The Winnipeg Goldeyes have announced an agreement with California based Interactive Broadcast Network (iBN) that will broadcast all of its home games via video on ibn.com. Winnipeg is not the only baseball team that has an agreement with iBN, they are now the third team to join the iBN Network along with the Kansas City T-Bones, and Gary SouthShore Rail Cats, also of the Northern League. With the announcement of the Goldeyes joining the group, iBN Baseball will cover nearly 1000 professional ...

It's that kind of Wrestling thing

It's that feeling you get when you step out onto the mat, it's a rush of adrenaline piercing through every vein. It's the pounding in you head when you hear the people you love cheering loud and proud for you. It's the anticipation of waiting for the ref to blow the whistle. It's about performing your best and giving it your all no matter what. It's all about those intense weeks of training. It's in that moment you know exactly what your there for. Exactly what needs to get done. You dig as deep as you can go and with every ounce of effort you go in for the kill. It's the sport of wrestling. It's the type of sport made specificly for mentaly strong people. A sport made for those who are out to prove something and achieve their goals. In my eyes, it is the best sport out there.

I am not talking about WWE either. Sure that is a type of wrestling. But it is more of entertainment then endurance. Alot of people get the wrong impression when they hear about high school wrestling or university wrestling. "Isn't that where you go in a ring and jump off the top ropes?" no. it is not. "I was waiting for you to tag team your buddy over there and hit them with a metal chair!" not even close. Those are just some phrases i have heard. (yes people have actually said/asked me those.) I believe that the actual sport of wrestling doesn't get enough credit as it should. I guess i am a little biassed but i just love it and i want people to have the same love i have. But it is hard to get your sport out there when there is such publicity for WWE or Hulk Hogan's celebrity wrestling. I don't mean to attack them but the type of wrestling i live for.. is not even close to what they show on there. We don't get wild costumes, we don't get to yell and verbally attack our opponent, we don't get to close line, and we don't get to use metal objects or jump off top ropes. It is simply ourself the opponent, the ref, and the mat. Nothing else. In that small tiny circle is where we get to perform our sport. Show our technique, get points and look for a pin. Two minutes is all we get. No two hour pay-per-view for us. Just two minutes each round to give er' all we got. I encourage everyone to actually go out and watch some local team wrestling from a university or high school. I guarantee once you watch it once, you will fall in love with it.

I received an email from a college buddy today expressing disappointment over HHR's lack of X-Games coverage.

It isn't due to us having anything against the sports. It's just that the extent our knowledge on them is limited to the fact that Darkmane looks like a rip off of the 1983 Quite Riot album Mental Health.

Picture this: Your at a live sporting event, immensely enjoying yourself because hey, it's not like you get to go to these things everyday. Your favorite team is in the thick of the battle and just when you thought it couldn't get any better, some over-excited jackass barrels over a child en route to a foul ball. Even worse, he doesn't even seem to notice what he's done.

Freestyle motocross blogging begins!!

Howdy Yardbarker diehards, my name is Mike Mason and I am a Freestyle moto guy. I'm here to keep you guys filled in on my world. This is my first post on YB so I figured I would use it to introduce myself and my sport if many of you aren't familiar with it, so here goes.

I started riding dirtbikes when I was five years old, thanks to my pop's who at the time was heavily involved in the motorcycle scene. He has been taking me to all the races since I first can remember, and ever since I was a 5 year old kid I knew I wanted to ride a motorcycle for the rest of my life, regardless of making it as a professional or not. When I was 17 I decided to turn pro, the sport was starting to take its toll on my family as everything became more expensive as I became better. I was traveling more, breaking bikes often, and entry fees had become too expensive. Turning pro I knew I could at least make 400-700.00 a weekend locally and much more than that at the bigger races so that would help out a lot. I caught my first big break in a series that tours the states in all the major arenas. They had racing and a best trick competition, which was perfect for me because I loved racing, but also messed around with doing tricks in my spare time. It was mainly racers who did the best trick comp and they never had much in the way of tricks, so I was pretty much set to make a thousand bucks a week just from that plus whatever prize money I made from racing, so things were looking good!! Of course with our sport like any sport comes injury, and 2002 seemed to be my year for everything to catch me at once! I had torn some ligaments in my shoulder which caused it to dislocate constantly and I also tore my ACL so my knee would dislocate from time to time. I decided just to fix my shoulder since it was bothering me more at the time. Surgery and rehab went perfect on my shoulder and I was back riding just four months after surgery. The bad news is that 6 months after my shoulder surgery I came up short on a jump at a Freestyle show in Milan, Italy and ruined my knee for good. Back to surgery it was and with a ACL its not quick. It took me about 7 months to recover and get to a 100%. At this point I was pretty much off my bike for a year and when I came back I had lost the drive and desire to keep racing. I was dead broke, my body was feeling beat up, and my mind was not into it. Right around the time all this happend my best friend had bought 7 acres and made a freestyle course on it. I decided to go out and ride with him and just mess around, not take anything to serious and just have some fun riding again. Well it ended up being the best time of my life, hitting new jumps and learning new tricks daily made me motivated to ride again, I decided to focus 100% of my efforts into FMX (freestyle motocross). After my first year I had a good bag of tricks and the backflip, which was pretty much key if you wanted a career in FMX. In 2005, just my second full year I finished third overall in the Dew action sports tour, which is basically the second biggest FMX contest next to ESPN's X games. In 2006 I won some Europe contests, finished second overall in the Dew action sports with one win on the season, and earned my first X games medal, a bronze, in my first apperance! Life was good and I had finally started to see my life long dream become a reality. Like anything good though there is going to be some bad times, in 2006 during my success, I also broke my collerbone, knocked myself out a couple times and tore my other ACL, so once again I was feeling beat up. I went into 2007 not feeling like myself and constantly worrying about my knee. I managed to get another third overall in the Dew action sports tour, but that was pretty much the only highlight of 07'. I decided to take some time off, get my knee fixed and let my body heal up and feel good for 08'.

It is now 2008, the contests and demos are underway and once again I am feeling healthy and ready to make a comeback and get back to the top. As I type this I am in Australia doing a 10 week tour and the day after I get home from here I fly to Baltimore to start the Dew tour again. I will be posting frequently and keeping you all updated on cool stories or parties or hot girls, whatever it may be that I come across over here!!! Hope my story didn't bore you too bad, because I am not a very good typer so that took pretty much every ounce of brain power I had!! Take care and stay tuned!!!

Larry King Really Knows His Skateboarding

You remember Jake Brown, the dude who fell about 50 feet off his board at the X-Games last week? He was on Larry King Live the other day and it was pure comedy gold. Larry, who I believe is working on his third century, is clueless about skateboarding and Jake amazingly puts up with Larry's nonsense without slapping him upside his head.

I really don't understand the X-Games, or much less partake in any of the events; however, I did catch the series in Philadelphia a few years ago at the Wachovia Sports Center/Complex.

Of course thanks to Youtube, I wanted to post a clip one of the scariest falls that I have ever seen -- one that made me go "holy s**t"...

Anyhow, the athlete you see, Jay Brown goes into freefall in this incredible halfpipe accident. He fell about fifty feet, landing so hard his shoes flew ...

How to Make Real Life More like Harry Potter

I am sure there isn't that much to do in Lewisburg, Pennslyvania, but that is still no excuse for this. Can't these kids just smoke pot for god's sake. Maybe, they do smoke, and that's how they came up with the idea to recreate a fictional wizard game from a book for 10 year olds. Apparently this Quidditch business isn't simply a Bucknell thing, according to the article, 10 other colleges have formed teams of nerds...
