Mid-Major Monday: Finally, a worthy WAC foil at Boise State

The week in the undercards.
Quiet. Too quiet.
The BCS hoi polloi remains at a standstill, with TCU and Boise State hanging onto their No. 4 and No. 7 slots, respectively, in the latest Series standings. BYU is also still ranked in the top 20, for reasons beyond even the good Doctor's understanding, and Utah and Houston linger down there in those 20-something slots that go to teams no one knows quite what to do with.
Weekend Wake Up: Hawks, Broncos Soaring; Ireland Will Stay Sore

Flying High. The best team in the NBA right now nests in Atlanta. The 11-2 Hawks have wins over the Blazers, Nuggets, and Celtics, and their Friday night win was maybe the most dramatic of the season, coming on the above Josh Smith putback and against the scrappy Rockets. Their Eastern Conference competition is still dealing with flaws (Boston's offensive woes, Orlando's rhythm and the spotty Vince Carter, and Cleveland's lack of support for LeBron), and the Hawks have plent...

Your NFL Game Of The Week: Chargers vs Broncos

San Diego Chargers vs. Denver Broncos, Sunday 4:15 pm.

This week's GOTW matchup between the Broncos and Chargers should remind all of us of the Week 17 matchup these two teams had last year when basically the same prize was at stake. The winner of last year’s game would go on to become the AFC West champion, while the loser packed it in and got ready for vacation. We all know what happened in that game as the Chargers crushed the Broncos and went on to face the Steelers in the AF...

Unbeaten Boise State loses TE for rest of season

Boise State tight end Richie Brockel is expected to miss the rest of the season with a foot injury.

Brockel, who has eight catches for 75 yards and two touchdowns this season, injured his left foot in the sixth-ranked Broncos' 63-25 blowout over rival Idaho Saturday. Coach Chris Petersen declined to provide details of the injury, but said the senior was undergoing tests Monday.

The Broncos (10-0) also lost freshman running back Matt Kaiserman for the season.

At What Point Does a Head to Head Victory Get Trumped

In week 1 of the season the Oregon Ducks traveled to the land of the smurf turf and got their asses handed to them. Boise St. handled Oregon's rushing attack throughout the entire night and held the mighty Ducks offense to just one touchdown. On that night it was clear that Boise St. was up to the challenge and that perhaps we hyped up Oregon a bit too much in the offseason. The evening was than stamped with extra embarrasment when star running back LeGarrette Blount threw a straight righ...

For all the 'San-chize' fans out there ...

Jets QB Mark Sanchez has been named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month, the league announced today. He became the first player in the Jets history to receive the honor, which has been handed out since 1996. LB David Harris won the defensive version in 2007.

It was a better-than-expected month for Sanchez, who won his first three starts (the first rookie QB in history to start a season that way) and compiled a solid 87.7 passer rating. He committed only three turnovers.

Who was his compet...

#94 Hout...Won't Do That Again!!!

First off, I am rocking an Oregon Ducks t-shirt as we speak! We lost last night but I am still Very proud to be a Duck. Now lets get to the real story. University of Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount has been suspended for the entire season! This is another Plaxico punishment. Another person who has been made an "example" of. I have never heard of a year long suspension for a fight especially when the person you were fighting was also in the wrong. LeGarrette Blount should not have punched Byron Hout, but he got what he deserved. Hout showed NO class in the way he hit Blount's shoulder pad and jumped in his face mocking him after the loss. Those are the type of things that happen when you do things like that. The NCAA is emphasizing sportsmanship this season and Hout's behavior was obviously not sportsman-like and inappropriate. BSU coach Chris Peterson even grabbed Hout because he saw what he did and how classless and unnecessary his actions were. There needs to be a 1 game suspension for Hout! If my son had done what Hout did and got punched, I would shake my head as I'm telling him, "Bet you won't do that again!". After the punch heard round the world Blount was walking away peacefully when people in the crowd obviously said some "magic" words that would even make a calm man enraged. People may disagree with me but I have played in certain parts of the country where those type of things happen regularly!
Blount needs to use better judgement and control himself even when provoked by classless individuals. A 3-4 game suspension for Blount would have been fitting. Media outlets, YouTube, and TV analyst talking about it was "egregious". I'm watching TV and reading twitter and the Internet and all these analyst and writers are throwing around these million dollar words and phrases making this the worst thing that ever happened. They are saying, LeGarrette Blount's actions are despicable, horrid, classless, and that they are appalled and outraged that this could happen. Seriously, all that?

Now here is the "gotcha, gotcha" because there is always a "gotcha, gotcha"...
Many people want to talk about Boise State competing for a BCS spot and a National Championship, but I will be the 1st to say they don't have what it takes. Let me just say, I like Boise State because their coach Chris Peterson was the WR coach when I was at Oregon, and I played with their Defensive Coordinator Justin Wilcox, but Hout got punched right in front of all his teammates and no one did anything to Blount. They stood by and watched. This would never be allowed to happen to any team worth winning a championship! If that would have happened to an Oregon, Florida, Alabama, Texas, or USC player it would have been a riot. Teams have to stick together through thick and thin, right or wrong, and have a "ride or die" mentality to win championships! They should have had to dig Blount out of a pile of blue and orange jerseys, but like I stated, I don't promote violence, just protecting my teammates!!

Video: LeGarrette Blount punches Byron Hout after Boise State-Oregon game

Here is the clip of Oregon's LeGarrette Blount punching Byron Hout during the postgame of the Oregon-Boise State matchup last night.

I'm not condoning Blount punching a guy from an opposing team, but clearly Hout was taunting Blount. Not only is he verbally egging him on, he slaps him on the shoulder, and who knows what was really said in there. Either way, you throw a punch at someone, and you're looking at a suspension though.
