Photo: New camouflage uniforms unveiled by West Virginia baseball team are atrocious

On Sunday, the West Virginia Mountaineers baseball team unveiled new camouflage uniforms for their home contest against the TCU Horned Frogs. Needless to say, they are absolutely hideous. What we have here is a sloppy combination of blue and yellow that might cause blindness in some folks. Seriously, it looks as though the school hired a class full of first graders to go wild with some finger paint. The end result is what you see in the photo above. The trend by sports team to incorporate camo-themed uniforms has officially become an epidemic. It was pretty cool at first, but now it's just gotten out of control. Trying to make blue and yellow work together is hard enough without further complicating it with camouflage.Yikes.Via @WVU_Baseball

Report: Jets may release Sanchez

It is extremely rare for an NFL team to carry more than three quarterbacks at a time during the regular season. With the selection of West Virginia product Geno Smith on Friday, the Jets now have five on their roster. That means one — or likely two — of them will have to go. According to sources cited by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, incumbent starter Mark Sanchez may be the first on the chopping block. Shefter reports that the Jets are considering releasing Sanchez despite the massive salary cap hit the team would take as a result. Smith, whom the Jets drafted 39th overall, and Sanchez are joined in New York by Tim Tebow, Greg McElroy and newcomer David Garrard. According to Schefter, both Tebow and Garrard have impressed those high up in the organization this offseason, with the former showing up slimmer and with improved mechanics and the latter shaping up to be an ideal mentor to a young quarterback like Smith. The Jets’ passing offense ranked 30th in the NFL last year, with Sanchez com...

Video: Highlights From West Virginia’s Gold-Blue Spring Game

West Virginia fans around the country tuning in for Saturday’s Gold-Blue Spring Game were hoping to get an indication of who will be the starting quarterback for the Mountaineers next season.
Not so much. Redshirt freshman Ford Childress and junior Paul Millard didn’t really leave any fans in awe of their performances. Thankfully, with the whole summer camp still left for head coach Dana Holgorsen to make this decision, there will be enough time for improvement.
Saturday’s game did show everyone that WVU may have one of the best rushing attacks since Holgorsen’s been in Morgantown.
Junior Dustin Garrison showed those in attendance in Milan Puskar Stadium that he can make the cuts he had his freshman year before a devastating injury prior to the Orange Bowl in early 2012. His 291-yard performance against Bowling Green two years ago still lives to be his career-best performance as a Mountaineer, but with some of his moves on Saturday, this year can prove to be Garrison’s best.

On Saturday the West Virginia Mountaineers and Nike unveiled their new football uniforms. They have three helmets, three jerseys and three pants, which will allow them to make 27 different combinations. The Mountaineers will have a traditional all-blue set, then the solid all-gold set with their brand new matte gold helmet. And finally their slick new white uniforms and awesome new helmet. The West Virginia website provided some insight into the new uniforms, also stating that this is the first time since 1978 they will have a gold helmet and the first time since 1979 they will have a white helmet.
The players will have three different Nike jersey colors to choose from including blue, gold and white, along with the same three color options for their pants. Stitched inside the back collar of all three jerseys will be the West Virginia state motto, Montani Semper Liberi, (Latin for “Mountaineers are Always Free,”).
2013 NFL Draft: 5 Reasons Why Geno Smith Will Be A Bust

Many questions surrounding Geno Smith’s future in the NFL have risen since the college football season ended. The former West Virginia quarterback threw for 42 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions in the high-powered spread offense during his senior season. Smith showed glimpses of greatness with his passing attack in many games for the Mountaineers last season, but they faltered down the stretch and many draft experts are down on him because of that. Smith is likely to come off the board in the first round, but will he live up to his potential or become a bust? There will be 32 teams in the upcoming 2013 NFL Draft looking for franchise players that will impact their organization for years to come. With that being said, there will be a few pitfalls in the draft that simply won’t work out. Those players in today’s era are labeled as “busts.” Geno Smith could fall into this category from what many draft analysts have predicted based off his performances during his college career and com...

Offseason Intelligence: West Virginia Mountaineers

West Virginia's first season in the Big 12 started hot and fizzled fast. The Mountaineers began 2012 with five straight wins, but they finished 2-6 down the stretch, including a humiliating 38-14 loss to former Big East conference mate Syracuse in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Dana Holgorsen brings a 17-9 overall record into his third season as West Virginia's head coach.

	Offense

The Mountaineers will be without one of their leaders—quarterback Geno Smith, who has graduated. They also will need to find replacements for their two all-conference receivers—Stedman Bailey (who skipped his senior year for the NFL) and Tavon Austin. Sooner fans should be glad to see these guys gone. Austin rushed for a record 344 yards and scored twice in a 50-49 loss to the Sooners in 2012. Smith completed 20 of 35 of his passes for 320 yards and 4 TDs. Bailey caught 13 of those tosses for 205 yards and all 4 TDs. J.D. Woods, another receiver, also had graduated, so the Mountaineers will be l...

Dana Holgorsen takes the ultimate shot at Charlie Weis

West Virginia and Kansas are playing on Saturday for the first time since the Mountaineers moved into the Big 12. The game will be between two teams that have disappointed. Kansas is a pathetic 1-10 under first-year head coach Charlie Weis, while West Virginia plummeted to 6-5 after a promising 5-0 start. Though the game seems like a dud on the sports calendar given all the big conference championship games taking place that day, matters got a lot more interesting after Dana Holgorsen’s teleconference on Monday. The West Virginia coach took the ultimate shot at Weis through some heavily sarcastic praise. “They’re going to coach them up. We’re going to be at a major schematic disadvantage going against their coaches,” Holgorsen said of Kansas. “They’ve got coaches with a tremendous pedigree that have coached everybody in the world and coached for decades and decades. “It’ll be challenging. You never know what you’re going to get,” Holgorsen said. “They kind of have a flavor of the week
