Kurt Busch makes some random dude a millionaire

Okay, I've figured out how NASCAR can start to grow its fanbase once again: start paying each newcomer a million dollars. Hey, it's worked for Kurt Busch. Here's the deal: Michael McGee of Broken Bow, Oklahoma was selected in a contest as the "Dickies American Worker of the Year" for 2009. McGee won 50 large and a VIP package to the Dickies 500 this past weekend. Not a bad deal for just doin' your job, right?Oh, but it didn't end there. On Saturday, 12 "beau...

CRASH PUTS FIRST DENT IN JOHNSON'S QUEST FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT TITLE

Have you ever noticed that trouble strikes when you least expect it? For Chase leader Jimmie Johnson, that was the case Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway. With a 184-point advantage over teammate Mark Martin, Johnson simply needed to finish 10th or better in the final three races in order to claim his fourth straight title. After making it through the chaos in the closing laps at Talladega, Johnson was unable to make it three full laps at the Dickies 500, where he was the favorite to win.

You Got Me Under Pressure

First of all, I think ZZ Top still rocks! As for the ho-hum race, not so much.

Ok, ok so Jimmie Johnson wrecked in the 2nd lap. Big deal. The guy still has a seventy something lead going on. I don't believe anyone will put much more of a dent in his point lead unless something catastrophic happens like Sunday's little accident.

Anyway, my hopes of Junior having a top 5 pretty much stalled like Junior's car did on pit row. Yep, something or someone always seems to ruin Junior's day. But I have to say I was absolutely giddy when Kyle Busch had the same thing happen to him. That pretty much shut everyone's trap.

I was so sick and tired hearing the commentators talk about Kyle's potential historic weekend that I wanted to throw the TV right out the front door.

And speaking of TV, did anyone see who finished in what place? I saw Kurt Busch and that was it. ESPN was so preoccupied with Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch that they didn't even bother to show the rest of the field crossing the finish line. What is up with that?

So, let me know if I am the only one that thinks ESPN should not be covering NASCAR races until they read the "how to broadcast a NASCAR race properly" manual. Pfft.

Johnson's crash in Texas opens up Chase

The 'anything can happen' that Jimmie Johnson was concerned about, happened in Texas. His crash and 38th-place finish allows Mark Martin to get back in the game and gets the top five in the Chase closer, Pete Pistone says.

by Holly CainFiled under: Jimmie Johnson, Chase for the Sprint CupTurns out everyone was a little ahead of themselves. The wild-card race wasn't last week at Talladega, Ala., but Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway. At least as far as NASCAR championship points leader Jimmie Johnson is concerned. All week the three-time defending Sprint Cup Series champ refused to buy into everyone else's hype that he had a historic fourth consecutive title wrapped up. He cautioned, chastised and -- as it ...

Race fans, we have official confirmation. Contrary to popular belief, Jimmie Johnson is NOT immortal in the Chase.
3 laps into Sunday’s Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, Johnson attempted to pass Sam Hornish Jr. on the high side in turn 2. It didn’t work.
Hornish was tapped by David Reutimann, and then slid up the track into Johnson’s [...]

KURT BUSCH WINS DICKIES 500 AS CHASE RACE TIGHTENS UP

Jimmie Johnson wrecked, Kurt Busch won a fuel-mileage thriller and one lucky fan won $1 million at the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Johnson's wreck on lap 3 put Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon back in contention for the title with two races to go in the Chase. Busch survived a fuel finish that saw fellow contender Kyle Busch, who was attempting to sweep the weekend, run dry during the closing laps.
The big winner? That would be Michael McGee of Broken Bow, Okla. He was na...
