Law of Three's: Who's Next

The law of Three's is well known the good (2003 NBA Draft - LeBron, Melo, Wade) the bad (Notorious BIG, Tupac, Mother Theresa) and the ugly (1985 draft - Joe Kleine, Chris Mullin, Detlef Schrempf). With the retirement of two athletes on the top of their game the question arises, who's next?

Fly Pelican! Swimmer Dive Bombed by Pelican

A unsuspecting woman was swimming along in Florida and 'BAM' she is pummeled by a pelican swooping down for its next aquatic based meal. Thirty pounds of pelican. That is a lot of hurt. Apparently about about 20 stitches worth for the woman and an early trip to aviary heaven for the big beaked birdy.

OJ Confesses??????

According to his former manager and ex friend says that OJ was high on weed, sleeping pills, and beer, and told him he killed Nicole and Ron weeks after he was acquitted of their murders. He said that OJ said when he went to the house he didnt have a knife in hand, but Nicole had one as she answered the door. This is what Mike Gilbert claims OJ told him "If she hadn't opened that door with a knife in her hand ... she'd still be alive." He also says that he told OJ to stop taking his pills so the gloves wouldnt fit. This is some crazy ass shit if this did happen, this guy has a book coming out next week "How I Helped O.J. Get Away With Murder: The Shocking Inside Story of Violence, Loyalty, Regret and Remorse." Now I have to say that this guy is reportedly being investigated by the IRS, so maybe that's why he's decided to write this "tell all book."

He also says he never liked Nicole but he offers his apologies to her and her family. OJ's new Lawyer said that Mike Gilbert is a liar and drug addict. Mike Gilbert is also a memorabilia collector and is one of the alleged guys that was with OJ during the Las Vegas incident which he's soon to be on trial for. He also calls himself Judas and says he's betraying OJ because he feels ashamed for what he did. He said that he also tried to sell the suit OJ wore the day of his acquittal.

Like I said crazy shit, I remember exactly where I was during this trial, I was a youngin in 7th grade, I think my class focused more of that trial than we did school work.....LOL. We followed that thing everyday all the way til the end. And the day that verdict was read my whole school erupted in cheers. Now as seventh graders in Philly we where just happy they didnt "get another black man" most of us were still pissed about the Rodney King thing. So we were thinking along racial lines and not that two people just lost their lives, and kids lost their mom. Anyway even if he did confess he cant be retried so Mike Gilbert essentially opened his mouth for nothing IMO.

Report Dispels Myths about Minorities and Swimming

USA Swimming has just released a study called, "Constraints on Minority Swimming Participation."
It is an eye opening look at the reality of why a disparity exists in swimming ability among races. Since statistics reveal a disproportionate number of drowning in ethnically diverse areas, it is critical that the word gets out to people that swimming is a life saving skill, its healthful and its fun, too.

American Earns Silver Medal in 25km swim at FINA World Open Water Championships

Twenty-five kilometers is a very long way to swim. For those of us who are metrically challenged, that's 15.5 miles of aquatic bliss or misery, depending on your attitude towards H20. Don't feel bad for American Mark Warkentin of Santa Barbara though. Although Maarten Van der Weijden of the Netherlands surged to edge Warkentin out by just .05 seconds to win in the FINA Open Water Worlds for the 25km in 5:04:01.1, Warkentin qualified for his first Olympics earlier in the championships and called his silver in the 25km , "icing on the cake."

Pondering the sexcess... er... success of beach volleyball

A buddy and I went to the AVP Huntington Beach Open this past weekend. I wanted to catch one of Kerri Walsh and Misty May's matches, but we arrived about an hour too late. We walked around the tournament grounds watching the action on the various side courts. We settled in to watch a match that featured Angela Knopf and Saralyn Smith against Jenelle Koester and Sarah Straton. Why did we decide that particular match? I'm not certain, but I think it might have been Jenelle Koester…

That's her on the right. [Picture is included in original post.] I could say that it was her terrifc serves, clutch digs or powerful spikes, but I'd be lying. As I watched the match, I started to wonder - how much of beach volleyball's success is based on sex? The sport really came to the forefront during the 2004 Olympics in Sydney, when May and Walsh (and all of the other competitors) showed off their toned, athletic bodies in tiny bikinis. If you remember, it was pretty amazing how popular the sport became as it was introduced to an international audience. Everyone was talking about it. Moreover, everyone was watching it, and the unbeatable Misty May and Kerri Walsh became household names. Still at the Koester match, I looked around the court, trying to figure out what percentage of attendees were there for the volleyball and what percentage were there for the view. I noticed a couple of male "photographers" taking pictures of Koester. No press passes, just big cameras with long lenses. It's clear that a large percentage of beach volleyball fans are there for the eye candy. And I'm not just talking about women. There were a lot of female fans clustered around the men's matches as well.

From a pure sports standpoint, indoor volleyball is more entertaining to watch. Due to the hard surface, the athletes are able to move more quickly and jump higher, which results in longer rallies and harder spikes...

(Read the rest of the article after the jump.)
