Ex-teammate says Young wants help

Former Lions wide receiver Titus Young’s personal issues and arrest have been front page news for the past month now. Young has been arrested three times in the past 15 days, and recently has family acknowledged young had some mental health issues. Current Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch says that he recently was on the same flight from Miami to Detroit with Young, and the two had an interesting and deep conversation according to Tulloch. Tulloch told The Detroit News that during their conversation, Young shared with him his mental disorder, and admitted that “he wants to get cured.” “He’s aware of the situation that he’s dealing with and he showed me a paper and we went over it and I looked over it, and I understand it,” Tulloch told the Detroit Free Press. “A lot of people laugh about it and ke-ke-ke about it, but it’s real. He has head issues, and the Titus Young when he came in as a rookie and the Titus Young now is two different people. “It’s kind of like when you look at hi

Report: Titus Young Arrested Third Time This Week, Charged With Burglary, Assaulting Police Officer, Resisting Arrest

Back when Titus Young was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions, the former Boise State wide receiver was likely envisioning himself breaking team or league records for his play on the field. Now his actions off the field have become far more notable.
Young was arrested for the third time in less than a week late on Friday night, according to The Detroit News. He was previously arrested twice in the span of 15 hours and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence and burglary for attempting to steal his car from the tow lot.
This time around, Young was charged with burglary, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. Police told The Detroit News that Young broke into a house and fled on foot. After police caught up with Young, he fought the officers.
Young is currently a free agent.

OKG’s is the Star of Boise State Football

We’ve seen over the years many players go before their time and it wasn’t to an early NFL draft pick.

For the most part outside of the program no one really knows why other than the typical team announcement “breach of team rules”. With the shocking recently announcement of Sam Ukwuachu departure one can be left struggling to understand what’s going on in Boise when you consider all the news surrounding the Basketball team and their shop lifting crimes.

I’m a man of some age and I know some of you are sometimes miffed by my loyalty and understanding of some of these events and the players involved. Especially when you consider what I have done for a living for most of the last 20 years loss prevention. Now I’m not going to write a ten page essay on the phycology of why people steal and who does, but what I will say is this most of you reading this have stolen something in your life and many of still do. I’m not trying say this has anything to do with Sam’s...

Young's H.S. coach: Titus needs help

Titus Young has had an incredibly disappointing NFL career to this point, but he may have hit rock bottom earlier this week when he was arrested twice in a 15-hour span. The former Boise State star found it impossible to stay out of trouble on the field with the Detroit Lions, and that has now spilled over into his personal life. Young’s former high school coach, EC Robinson, told the Detroit Free Press on Tuesday that he has not spoken to Young since March but could have seen this coming. “Based on the last time I did see him, I knew unless he got some help there was going to be some issues, and I told him that, too,” Robinson said. “And I thought maybe since I hadn’t heard anything from him he was in some institute getting some help. That’s what I just figured. But I know the last time I saw him, I was just shocked the stage he was in at that time.” When your old coach assumes you got some sort of institutionalized help based on the conversations he had with you, something is very...

Report: Falcons Have “Intense Interest” in Boise State CB Jamar Taylor

Tony Pauline of TFY Draft Insider reports that the Falcons have “intense interest” in Boise State CB Jamar Taylor. Pauline adds that you can “pencil him in for the 30th pick” if Atlanta doesn’t trade up for someone else.
The Falcons have an obvious need a cornerback now that they’ve lost Brent Grimes and released Dunta Robinson this offseason. Other corner prospects like Alabama’s Dee Milliner and Washington’s Desmond Trufant have also been mentioned as speculative targets for Atlanta, while some believe they could also consider a defensive lineman or a tight end in round one as well.
We have them taking Jamar Taylor at No. 30 overall in our recently updated 2013 NFL Mock Draft.

Boise State: That's our $5 million

Boise State is asking a judge to declare that the school does not owe a $5 million penalty for cancelling its entry into the Big East Conference last year.

The university announced Monday it had filed a lawsuit in 4th District Court in Boise after a representative of what will soon be the American Athletic Conference said the conference intended to sue the university.

Boise State signed an agreement in December 2011 to join the Big East in 2013 for football. However, the school says the conference lost three-quarters of its membership over the next year, failed to add more football schools west of the Mississippi and lost its guaranteed spot in BCS bowls. In December, Boise State opted to stay in the Mountain West Conference for all sports.

University President Bob Kustra argues the conference the Broncos agreed to join no longer exists.

''Boise State entered into that agreement in good faith and with a great degree of optimism, but the conference we agreed to join simply no longer exists,'&#3

Boise State Is Tearing Down Buildings To Build A Quidditch Field

The 2013 Quidditch World Cup, or whatever it’s called, is taking place this weekend in Kissimmee, Florida, which is like the Taedong to Orlando’s Pyongyang, and yes, to answer the question that I know you’re all asking, I think Kate Upton is being rude by not responding to Spike Albrecht’s Tweet. But I will also have the Internet’s most extensive pre-World Cup coverage in the coming days, which means that today we can focus on just how big this made up sport is becoming.Student groups from around the U.S. have already tried to make a case for Quidditch becoming an NCAA-sanctioned sport, despite it being a made up sport, and now Boise State University is actually demolishing buildings to make room for an actual Quidditch field. The construction of two new fields has already begun to meet the needs of the football and lacrosse teams, and once state approval is confirmed, a third field will be built for additional student use, including Quidditch competitions. This summer and fall, club...

Report: Patriots Have Worked Out Boise State Cornerback Jamar Taylor

This bit of information should please Patriots fans crowing that the team needs to focus on acquiring defensive players.
The Patriots have worked out Boise State cornerback Jamar Taylor, according to Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net. Taylor is expected to be drafted late in the first round or early in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft.
Taylor has had an official visit or private workout with every team drafting from No. 27 to No. 32, so the Patriots will likely have some competition for his services. Despite less than premier size at 5-foot-11, 192 pounds, Taylor is known as one of the best press-man corners in this draft class. Taylor also had an official visit with the Miami Dolphins.
Taylor ran a 4.37 second 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine. His 6.82 second 3-cone time should be right up the Patriots’ alley, since they value agility at the cornerback position so heavily.

Boise State adds years, money to Rice contract

Boise State has rewarded coach Leon Rice for posting consecutive 20-win seasons and getting the Broncos to the NCAA tournament last month.

Athletic director Mark Coyle announced a contract extension and pay hike for the third-year coach Wednesday. Rice and the university have agreed in principle to a two-year extension and a $43,000 bump in pay next year, raising his 2014 salary to $482,110. The deal calls for a 3 percent annual raise through 2018.

The Broncos finished 21-11 this season and earned the team's first ever at-large berth to the tournament. Hired in 2010, Rice has won 50 games faster than any coach in school history and the success of the team in the last two years has elevated attendance to its highest mark in more than a decade.

Boise State adds UConn, Louisiana-Lafayette

Boise State has reached home-and-home scheduling agreements with Louisiana-Lafayette and Connecticut.

Athletic officials announced deals Wednesday that put both teams on Boise State's 2014 schedule. The Broncos will travel to UConn on Sept. 13 then host the Ragin' Cajuns one week later.

The deal sends Boise State to Louisiana-Lafayette for the 2016 season and brings Connecticut to Boise in the 2018 season.

Boise State was once on track to play UConn more frequently, but the Broncos backed out of a commitment to join the Big East Conference, opting instead to stay in the Mountain West.

Louisiana-Lafayette plays in the Sun Belt Conference and has posted consecutive 9-4 seasons and postseason bowl victories.

The series get the Broncos closer to filling out nonconference schedules through 2017.

Spring Football: Boise State could be a BCS buster one last time

First Practice: March 11
	Spring Game: April 13

Boise State finished 11-2 and defeated Washington 28-26 in the Maaco Bowl in Las Vegas and it was considered a down season.

That’s the type of expectation set forth by stalwart coach Chris Petersen, and no matter how annoying the typical Boise fan can be … the Broncos have backed up the swagger.

Ironically enough, Boise’s spring preparations will also focus on Washington again as the Broncos open the 2013 season against the Huskies on Aug. 31.

	Stability Factor (1=chaos, 5=rock solid): 4

Petersen’s commitment to Boise football is witnessed each offseason as he turns down opportunities at better-known programs with bigger budgets. The consistency from the Broncos is also amazing and should continue well into the future.

If Boise can win 11 games after graduating some of its best all-time players then you know this team is going to remain a legitimate Top 25 program this fall when it returns players like safety ...
