DALLAS (AP) -- While the loss of injured star quarterback Robert Griffin certainly will change the look of Baylor's team, coach Art Briles insists it will not affect the overall goals.

BAYLOR 68, NORTHWESTERN STATE 13: Bears Destroy Demons, Improve to 2-1

Robert Griffin truly must be Superman.
Griffin, playing injured after taking a hard hit in the first quarter, helped the Baylor Bears (2-1) destroy the Northwestern State Demons (0-4) in a landslide victory, 68-13, on Saturday evening at Floyd Casey Stadium.
“At first I was just thankful that he was able to get back on the field,” Baylor Head Coach Art Briles said. “I knew the way he got hit that he was bent up a little bit and for him to come back and play showed a lot of g...

Baylor Football: Get Ready America, It's Time to See Our Real Bears…

When it comes to the 2009 Baylor Bears football team, just wait—because all you’ve gotten is a slight glimpse at how impressive this squad truly is.
Come Saturday at Floyd Casey Stadium, America will be introduced to the real Baylor Bears.
Come game time, the Bears are going to be roaring and ready—and I expect nothing more than a true offensive explosion led by Robert Griffin and his unbreakable group of surrounding talent on both sides of the ball.
Personally, I can’...

Baylor Bears: The Most Over-Hyped 4-8 Team

I told myself I would not use this forum as a place to rant, and to show some legitimate objectivity when it came to discussing my rivals. I try my best to find positive things to say about every program in the Big XII. This includes my least favorite team, the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
But recently I have grown quite ill by all the hype the Baylor Bears seemed to have garnered. There are countless 4-8 teams out there with upsides equal to that of Baylor’s. What the media seem to be forge...

Yes, that narrows it down quite a bit, but we need specificity here. You?ve just completed a ludicrously unsuccessful presidency, and you?re looking to ...

Texas vs. Baylor Preview

For the first time in over a month Texas faces an opponent that hasn't been ranked in the top 10 at some point in the season. The players and the staff faced the challenge of staying "up" for such a difficult streak of games, but getting "up" for a game against an inferior opponent like Baylor after a heartbreaking loss may prove to be more of a challenge. Texas appears to have an advantage at every position, even with Brian Orakpo and Quan Cosby not likely to play.

Baylor's Art Briles: Wordsmith

Baylor ranked 105th or worse in nine different national categories last season. But there may be real reason to pay attention to the Bears this season: new coach Art Briles.

Here's what the wordsmith had to say following Saturday's practice when asked how he wants his football team to be viewed:

"If it's hot, we want it hotter. If I am tired, I want to be more tired. If
I am hurt a little bit, let me have something else hurt ..."

If Briles wants more of whateve...

Bears With No Claws

There are those schools that are constant homecoming opponents in the conference. They are always the punching bags that have very little chance of a winning season much less a league championship. Duke comes to mind in the ACC, Vanderbilt in the SEC and Northwestern in the Big 10.

Then you have the Baylor Bears. Baylor has been the league patsy since joining the Big 12 conference in 1996. The Bears have won 11 Big 12 games. It's been a struggle for B.U. but there appears to be hope in Waco.

A&M/Baylor Duke it Out

While I usually reserve NCAA commentary to Rev and Rusty, it's March, so even us casual fans' interest is peaked. The Deuce put on a doozy last night between in-state rivals Texas A&M and Baylor, who earlier this year engaged in a five-overtime classic. While this game lacked the competitive battle, there was no love loss between the teams. So much so that the Baptist Waco fans showered the court with screams and seat cushions, while Donald Sloan rubbed salt in the Baylor wounds w...

Erie's Scribe,
I was thinking about this and I think now (if ever) would be the time to write about the Bears....after all the abuse we've gotten over the years for our performances in football and basketball, it does feel damn good to be a Bear today.....
