there is alot of talent at purdue this year in track but give me some thought on shane crawford..Took fourth in the 100-meter dash at the 2007 Pan American Junior Games in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Posted a trio of excellent times, including a 10.34-effort in the semifinals. Also ran on the gold-medal winning 4x100-meter relay. Placed third in the 100 at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships, clocking a time of 10.38 in the finals and 10.33 in the semifinals. Placed second in the 60-meter dash at the 2007 Nike indoor nationals with a time of 6.72. Notched a career-best time set purdue big ten record with a time of 6.70

iPods at Run Races? The Debate Continues

With the exception of using iPods to warm-up before race events, be they track & field, XC or road races, I am 100% against the use of iPods in competition. It is a safety issue for both the person using the iPod and for athlete's around the hearing distracted athlete. Get over it. If you can't run without an iPod then stay in the gym and off the race courses.

Michigan Wins DMR at Penn Relays

If you are going to bring it, the Penn Relays is the place to do it. Michigan's distance medley relay team did just that. Serita Williams, Danielle Tauro, Geena Gall and anchor leg Nicole Edwards clocked the second fastest collegiate DMR time to win in 10 minutes, 49.58 seconds. Edwards, a senior, overtook Tennessee's Sarah Bowman on the final 100 meters to score the DMR win at the 114th Penn Relays. Tennesse, the DMR defending champion took second in 10:50.51 and Stanford rounded out the top three in 11:05.48.

Arizona State sophomore sets collegiate shot put record

On March 14, Ryan Whiting, a 6'3" sophomore from Arizona State, set the all-time collegiate record for the shot put, heaving the 16-pound weight an amazing 21.73 meters (71'3.5") ! He broke a record that stood for over 30 years, surpassing Stanford's Terry Albritton, who threw it 21.50 m (70'6.5") in 1977. And, yes, he won the men's shot put national title with that toss.

Marion Jones Enters Federal Prison

Former track star Marion Jones began her six month federal prison sentence this afternoon at the Federal Medical Center Carswell, located on the Naval Air Station, Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth. It appears Marion got "somewhat" of a deal because this particular prison specializes in medical and mental health services, but has select inmates who don't require that kind of care (Jones).

World Record Holder Radcliffe Out of London Marathon

Injuries are unfortuneatly a part of the process. When you train and compete at the world class level, every decision is an important one. Clearly it's a no brainer for Paula Radcliffe to opt out of starting at the London Marathon. She has bigger fish to fry in Beijing this summer.
It is a big blow for the London Marathon to lose Radcliffe and her absence certainly takes away some of the shine on race day. It will be up to Romania's Constantina Tomescu-Dita and Gete Wami and Berhane Adere of Ethiopia to duke it out.

Winning Is Everything?

We have heard the saying many times in our athletic careers. Winning is everything. It is told to us by coaches and observers alike. Athletes will go to extreme measures to put themselves in position to finish on top. I'm talking steroids, people. When winning comes in front of your name, integrity, image and family, it's time to reassess your priorities.

I analyzed this when Marion Jones confessed to using performance enhancing drugs prior to her spectacular 2000 Olympic showing, where she brought home five total medals (three gold and two bronze). As I watched a teary eyed, apologetic Jones, facing the media outside a courtroom, I learned how important winning can be to individuals. It was disheartening for me to see my favorite female athlete in that position but it took great courage for her to finally come forward and speak up.

SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR: ALLISON STOKKE

Since this is the first-year of blogging for PartMule — however choppy — I thought we should end the year by giving out a Sportsman of the Year award….or better yet, Sportswoman of the Year.

I've never been enamored by the politics behind SOTY awards that, all-in-all, end up being a love fest for the most popular athlete of the year….versus being handed to the truest, most deserving athlete. So, it is in that spirit, that we award the Sportsperson of the Year to Miss Allison Stokke.

Marion Jones gone but not fogrotten

Good luck at how Marion was the greatest sprinter of her time despite the drugs, as she figured out how to beat the rest of the drug cheats.

"She was the greatest sprinter of her generation and, in an age when cheating with drugs was common, she raised her game to use even more sophisticated designer dope to beat other cheats."

In twenty years no one will even no who Jones was now that she's been erased from olympic results.

Yes she was dirty but she certainly wasn't the only one!

I realize it's been awhile...

So I am absolutely pooped, but it was well worth it due to an amazing week. My best friend flew up for five days and we went to two concerts, one being the jingle ball showcase and the other being the spice girls reunion!!!! They were both amazing in diffrent ways. Here's a lil taste of the spice...

And the best part by far was when Sporty Spice (my favorite) came out and sang her hit solo single "I Turn to You"! check it out! (i didn't film this by the way....) watch the whole thing it's awesome.

Anyways I am sooooo tired and have finals coming up, but I will be sure to load some new pictures of the first concert I was at with fall out boy soon! Have an awesome weekend. :D
