo that they worked with Nike to create.

UGA has been working with Nike for the past 15 months to develop brand identity guidelines that help give a consistent look for all teams.

Georgia’s football uniforms are classic, so I’m glad that they didn’t do anything drastic to them. Updating them with newer numbers and adding a newer secondary logo is a nice touch. The Ath...

Kate Upton sister, Laura Upton a star Georgia Bulldogs athlete

With the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue dropping yesterday, Kate Upton is the talk of the country right now. So she’s getting plenty of attention. But do you know Kate Upton sister? Laura Upton is an accomplished Georgia Bulldogs equestrian.
I don’t much about that sport other than what I learned about dressage and Mitt Romney’s wife’s dressage horse Refalca. However Laura Upton must be good at her sport because she’s on the equestrian team at an SEC school. Then when you look at her record, she’s among the elite in her sport.

According to her UGA player profile:
Competing individually, she won five world and reserve world titles at the APHA world show in Horsemanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Western Pleasure and Western riding with three different horses…2007-08 (at UGA): The team’s Rookie of the Year Award among Western riders…won the Reserve championship at the Varsity National meet for Horsemanship…posted a 8-4-1 record in Horsemanship, including a 1.5-point win in the season ...
