Colorado QB Jordan Webb, Nebraska Transfer Alex Lewis Arrested For Assault

Former Colorado offensive lineman Alex Lewis announced on Friday that he was transferring to Nebraska. Maybe he knew something we didn’t.
Lewis and starting Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Jordan Webb were arrested on Saturday and charged with second degree assault according to ESPN.com.
New Buffaloes coach Mike MacIntyre released a statement.
“Jordan’s exact involvement in this incident is still being investigated,” MacIntyre said. “We continually stress the importance of appropriate behavior to our players and do not tolerate any detrimental conduct in our football program. Once all of the facts come to light, if Jordan is found responsible for any misconduct, he will be disciplined according to team rules.”
Webb started on the games in 2012, but tore his ACL this spring.
Lewis started 12 games last season for Colorado, and was expected to be the team’s starting left guard in 2013. He missed all of spring ball, and then inexplicably asked for his transfer.

Given the late departure of Andre Roberson to the NBA, the Colorado Buffaloes found themselves with a semi-unplanned scholarship to fill. The last guy that Colorado added late in a recruiting cycle from the San Antonio area seemed to work pretty well (Roberson), and the Buffaloes landed another on Friday evening, as 6′-6″ wing George King of Brennan (TX) [...]

Andre Roberson Left Colorado To Develop Game Quicker For NBA

Andre Roberson left Colorado a year early so he could develop his game quicker for the NBA, his father said Wednesday.John Roberson, who played 12 years professionally overseas, shed light on his son’s decision.
“For him, it was just development and where he saw he'd be developing more,” John said from his home in San Antonio. "You look at all the different dynamics. You have what he'd be doing in Colorado versus the NBA. We felt it best for him to forgo his senior year."John Roberson didn't feel Colorado developed his son to play in the NBA."That's the struggle he was fighting," John said. "Was it more about Dre and fulfilling his dream or more about getting wins?"I think it has to go both ways. If you're going to develop him, develop him. Don't just take the point of view of, 'We need Dre so we can have a Final Four team or a top-10 team.' Now, if you look at it that way, it's selfish as opposed to (Andre) being sel...

Colorado's Roberson leaving early

Colorado junior forward Andre Roberson will enter the NBA draft.

The school announced the decision Sunday on its website, saying he notified coach Tad Boyle earlier in the day. Roberson originally scheduled a news conference for Friday, but it was canceled to give him more time to consider his decision.

Roberson led the Pac-12 with an 11.2-rebounding average. He also scored nearly 11 points a game, helping the Buffs reach their second straight NCAA tournament for the first time in a half-century.

The 6-foot-7 Roberson is projected to be a second-round pick. He may lack the size of strong NBA rebounders, but he makes up for it with his leaping ability.

Said Boyle: ''We support Andre and want what's best for him and his family. We wish him the best.''

Andre Roberson Delays Announcement On NBA Decision

Andre Roberson canceled a Friday press conference at which he was scheduled to announce whether he would enter the NBA draft.
The deadline is 10 p.m. Sunday for non-seniors to declare for the draft."It's a big decision, an emotional decision," Colorado coach Tad Boyle said. "Especially for Andre, when you want something (professional career) so much and you're also at a place (CU) that is so special to him, you're torn.
"Andre sees the benefits and risks of both, and he's weighing those benefits and risks. At the end of the day, he'll do what's best for him."

Roberson's decision still a mystery

There still is no word whether the nation's second-best rebounder will turn pro or return to Colorado for his senior season.

Junior forward Andre Roberson and Buffaloes coach Tad Boyle were scheduled to discuss his decision at a news conference Friday morning, but that briefing was canceled and the school said there are ''currently no plans at this time to reschedule.''

The deadline for non-seniors to announce their status is Sunday.

Roberson led the Pac-12 with an 11.2-rebounding average to go with his 10.9-point scoring average and helped the Buffaloes reach their second straight NCAA tournament for the first time in a half-century.

At 210 pounds, Roberson lacks the size of prototypical rebounders but makes up for it with his leaping ability and skills around the basket.

Colorado Football: Nick Hirschman To Transfer, Connor Woods Next Buffalo QB?

The 2013 Colorado Buffaloes football is currently in hot water when it comes to their quarterbacks position for the 2013 college football season. The Buffaloes in a matter of one month have lost two of their prime quarterbacks. Quarterback Jordan Webb will miss the entire 2013 season with a ACL tear in which he sustained during a non-contact spring practice on April 10th. From there it only continues to get worse for the team. The Buffaloes got word last week that Jordan Webb's backup Nick Hirschman has decided to transfer from Colorado University.Hirschman has yet to announce what college he plans on transferring to for the 2013 College Football season but said that he really wants to transfer to an Ivy League school. Hirschman is a four-year junior quarterback who played two seasons for the Colorado Buffaloes before announcing that he will be transferring.
Colorado QB Nick Hirschman transfering

Colorado junior quarterback Nick Hirschman says he plans to transfer.

Hirschman, who was competing with Connor Wood for the starting spot, said Friday it's a personal choice to give up his final two years of eligibility.

If he graduates from Colorado as scheduled this spring with a communication degree after three years of coursework, he would be eligible under NCAA rules to compete elsewhere this fall.

Hirschman says he is looking to continue his football career where he can earn his graduate degree.

Coach Mike MacIntyre has granted him a release from his scholarship to all schools other than any other Pac-12 rivals or Colorado opponents in 2013 or 2014.

Colorado Football: Buffaloes QB Jordan Webb tears ACL

Colorado quarterback Jordan Webb has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the entire 2013 season, according to the school’s official athletic website.

Webb went down during a non-contact drill on Tuesday, tearing a ligament in his right knee.

“This is very sad for Jordan,” Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre said. “We all feel for him. He was doing well in practice, competing again for the starting job, and for this to happen and to lose him for the season is just a shame."

Webb won the starting job last August while under coach Jon Embree, throwing for over 1,400 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions before being replaced toward the end of the season.

The fifth-year senior was a Kansas transfer, where he started 19 games from 2010-11. His collegiate career is likely over unless the NCAA grants him a waiver to play next year.

Webb was amid a four-way quarterback battle with juniors Nick Hirschman and Connor Wood, and freshman Shane Dillon.

Roberson's injury shaped her great freshman year

Redshirt freshman Arielle Roberson is living out her very own silver linings playbook.

Shortly after arriving at the University of Colorado last season, she tore her left labrum, requiring season-ending surgery, something she now says made her both a better player and a better person.

''It changed my perspective on things,'' Roberson said. ''Playing is a huge opportunity, it's a blessing. ... I think it opened my eyes to a lot more, just in life, to being grateful for every little thing that you get to do, for waking up in the morning, for being able to go to sleep at night.''

That first week after her operation she mostly stayed in bed, homesick and crying herself to sleep. Luckily, her older brother Andre is a star forward on the Colorado men's basketball team. So, he was there for her, bringing dinner by her dorm, helping out with her homework, anything to keep her spirits up.

''He made sure he texted me, he called me, checked up on me like a nice, protec

Ex-Colorado C Stoltenberg dies at 40

Bryan Stoltenberg, an All-America offensive lineman for the Colorado Buffaloes, has died. He was 40.

Stoltenberg recently underwent several surgeries after being in a car accident last month, the school said on its website. He died Friday at his home in Sugarland, Texas.

A two-time, first-team All-Big Eight center in the mid-1990s, Stoltenberg was picked by San Diego in the sixth round of the 1996 draft. He played 50 games for the Chargers, New York Giants and Carolina Panthers.

Stoltenberg suited up for three seasons under Bill McCartney and another for Rick Neuheisel. With Stoltenberg helping to pave the way, Rashaan Salaam rushed for a school-record 2,055 yards in 1994 and won the Heisman Trophy.

Services are still pending. Stoltenberg is survived by his wife, Laura, and three sons.

Refs blow call in Colorado-Arizona game

In a very entertaining game, the Colorado Buffaloes went to Arizona and beat what was a previously undefeated team. Sabatino Chen completed an unreal career night with a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Unfortunately, the refs (and this wasn't their first mistake of the night favoring Arizona) defied all logic by looking at the film and deciding that the shot wasn't good. Here's the film: And here's the still photo: Arizona went on to 'win' in overtime, keeping their perfect record.

Fired Colorado Coach Jon Embree is an Immature Disgrace to College Football

Jon Embree spent four years in Boulder as Buffaloes football player in the 1980s and prior to accepting the head coaching position in 2011, he previously spent ten seasons on the Unversity of Colorado coaching staff. He was considered a lifetime Buff with deep ties to the CU community but a 4-21 record in two seasons led to his dismissal this week.
As a respected member in the college football world and a resume decked with UCLA and two NFL stops, he would likely receive an assistant opportunity at another BCS program or potentially a head coaching job at a lower tier FBS school.
However, Jon Embree blew it.
Upon receiving word from Athletic Director Mike Bohn, CU President Bruce Benson, and CU-Boulder Chancellor Phil DiStefano, Embree proceeded to spit up a pile of excuses and immature racial comments.
No coach should be surprised when they are canned following the ugliest season in school history, one that featured a home loss to Sacramento State, preceded by a 3-win season in ye...

Racism in Colorado coach's firing?

Uh-oh, as if the Colorado Buffaloes needed any further negativity flung in their direction. Bill McCartney, a former head coach for the Colorado Buffaloes has spoken out against Colorado after the decision to unceremoniously dismiss Jon Embree after only two seasons. McCartney says, with no sugar coating, that Embree’s dismissal was likely racially motivated. In a radio appearance, McCartney said the school did not give Embree, who is black, the same opportunity to build up his program as his white predecessors had at Colorado and that race motivated the administration’s failure to stick with Embree. He added he personally was given more than two years to assemble the talent he needed playing for Colorado because he’s white. “Honestly, I believe it’s because I’m Caucasian. I believe black men have less opportunity, shorter time if you will,” McCartney told ESPN 102.3 FM listeners in a prepared letter, as quoted by the Denver Post. “It’s just like, (former coach) Dan Hawkins got five...

Do U of Colorado Buffaloes Have a Recruiting Advantage with Legal Weed?

The University of Colorado Boulder once had a storied football program and continually found themselves in the national conversation before a Sexual Violence scandal rocked the school in 2004. Having been heavily sanctioned, the Buffaloes have struggled to compete on a national level ever since. Is there a ray of hope for the Buffaloes in the form of a hemp leaf?
With the legalization of marijuana in Colorado on Tuesday, (keep in mind we have yet to see how this will play out federally) a door may have been opened for football to make a comeback in Colorado. Now not all college football player desire to smoke marijuana, and I am certain none of them would call it ‘smoking marijuana.’ I am also certain the NCAA will not make any exceptions on their drug use and abuse policies with regards to Colorado student athletes. That being said, legalizing weed gives Colorado a recruiting advantage.
The fact of the matter is young athletes often like to smoke weed. In fact we published a great ...
