Back in L.A.

YB!!!!! What's the deal?!

I hope everyone's Monday is going well. I landed in L.A., from Annapolis last night at about 1:45am, so I'm exhausted! But, life goes on, stuff to do, things to catch up on, you know how it goes!

I had a pretty solid weekend back east with the US Training Team. I got in on Thursday night and was able to head over to my parents house and catch up with them which was great. Happy Birthday Dad! My dad turned 60 on Saturday, so it was definitely a good thing being able to see him on the big b-day weekend. On Saturday, the US Training squad practiced with the Navy team, which was a lot of fun. Navy's got some great players and is clearly one of the most respected programs in the country. Saturday evening, we had a reception with the 74' and 78' US teams, so it was great to be around all of those great players. Not to mention the food at the reception was OFF THE CHAINS. Sunday, we split the training team (41 guys) into two teams and played MD, Navy and UVA. It was good to play and get up and down. All of those programs are going to have huge years, as they all have a lot of talented players. We've got one more weekend of US training team camp which will be at Stony Brook on October 30th.

Unfortunately, my travel doesn't slow down too much this week. I'm heading to Seattle on Thursday to do some K18 events, then to NorCal for some K18 events on Friday night, and then flying right to Denver on Saturday morning because the Denver Outlaws (my pro team) are playing DU's team, so that should be a lot of fun! I'm fired up as it will be the first time I get to play in a game and WEAR MY OWN EQUIPMENT!!!! Wooohooo! The pro league isn't sponsored by STX or Nike, so I'm never able to actual wear my equipment in a real game situation. But, this Saturday will be the first time I toss on the new K18 line and get my lax on! I know, seems small, but I'm pretty excited about it.

Anything new going on with you guys? I wish I had some more to report, not too much new with me. I'm settled into my apartment which is great. I got a bunch of new LIVESTRONG and TIger Woods Nike apparel in the mail a few days back, so thats always exciting stuff.

I got two songs I'm into right now...I can Transform ya (Chris Brown, Weezy), and What a Catch (Fall out boy), that I CAN'T stop listening to for some reason. I saw the music video for What a Catch last week at my parents house and instantly liked the song. Also, check out the Drop It Low video (Ester Dean featuring Chris Brown), it's a good one as well.

I know there have been far more educated baseball people who have written about this already, but how ridiculous is A-rod? Honestly, it's getting a little out of control how clutch homeboy is. I'm not even into baseball, but I've definitely enjoyed watching playoff baseball, especially the Yankee's. I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and go as far to say I'm a fan, but it's been entertaining for sure.

That's about all I've got, need to get some work done!

Catch up with you all soon!

K18 Release!!!

YB!

My bad for being out of touch last week, I was bouncing around all over the place! Last week I was in Texas, Austin and Dallas....it was A LOT of fun and very productive, but I was EXHAUSTED last weekend when I got back!

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about the release of the new K18 line!!!! In ATL, Breakaway (lacrosse retailerS), was nice enough to come out to my camp at Milton High School with all of the new equipment to show the kids! Seeing all the new stuff all packaged up and being sold is an amazing feeling. Thinking back to a a year and a half ago when this whole creative process started, I can't believe we finally got it done! As I've mentioned to you all before unlike my last line (I just graduated and we had a quick deadline), with this line, I was involved from the very beginning to the end and it was an experience I'll never forget.

Depending on what area you're in, you've GOT to get by a store and check it out!!!! If you're in the SoCal area, get by SouthSwell, in NorCal, Sling It, in Baltimore, Laxworld, and in NY, check out Lacrosse Unlimited!

I've got more to shout at you all later about! Need to go get some work done!

Still depressed about my Ravens yesterday....

Talk to you all tomorrow!!

What's good YB!?! Sorry for the delayed post this week!
Tailgating at the USC/Ohio State Football Game

YB! What's good? I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend!

This was the first weekend in at least 4 or 5 months that I had NOTHING lacrosse related to do, and it was a needed break for sure. I got to play some beach volleyball, got some surfing in, played a little football on the beach, went to the USC/Ohio State football game, and laid around ALL day yesterday and watched football. It was absolutely perfect.

My roommate Brett is from Ohio, and if any of you guys know people from Ohio, we can all agree that these cats are absolutely crazy about Ohio State football. So, with the big game last weekend, these dudes came out of the woodwork! Brett had like 10 buddies fly in Thursday night, and Hermosa beach was completely taken over by Ohio State fans, as was our place.

On Saturday morning, we took a stretched escalade limo up to USC, as it didn't make sense to take 5 cars, or even 5 cabs. It was a fun ride for sure, but I was heated because I made a hot CD, but only the first two songs burned. So we pretty much are all sick of Cookie Jar (Gym Class Heroes) and Live your Life (TI, Rhianna) with those being the only two songs working on the CD. Either way, we got up to campus, went to a tailgate with a bunch of Brett's high school friends, and then headed down to the field for the game. Brett and I were literally right on the sideline for warm ups, and the entire game, so it was fun to watch these dudes in action. The linebacker from USC Rey Maualuga is one of the most imposing dudes on a field I've seen. This cat literally seems like he's trying to send a message every time he hits someone. Watching all four linebackers in that game was incredible. Ohio State's James Laurinaitis and Marcus Freeman and USC's Rey Maualuga and Brian Cushing are all up for the Butkus award, and watching them fly around made me understand why. Those dudes are absolute animals.

Now, I'm not going to act like I know college football too well, but I thought it was going to be a little closer of a game. I definitely didn't think Ohio State would get smacked the way they did. But oh well, it was definitely a fun experience being so close to the game. Brett was heated because Amare Stoudemire was standing right next to us in the front, and clearly, no one could see over him! Definitely missed a good 10 plays during the game not being able to see around that cat. I think we're actually going to go to a few more games this fall, so I'll be sure to give you a heads up.

If you haven't seen Meet the Parents recently, watch that ASAP. I remember it being hilarious like 4 or 5 years ago, but it's SO much funnier now. I watched it on Thursday and I was in absolute tears for the majority of the movie. I don't know if it's because I'm a little older now, and I can imagine how awkward all of the situations in the movie would be in real life. Please watch it again, you won't be disappointed.
I've started to put together my thoughts on the season, and will post that later this week.

Here's a little video I shot from the game on Saturday, check it out!

Have a great day!

Playoffs!!!

What's good? I apologize for the delay in writing, it's definitely been a busy 11 days or so! I hope all is well and I've definitely got a lot of updates for you.
For starters, we beat San Fran last weekend, so we clinched a playoff spot! I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to head into the post season and have a shot and winning this thing. In my three years in the league with Jersey we were never even close to being in the playoffs, so this is definitely new and exciting for me. We've got our final regular season game this weekend, the following weekend off, and then the very next weekend (23-24), we head to Boston for the playoffs! If you've got some free time, you'll have to check out the games on ESPN and ESPN 2, but I'll update you on that a little closer to the date.
The Nike Elite Lacrosse camps last week were the best camps I've ever had the opportunity to be a part of. We had most of the top players from all around the country all on one field working out and competing against each other. We had 4 different locations, and our best talent in my opinion was at Hofstra. Connor English (UVA commit) and Matt White (UVA commit) were two of the better high school players I've ever seen. It was definitely a successful tour and there's no doubt in my mind that the Nike Elite Lacrosse Camp will become the premier camp for our country's top high school lacrosse players to attend.
I watched the movie Untraceable last night, anyone ever seen it? It's a pretty dark movie, not too sure I liked it too much.
Fired up for the olympics to start tomorrow? I know I am, been waiting for awhile for those to start. I've been digging all of the different promotional commercials that they've been running for the past month or so.
I'm pretty fired up because I finally stopped being lazy, went to the store and grabbed a new PSP charger! I left mine in Italy about 4 months ago and I haven't had my PSP to play with on flights since then simply because I kept putting off going to get a new charger! Lazy, I know but I got it back, so hopefully flying will be a little less boring now.
Anybody watch that new show Buzzin' on MTV? Those two cats are hilarious and pretty talented as well. Not even going to try and front, I had no idea who they were before the show. And to be honest, I probably wouldn't have even known they had a show, but it comes on after Run's House and you know I get down with Run's House! The new season has been GREAT! Catch it last night? If not, check out how Diggy handles himself in a few meetings. Pretty impressive for a 13 year old. I'm definitely excited to see what this cat comes up with for his clothing line. If it's hot I'll have to make sure to hook up my younger cousins with some of it!
That's it for the most part. Just hanging around California this week catching up with everything, or at least trying to. We play our game down in Orange County this weekend which should be exciting. We normally play at the Home Depot Center (Carson), but we're playing in OC at a new venue, as I think we're considering moving down there next year! We'll see how it goes.
Well, time to get out and get things going for the day, but I'll get at you soon.
Have a great rest of the week,

San Fran Recap

What's good YB family? I hope you all had great weekends! Mine was a good one for sure!

We played up in San Jose against the San Fran (Dragons) team. We got our second W which is nice. I definitely haven't been 2-1 since college to start a season, so it's a nice feeling for sure. It was a tough game, and another great atmosphere. The Dragons organization did a great job putting together the game as the fan support was great, and it was very organized after the game in terms of meeting all of the kids at the game.

The game went back and forth at the beginning, San Fran's got some ridiculously talented players. One of my favorite players to watch in this league is Jake Byrne (former Hop teammate) because he's stick work and shot are so unique. He's capable of scoring from anywhere on the field and he's crazy accurate as well, so it's fun to watch him play. Just got to make sure you don't give him too many opportunities because he doesn't miss often. He definitely got a couple on us on Saturday night.

Our defense played well, and Mickey Jarboe did his thing in the goal as usual. As I mentioned last blog, I think our defense is one of the best in the league for sure and I think once again they proved why. I'm not sure I've seen a defender 'd-stick' someone as much as D.J. Driscoll (defender on our team) does every game.

Offensively, we're still not there yet, but this weekend was definitely a step in the right direction. The key for us is going to be balance. We don't rely on one person to score all of our points or goals, we've got a lot of talented guys on the field and we're all slowly finding our roles. In our game against San Fran, we picked up the midfield scoring a bit which will be extremely important the rest of the way. I had 2 goals, Chazz had 3, Casey had 3, Downing had 2 and Buckely had 1. Our attack of, Hubbard, Riorden and Watson will score a lot of goals for us, so it's our job as middies to take some of the pressure off of those guys by opening it up from the midfield. We're still not shooting the ball great, but with each game that passes, we're slowly improving.

It was a great win on the road for us, and we've got another big game against Denver this weekend in L.A.. They definitely smacked us in our first game against them at the beginning of the season (ha, 2 weeks ago). So, we've got to get in a lot of shooting this week and be ready to go when those guys come to L.A.. this weekend.

Last night before I left, I was sitting in my hotel room waiting to go grab dinner and I ended up catching a show called "100 most hilarious moments of all time" and I watched the whole thing and nearly wet my shorts I was laughing so hard.

I was able to find two of the funnier clips on Youtube, so check them out....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ztr2bOtdByA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG_VrXvqoMY&feature=related

Apparently, both people in the videos were ok, so it's ok to laugh. You know it's funny!

I'll catch up with you all soon, I need to go get a run in and get some shots on the goal!

Kanye

Well, I had ery intention to write about how excited I am about the start of training camp this weekend (which I'm fired up about) and talk a little bit about my thoughts and confusion on the NBA playoff's, but after going to the Glow in the Dark Tour last night, I felt the need to tell you all about how CRAZY it was!

Me and my boys Brett Hughes (LA), Joe Walters (Rochester), and Xander Ritz (LA), went to the Kanye West concert last night in LA and it was off the chains! For starters, I think it's always interesting to see the different types of people who attend a Kanye concert, that cat has definitely got fans of all different backgrounds. It was also nice checking out everybody's shoes, felt like everybody had some kicks on that I hadn't seen before, I got to step my game up.

Anyway, Lupe, Rihanna, and NERD performed as well, but the show with out a doubt belonged to Kanye. He performed about 14 or 15 songs, by himself on a stage with NO dancers, NO hype man, nothing! It was out of control the way this cat was able to control the whole stage, keep everybody engaged and literally not slow down once. The guy has ridiculous passion for performing, you can definitely tell it's what he was born to do. To see a sold out stadium of people singing every word to every song was so energizing.

There were people of ALL ages at the concert, it was ridiculous. A little guy a few seats to the right of us couldn't have been any older then 12, and sat playing his PSP until Kanye got on (at 1030, concert started at 730) then sang every word to every Kanye song. There was a 52 year old woman standing in front of us, and while I definitely had some issues with a few of her dance moves, to see her feeling the music rapping every word was definitely something I've never seen before.

If the tour comes to your area, GO! It's worth every penny you spend buying the ticket, food, parking, and any other expense. The guy is an absolutely super star and when it comes to entertaining a crowd and putting on a show, I'm not sure I've seen someone do it better (MJ used to, but I was too young to see any of his shows live unfortunately).

I'll get at you all before the week is over, and seriously, if it's in your area, get to the Glow in the Dark tour!

My NBA playoff picture

I hope all is well with everyone in the Yard!! I had a busy weekend after our tough loss on Friday night. We spent the entire day on Satuday at Great America Park up here in Santa Clara. We had fun riding the rollercoasters and exposing the Stealth and the game of lacrosse. We are putting a real push to try and get as many people as possible to our first place battle with Colorado on Friday, as well as our home playoff game. On Sunday, I was back into San Fransisco touring aound some company. All in all, a busy weekend.
I've already discussed my NHL thoughts with everyone, so today I am going to try the NBA...even though we are already breifly underway.
In the East, I see all the higher seeds going to the second round with the Pistons and the Celtics going to the Eastern Finals. I am going to go agains conventional wisdom and take the Pistons to win the East. Not only are they my team, but I like their make up. They are the true essense of the word "team" and they work incredibly hard on the defensive end. They also have tons of Championship experience as well as enough infusion of youth. I do think the Celtics are good, but I think in a seven game series their lack of depth will show......who knows. Pistons to win the East, basically because they are my team!!
In the West, it is a whole nother can of worms. They're are no glaring mismatches in the first round like in the East, but I am still going to call all the favored teams to win their respective series' in the first round. I wanted to go with the Mavs, but after watching game one, I simply like Paul too much!! They are tougher than the Mavs and will go further because of it. But their depth will catch up with them in the second round, when the Spurs beat them in six. The Spurs will get by the Suns in what may be the best series of the entire playoffs. Again, I will go with the better team, and they know how to win as a team......as they showed in game one. Their game seven home floor advantage will pay off big. In the other second round series, I like the Jazz. I don't want to go against the Lakers, but if they don't get their big man back, they will get pushed around in the paint against the Jazz. Their front court is tough, and they have a gem in Williams. In the Western Final I am going with the Spurs over the Jazz and I am going to bore everyone and say that the Spurs will go on to lose to the Pistons in the NBA final in Six!!
Those are my thoughts, I'm sure two months from now we can all have a good laugh about how little I know about basketball!!
By the way, I had the Sharks and the Habs in the NHL final and unless these next two days are good to me, I could be in trouble. GO HABS!!!
Until next time,

Rome Lacrosse Video

As I mentioned a few weeks back, I filmed tons of videos while in Rome, and here's one from one of the clinics that Joe and I did while we were there. I've got about 3 more, so I'll be sure to post those in the next few weeks?

Anybody see Lebron's dunk last night? Had me whilin' out this morning when I saw Sportscenter.

Anyway, have a great Tuesday, and I'll get at you before the week is over.

Training

What's going on everybody? I hope you guy's have had a GREAT week. Mine has been pretty smoothly actually which is nice, finally got in a bit of a routine out here.

I wanted to write quickly and just talk about the important of GREAT training. Both Brett Hughes and I have been working out with Chris and Doug Gizzi and it's been incredible. Training has completely changed in the past 5 years or so, and for you kids out there it's extremely important to get to a gym to meet with a trainer, or get online and do some research and figure out how to really train for your sport.. The day's of going into the wieght room and doing a few exercises, and heading out and doing a few sprints are over, and if you continue to train only that way, you will never reach your full potential as an athlete.

What I've learned in my time thus far with the Gizzi brothers is the importance of having correct technique when running and changing direction, the importance of breathing and body control. For one reason or another, I have a tendency to hold my breath constantly when I 'm running, which in the past has caused me problems. My entire athletic career, the right side of my body has been doing the majority of the work, so I'm learning to activate all of the muscles in my body, and it's making me faster and more explosive.

Go to their site and check out their work! These guy's are awesome, and a huge part of taking training to the next level. http://www.zoneready.net/ . Just by looking at me do body wieght squats, they are able to tell what muscles are weak, which muscles I use, which part of my body works the hardest, it's pretty crazy stuff.

I feel like I'm getting in the best shape of my life and I'm more explosive then I've ever been, I can't wait for this season to start.
Training is all about becoming a better, faster, stronger athlete, and that's exactly what the Gizzi brothers are doing for Brett and I.
Make sure to get to their site and check it out, and have a relaxing weekend.

Parker Jackson, Legacy Lacrosse Cup

I was fortunate enough this weekend to be invited to participate in the Legacy Lacrosse cup down in Georgia. Parker Jackson was a driven young man who passed away last year in a car accident. His family put together a tournament in his honor to help to spread his legacy and what he stood for to as many young adults as possible. I spoke at the banquet on Friday evening, and attended a lot of the games on Saturday afternoon. At the end of the games on Saturday, I put on a shooting demonstration for all for all of the teams at the tournament. This weekend was about so much more then lacrosse. It was about teaching kids the correct way to live their lives. To be driven, have great character, and to be passionate about everything you do. Parker Jackson was a kid wise beyond his years, who in his short time on this earth created a legacy.

The way the Jackson family welcomed me to be a part of this event with open arms was incredible. I'm amazed that with such a painful and difficult situation, the Jackson family has focused on keeping Parker's legacy alive, and teaching kids to live a life of purpose.

There's no way I'll be able to capture how special Parker or this event was through my writing, but if you could take 5 minutes of your day and go to www.legacylacrossecup.com and read about what an amazing human being Parker was and what this tournament was about, you'll understand why it had so much of an impact on me. If you do make it to the site, please make sure to watch the short video "In a work, Who is Parker Jackson?"

I never knew Parker personally, but I'll never forget him, and what he stood for.

Pre-Game Songs

What's good everybody? I hope you all had great weekends. I'm writing this blog sitting on the plane riding back from Rome to NYC, then eventually to Baltimore tomorrow around 11am or so.
Rome was definitely amazing, and the fact that the sport of lacrosse is growing internationally is great to see.

While we were there we actually had two clinics set up by Fabio Antonelli (who you'll see video off shortly), who is a 22 year old who more or less runs all of Italian lacrosse. He set up a few games this past Friday and Saturday and guys came in from Finland, Germany, Austria, and the Italian guys put together a team as well. For a few hours on Friday and Saturday, Joe Walters and I put on a few clinics and tried to teach the guys as much as possible. The weather was miserable Saturday during the games, but they seemed to think it was great running around soaking wet and muddy, so it was a success.

Being in Rome and being able to see all the incredible architecture was an experience I'll never forget. St. Peters was the most memorable for me because of how beautiful it was, and we were actually able to walk around with someone who explained everything we were looking at. We actually were able to walk down where every pope has been buried, which was very fascinating, and also a little strange. Definitely an experience though. Fabio did a great job of making sure Joe and I got to see everything we could in 7 days. We did a ridiculous amount of walking, but I was digging it. Didn't even think about it really, we were just so busy looking around at everything.

I think we're actually headed back to Rome next November to run a camp, so that should be great. Not only will it be nice to continue to spread the game of lacrosse, but it will be incredible to get back to Italy and hopefully travel around a bit.

Changing pace a bit, I'm sitting here trying to put together my pre-game warm up list on my Ipod for the season. I'm not a jump around screaming type dude as far as getting mentally prepared for games, I just like to sit by myself, shoot a bit and listen to music. For all you athletes out there, what are some of your favorite pre-game songs? Or for sports fans, what songs get you going? Ya don't't have to be an athlete to enjoy songs that get you pumped up! I'd be interested to hear what you guys think! Let me know! I'll list off a few of my all time favorites.

The Sky is the Limit, Weezy
Second Round Knock out,, Canibus
Patiently Waiting, Eminem/50
Notorious Thugs, Biggie/Bone Thugs
So Seductive, Tony Yayo/50
Kick in the door, Biggie/Eminem
Renegade, Jay-Z/Eminem
Stronger, Kanye West
Can't tell me nothing, Kanye West
I'ma Straight Rider, Tupac
Till I Collapse, Eminem
Dead Presidents, Jay-Z
We taking over (Remix), R. Kelly, T-pain, Lil Kim, Akon, Jeezy
We taking over (Remix), Weezy
I get Money (Remix), 50, Ludacris
I get Money (Remix) 50, Diddy, Jay-Z

I could definitely go on for a few pages here, but I think I'll stop here. Let me know some of your favorite re-game songs!

I'll be sure to check in later this week, and post some pictures as well. Here's one of my favorite pictures from the trip.

SPARQ Commercial

So here's the SPARQ commercial I've talked about a few times! I'm sure some of you guys have seen it already, but for those that haven't, once you see the frog jump, I'm coming up! Don't blink or you may miss me! I'm not in the commercial very long at all (but you should have seen my family whilin' out during American Idol Wednesday night when it aired for the first time), but you got to start somewhere right?! I'll take it. It was incredible to film it and be in a commercial with some of the best athletes in the world. I'm off to NYC for the weekend, and then for a vacation in Italy, then it's time to really begin to get mentally and physically prepared for the season, I can't wait. I'll definitely check in next week.

Have an amazing weekend.

Be great.

Bouncing around again...

What's good YB family? I hope everyone is doing well. I still can't believe the last video I put up. How Todd knocked off that Gatorade bottle in his first try, I'll never understand.

Amway, things with me have been great for the most part, just crazy busy. So far in the New Year I've been to ATL, AZ, Vegas, NJ, Philly, Virginia, DC, Baltimore, and Orlando in a few days. It's been a lot of jumping around, but it has definitely been productive, so I'm not complaining.

This weekend should be a lot of fun. The US team is headed down to Orlando to play against Duke. It will be a lot of fun to b able to get back together with some of the guys from the team in 06', as well as the new players added to the team. I'm definitely looking forward to getting back on the field against some college players and getting up and down a bit. It will be nice to get some live game action in, as I've been waiting to play competitively for a good 4 months now.

I've got about 3 weeks left before my move out to California, and I'm starting to get pretty excited. The drive across the country should actually be a lot of fun as well. We're stopping in Ohio, St. Louis, Denver, Utah, Vegas, and then headed into California. I've never done anything like that before, so I'm definitely starting to get jacked up about it. I'm sure I'll complain for a good part of the trip, but in the end, I'm sure I'll look back on the drive and be happy that I did it.

I had one of our Run N' Gun camps yesterday in Baltimore on MLK day and it was definitely a good one. Two of my boys Benson Erwin and Brett Hughes came and worked it with me, and my parents came, and other family members came through and hung out for a while as well, so it was definitely a good day. I've got to take a video of camp dodge ball, because it very well may be the funniest thing in the world to watch. The kids split into two teams, just like regular dodge ball, keep their equipment on, and toss tennis balls at each other! It doesn't hurt when you get hit with a tennis ball and you've got pads on, but it makes a loud sound, especially when you catch one in the helmet., and the kid usually dos some type of overly dramatic fall (and is laughing the whole time). I actually broke my nose last year at camp playing, which wasn't too much fun. But it wasn't from being hit from a ball, a kid and I collided and he had on a helmet, and I didn't?it happens.

Anyone seen the new Kat Williams, Tracy Morgan, and Ice Cube movie? Looks pretty funny to me, I'm definitely going to check it out this weekend if I get time in Orlando.

The video I've attached is me being stupid while we had a little down time at the shoot we had a few weeks ago?

That's about all I got for now. If you live in the Orlando area, definitely get out to the game this weekend, it's definitely going to be some good lacrosse. And if you are able to make it, make sure to say hello!

As always, feel free to shoot me lacrosse questions, and I'll dedicate a whole blog to your answer!

Have a great rest of the week?

Donovan McNabb shout out

What's good YB? I hope everyone is doing well.

So my boy at STX, Todd Schreiner is a HUGE Eagles fan, and an even bigger Donovan McNabb fan. We were messing around before a video shoot we had last week, and he had a little message for Donovan McNabb and the Eagles.

Now, I'm not hating on his game, Todd is a great goalie, but I'd be willing to be that if he tried this 10 times in a row, this wouldn't happen once! I guess everything happens for a reason though. Check it out.....

I apologize for the short message, I've been out at Nike in Portland for the last few days, and time has definitely been limited. But I'll definitely check in this weekend, or at the latest early next week and fill you all in on what's been a crazy new year thus far.

College players, past and present

As I mentioned in my last blog, I've been getting a lot of e-mails the past month or so asking who my favorite college players of all time are and who are my favorite current college players, so I figured I'd just respond with a blog.

Unfortunately, I started paying attention to college lacrosse a bit late, so I don't go too far back in my knowledge of great players as far as actually seeing them play goes. There are all time great like Joe Cowan, but I clearly wasn't around to see them play.

In high school, when I first started getting into college lacrosse I was drawn to players who had a great split dodges or moves that I could relate to, so instantly, I was drawn to Jay Jalbert, and A.J. Haugen. What stuck out to me about Jay was his competitiveness, and how he was just a complete animal all over the field. He rarely came off the field, whether it was playing defense, offense, wings of face off's, everything. He's definitely one of the reasons, if not the main reason I wanted to be an all around middie and never leave the field. As for A.J., his split, and shot on the run was absolutely ridiculous. It was so smooth, and he could go either way with it. Right handed or left handed, didn't make a difference. It was an honor being able to play along side both of them during the world games in 2006, and one of my fondest lacrosse memories thus far.

As for now, clearly I'm a bit biased to my boys over at Hopkins, but there are definitely a few other middies I like to watch. Maxx Seibald of Cornell is definitely great to watch. He's able to do everything on the field from facing off, to defense, to offense, to wing's of face off's. He's an old school middie, and the game needs more players like him. His teammate John Glynn is the same way, and it was great watching him last year. I'm definitely looking forward to watching those two midfielders this year with out a doubt. If you do get a chance to watch them, notice that they're both great leaders too, and they'll do whatever they need to on the field for their team to be succesful.

And of course, my two boys at Hopkins, Paul Rabil and Stephen Peyser. I'd have to go with these two as my two favorite current college players. They've both developed into tremendous all around players, with Stephen becoming dominant at the face off X and Paul becoming dominant on the wing's. They're both gifted athletically, and have always been great dodgers and both have great shots with either hand on the run. The most impressive thing about Rabil is his competitiveness, the kid HAS to win in everything he does, and its' driven him to become arguably the best player in college lacrosse.

So those would be my four favorites right now, Glynn, Seibald, Peyser, and Rabil. All midfielders (wierd), and all capable of completely taking over a game.

There are definitely other players I've loved watching over the years. Corey Harned was a long stick middie at Hopkin's a few years back who was great to watch. Just able to get up and down the field, GREAT on wing's of face off's and just an all around great player.

Though he's a big part of the reason I didn't get two ring's in college, Tilman Johnson was incredible to watch back at Virginia. In the National Championship game my sophomore year in college (Hop vs. Uva) he made some of the best saves I've ever seen. Though I absolutely hated him when I played against him (because he was so hard to score on), he's one of the best goalies I've ever seen, and I definitely enjoyed watching him play (when it wasn't againt us).

So thanks for writing in and asking questions, and please continue to do so. I hope this provides some insight to who my favorite college players of the past and present are.
I've got to take my final trip to New Jersey today before moving out west in a few weeks, so it'll be nice to get back up there one last time.

I'll talk to you all soon.

KH

p.s. oh yeah, when I do write again, we've got to have a discussion about American Gladiators, because I've got some concerns....

LA Trade!

What's good everybody? I hope you guys had a good week and a great weekend.

I wanted to check in and give you all a heads up on a pretty big career move that just happened to me. I got traded to the L.A. Riptide (MLL team)! With my move around the corner out to the L.A., it's awesome news that the trade was able to go through. Being a part of the New Jersey Pride (my former team) was a great experience for me and I learned a lot from the players and coaching staff there. The fans, as well as the organization treated me very well and made the transition into the professional league a very smooth one.

With that being said, I'm extremely excited about the opportunity to play for the LA organization. The guys on the team are great people (and players) and it's the best run franchise in the league. They made it to the championship game last year and came up a goal short and I look forward to being able to contribute to the team however possible, and help to reach our goal of winning an MLL championship. With the chance to play along side of the most talented players (Spencer Ford, Sean Lindsey, Mike Watson, Gram Grill, etc.) in the game, I couldn't be happier about my current situation.

I've been getting a lot of e-mails recently with kids asking me what do I think about doubters or haters. So, rather then write back to all of those e-mails, I figured the easiest thing to do would be to write it in my blog. To be completely honest, I don't really pay attention to them. They're doing their job, which is to "hate" or "doubt" people. You've got to be confident in yourself and know that it's just some random cat's opinion. If you watch Kat Williams (hilarious comedian) stand up act, he actually has a whole section on haters, it's pretty funny. I won't quote him because of some of the language, but, the bottom line is, keep it pushing and completely ignore people who try and knock you down. It's not even worth getting upset over, or wasting time reading or listening to what they say. Be confident in yourself and work hard to earn the respect of your teammates, and that's all that matters.

I've also gotten a lot of questions asking about goals for the season, and I've got one. My sole goal is to win an MLL championship. Clearly, I want to play well individually, and contribute to my team as much as possible, but at the end of the day, all I want to do is win. If that means me playing a bunch of defense, or scoring goals, or dodging and moving the ball, or playing the wings of face off's, or anything else the team needs me to do, so be it. The season can't come soon enough.

I spent my weekend down in Hilton Head with my old Hopkins coach, Coach Pietramala, doing a clinic for a local youth league. Well, I did the clinic with the kids, and Coach Petro had a coach's clinic in the school. It was awesome being able to catch up with him as it's been awhile since we've gotten to hang out.

Anyone picked up a new Christmas CD recently? I'm trying to get in the Christmas spirit, but I'm not trying to listen to some old busted Christmas CD, so let me know if anyone's picked up a hot one.

Oh yeah, remember the little guy that was running by me consistently on the last video I posted? We took a picture before I left, check it out?

I'll catch up with you all soon.

Photo Shoot

What's good everyone? As usual, I had to fly back out west yesterday (you can see why I'm moving out here for a bit! The majority of my work for STX and Nike is out here) for a Nike photo shoot. It wasn't an awful flight actually, which I had expected, so that was definitely good news.

Anyway, once I got out here I pretty much jumped right in bed, because we started the photo shoot at 6:45am this morning! It was a bit rough waking up, but it was worth it. The shoot was for SPARQ training, which is a form of training that is taking the country by storm. From running with parachutes, to resisted and assisted running, to ladder drills, to octogon drills, box jumps, and more! I asked one of the guys there to film with my yardbarker camera, but he was filming with his Nike one for the Nike site, but he did say he'd give me the video (kind of behind the scenes type deal) so I can throw it up there, so hopefully I'll get that soon.

The shoot was DEFINITELY a lot more work then I thought it was going to be! It took about 6 hours, and we went through a load of different exercises and the photographer had to capture the angle just right, so we'd be doing one excercise for like 20 minutes straight! It seriously may very well have been one of the harder work outs I've had, just because of all the repetition. But I'm not complaining, being able to be associated with Nike has been a dream come true. I'd do it again right now if I had to (after an ice bath...).

What impresses me most about Nike is definitely the type of people working for the company. I've done a handful of photo shoots with them now and each and eveytime I'm impressed with the passion, energy and kindness of their employees. It's an amazing working environment with out a doubt.

I've got to fly back to NY tomorrow for a few clinics/demonstrations which will be filmed, so I'm excited for that. Being from Baltimore, I never really got up to New York too much as a little guy so it's always nice to get in there for a few days.

I've got a couple quick questions from a few things I was think about and reading about on the plane...

One, how in the world did Kevin Federline wind up ono DETAIL'S Magazine as Father of the year? Now I know his Ex-wife has had her issues, but I got to believe there are definitely some better dads out there. But I guess I could be wrong...

Secondly, go see Hitman if you are of age. It's quite entertaining and it doesn't involve too much thinking. So if you've had a long day and just want to kick back and watch an entertaining but not stresful movie, check it out.

Third, there are ton's of good movies on the way! Clearly Will Smith's joint is going to be off the chains. Angelina Jolie has got a new one called Wanted coming out that looks hot as well, so I'm excited for those two.

That's about all I got for now....

Oh yeah..I put a shooting drill video on the internet a few months back and for you guys who are new to the sport of lacrosse it could help you get a better understanding for the drills we do to improve our shooting. Here's the link!

Lacrosse 101

What's going on everybody? I know I just posted a few hours ago, but I got a message from someone that caused me to want to hop back on here and write a few things out. He stated that he wanted to hear more about my profession and responsibilities, the game of lacrosse, and how I got to where I am. He mentioned that somehow, my blogs were not making him interested in the sport at all, which is the last thing I'd want to do clearly. So, in an effort to give a bit more insight to my life and this sport, I wanted to write again.

For starters, a few people have asked, "what did you go through to get this life?" Good question. I probably had a similar path to a lot of athletes. I worked extremely hard to get better on a daily basis. Growing up in Baltimore I started playing lacrosse at a very early age (because my father played) and was fortunate enough to get looks from a handful of Division 1 schools by the time I was a junior in high school(Maryland, Virginia, UNC, Duke, etc). Ultimately, I picked (in my opinion) the best school in the world to play lacrosse, John's Hopkins University. Not only is the lacrosse program the most storied in the country, but academically, I knew I'd be challenged. I graduated in 4 years (2005) and won a National Championship my senior year (to this day, one of the best days of my life). After graduating, I was fortunate enough to make the National team, and traveled to Canada in 2006 to represent my country in the World Games. I also got drafted to play in the MLL for the New Jersey Pride.

As far as the life of a professional lacrosse player goes, it's unlike any other professional sport. There are no seven figure deals waiting for lacrosse players when we graduate college, and endorsement opportunities are difficult to come by. Professional lacrosse players play this game for FUN, not for the money (partly because it's not there!). Unlike other professional sports where you spend your year training for your season, professional lacrosse players spend our days working for a living. Most guys that play in the MLL (Major League Lacrosse) work as teachers, work on Wall Street, are in the service, are Coaches, are still in grad school, etc. It's IMPOSSIBLE to live on the money made just from playing professionally.

There are a handful of guys who work in the lacrosse business, and are able to make their living that way. My situation is a bit unique, and I'm very fortunate to be in it because I get to do what I love. When I graduated in 2005, I signed an endorsement deal with STX (the oldest and best lacrosse company, www.stx.com), as well as I signed on to be a full time employee of the company. I also signed an endoresment deal with Nike, which has been a dream of mine as far back as I can remember. My responsibilities for STX involve a lot of appearances/clinics in which I show my equipment line (as well as other STX equipment lines) and continue to spread this great game that's done so much for me (shooting/dodging demonstrations, etc). Outside of the traveling, I work directly with one of our product managers at STX and have learned how to manage my line's (K18 equipment/apparel) from start to finish, which has been difficult (with all the travel) but has proved to be very useful. I started a company with one boy's called Run N' Gun Lacrosse (www.runngunlacrosse.com), and we've got camps all over the country through out the year. Recently, I started another company called Playmaker Lacrosse, which will be a bit smaller scale, but I think the business plan looks good, we'll see.

I realize that our sport is NO WHERE near other professional sports that we all love to watch. The majority of the guys in the MLL all do camps, clinics, appearances, speak at youth leagues, and do anything else we can to continue spreading this game. At the end of the day, we're all (lacrosse players) are in this thing together and in oder to get the sport to the next level, it's extremely important for us to continue to spread this game. I'm fortunate to be able to travel around the country to area's like Texas, California, Denver and all of the other area's in which lacrosse is just catching on and continue spreading this great game.

My favortie part of playing in the MLL is that every weekend, I get to play against the very best lacrosse players in the world. The league is very small (only 10 teams) and each team is packed with incredible players. So as a competitor, it's amazing to be able to go out each week and play against the best there are.

Lacrosse has presented with me with SO many opportunities thus far in my life. Because of that, a real passion of mine is getting into the inner cities across the country to promote this game to underprivileged kids and show them the doors it can open for them. Lacrosse for LIFE (www.Lacrosseforlife.com) was a great way for me to be involved with people who had the same passion as I do. I'm excited about the move out west and being able to be heavily involved with the children. Currently, I'm in the works of putting something similar together in both Vegas and Baltimore, so I'll be sure to keep you all updated there.

The heart and soul of our game at this point in in college, and we all realize that. Memorial Day weekend, when the final four goes to a professional venue, and 55 thousand people pack in there to watch, it's the closest thing we've got to a professional sport.

Professional lacrosse is still in it's infancy stages, but it's awesome to be a part of it at this point. Hopefully when I'm older and lacrosse has gotten to the level that other professional sports are at, I'll be able to say I was a part of it at the beginning. 10 years ago, after college, there was no league (at least no organized one) for guys to aspire to play in. While we're not where we want to be as a professional sport, we still LOVE going out every Saturday from May-August and playing the sport we all fell in love with from an early age, and guys who are coming out of college have a league to aspire to play in.

Hopefully this has given a little more insight to professional lacrosse and my involvement in the game.

If you guys have any questions about lacrosse at, from people's opinion's of the sport, to the rules, or anything else you think of, feel free to write me a message, or post on the articles. It's as important for me to spread this GREAT sport on here to as many people as possible, as it is for me to keep you all informed with the crazy stuff I got going on in my life!

Have a good Friday night, I'm going to go for a run and try and enjoy a weekend in Baltimore with the family.

Oh yeah, get out to see This Christmas when you can, definitely a good one for the family.

I'll get at you soon with my funny thanksgiving stories.

Warm up before shooting demo

I had a shooting demonstration up in NJ a few days ago, and I had one of my buddies there take a little video of me taking a few shots before the actual demo. Nothing too crazy, but just a little something to get warm before trying to put on a good shooting demo for a group of young players.

It was a bit chilly out in Jersey, so I was rocking my new K18 hoody along along with my beanie hat! Have a good weekend, and I'll catch up with you all soon.

NBA starts tonight!!!!!!

I hope everybody had a good weekend, I know mine as usual was a bit busy, but definitely good. I was down in Arizona with my boy Joey Walters promoting our winter camp down there. Joe and I have got a camp business together called Run N' Gun Lacrosse, and we've got camps all over the country. Last summer we were in Vegas, Arizona, Michigan, York, and NY for camps. We've got about 4 this winter, and Phoenix is going to be one of our best locations. Joe and I stopped by this youth league and put on a big shooting demonstration, gave a talk and handed out a bunch of registrations. I always love going to spots like Phoenix where the game is really taking off, the kids are always so appreciative of anything we teach them, excited to learn, and just passionate about the game, it's energizing to be around.

As I mentioned in my last blog, it was homecoming there (ASU) so it was absolutely crazy! Entirely too much going on, especially for a laid back dude who HATES crowds. I was actually able to meet up with a few of my old college buddies who graduated 3 years before me, so it was great to see those guys. I couldn't believe how hot it was there, it was ridiculous! During our shooting demonstration around 2pm, it was 97 degree's and I thought I was going to pass out! It was out of control. Even with it being 97 out there, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as Baltimore is in the summer. It's so bad here you schedule your day only to be outside before 7am and after 7pm (and even then it's still sticky and gross out), so I try not to spend too much time in balto during the summer.

Anyway, moving on, I'm reading an awesome book right now called, "The 4-Hour Work Week." It's awesome! Any one who has an unconventional way of writing/thinking is always at the very least interesting to hear/read, even if you don't agree. I actually read half of it on the plane ride back from Phoenix yesterday and it really does make you question the way 90% of the people in American live there lives, interesting stuff. It's filled with GREAT quotes. A few of my favorites..

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect."

"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man."

"Many a false step was made by standing still."

It's a GREAT book thus far, and it's a pretty easy read. It's worth picking up and checking out, but don't sit down and read it before you go to bed thinking you'll fall asleep, you'll be up an extra 2 hours.

Anyone catch U.S. Senator Barack Obama on MTV last night at 7pm? I thought he did a great job. I've stayed fairly educated on the race, but last night was my first time sitting for an hour and watching him answer questions and interact with the crowd, I was very impressed. It should be interesting to see how this whole thing unfolds. I've always been impressed with politicians ability to remember EVERYONE's name and be able to really adapt to any and every situation thrown there way. It takes a special type of person to be able to do that. Granted their not always the most honest people in the world, but we don't even need to get into that, at least not here.

NBA basketball starts tonight! Yup! My sleeping patterns are about to be all jacked up, but I don't care, it's going to be worth every minute of sleep I miss. See the new SLAM magazine? A few pretty good articles in there, especially the one on Kevin Garnette, I really enjoyed it. Seem's like a real interesting dude. He definitely comes off as a very introspective and honest person, and I really hope he and the fella's do their thing in Boston this year.

It should be a very chill week for the most part. I'm pretty sure I've reached the age where dressing up for Halloween is a bit wack, unless I'm going to a Halloween specific party type deal, where I'm going to be in one place with all of my friends. The day's of dressing up and going down town to different places for the night are over with out a doubt. I'm pumped to take my niece out for a bit though. The mall is filled with little ones (like 3 and under) on Halloween night, so I know she'll get a kick out of running around there with all of the other kids, so that'll definitely be a stop I'll have to make I'm sure. I hope no older person dressed up tries to scare the kids, cause if he scares my niece I'll have to tackle him in front of everyone! Just kidding...kind of..
Anyway, that's all I got for now, time to get this day started and knock out all of the stuff I need to do before basketball starts tonight! I'll catch up with you all later this week.

Oh yeah, I shot a little video of my sister and her "twin sister" playing lacrosse on the beach in FL...she wanted to show everyone her signature move, so..here it is...

hahahaha, she's hilarious. I'll catch up with you all soon.

Intro to my family

As I wrote in my last blog, I was down in Sarasota with my family, and I took a second on the beach to give a quick introduction of the fam! This is the first of many video's to come! Please ignore my Dad's flexing..I know, a bit embarrassing, but he's an entertaining guy. We're just happy he started wearing longer shorts. He comes from that generation when there was a bit too much thigh showing..so we're happy he's made the transition. Anyway, have an awesome weekend, and here's a look into the people who have made me the person I am today.

Feeling naked down in FL....

I was down in FL for the past 6 days, and it was GORGEOUS! It was a bit more humid then I would have liked, but I can't complain man, that place is incredible. I was in Orlando for a few days (which I've been to several times), then to Tampa for a day, and then to the best part of the trip, to Sarasota. In Tampa and Orlando, I stopped by a few lacrosse specialty stores and checked out the lacrosse scene down there, and then at night usually headed to a local field and put on a big clinic for a couple hundred kids. It was definitely a lot of fun and it's awesome for me having the opportunity to bounce around the country and see lacrosse starting to grow in all of these new area's. I met a few kids down there that couple easily come up to Baltimore/NY (the two hotbeds of lacrosse) and compete with kids up there, so that was GREAT to see.

Once I got down to Sarasota, my family came! Wooohooo! I can't remember the last time we were all in the same place and got to spend a few days in a row all together! Sarasota was BEAUTIFUL, as you'll see in the video that will be posted in the next few days. For the most part, it was a VERY quiet area with not too much going on (at least where we were it was pretty chill, not much going on). When we'd walk out of the condo on to the beach there were like 12 people total I counted on the whole beach, it was amazing. The only problem was there was NO TV! WHAAAAAAAAAAT! I know i know, that should be that big a deal, but I was struggling! My little niece wakes up so early, so the only way to keep her occupied in the morning so we can stay relaxin in bed is to put on Elmo, so we had to buy a DVD and put it on my computer. Which brings me to my next issue, I couldn't get on the internet! I had NO idea what was going on in the world, no idea who won college football games saturday, no idea bout NFL sunday...it was definitely not a great feeling. I couldn't even access the internet through my phone! I felt absolutely naked! I guess at the same time it was a good thing to be away for a bit. I got to spend some much needed quality time with my family, and if I had the my phone/internet up and going, I'm sure I would have spent a lot of time checking e-mails and that sort of thing, so I guess it all worked out well.

I've been playing catch up this morning tryign to see what I missed! I heard the Raven's lost...that's not good news at al. I also heard not only did we loose, but we looked awful, but I'm not jumping to conclusions yet I'll check out the tape when I get time tonight. Any other good games go down yesterday I need to look into? Any good games in College football that I missed saturday? I'm sure there were.

The most annoying form of advertising has GOT to be 'blow-in' ads (the one's that when you open the magazine they just fall out). I'd be interested to know how many subscriptions magazines really get off of those. I can't stand those things. When you buy one of the larger magazine's, they are literally every few pages and they just fall right out. I can honestly say that I have NEVER taken the time to read one. I've definitely glanced at one if Carmen Electra is chillin on it or something like that, but 9 times out of ten, I ball it up and stick it in the trash. I guess these magazine people can hope that the blow in simply falls out and that ad's for their magazine are just scattered all over the street and that in itself is a form of advertising I guess. Seem's stupid to me. I hope they aren't expensive to do, because they can't be getting to much out of them.

I was reading Men's Vogue last night on the plane and the newest issue has got Denzel on the cover! Cat is so talented and it was nice to read an article about him, with him being out of the spot light for a bit. His new movie on November 2nd is definitely going to be the jump off, I can't wait. Anyone who is a fan of Denzel know's this cat has got a bad walk man, and this writer Trop Patterson, has the best explanation of it I've ever heard! It caputures it perfectly in this article..he makes the comment, "an unstoppable swagger with a hint of military bearing and nothing to prove.." That statement captures everything about that walk! That's some serious writing, I got all fired up on the plane reading it. If your a Denzel fan, or just a fan of good writing, pick up that magazine and read that article, you won't be dissapointed.

Not too much else going on, on my end. I've got a pretty hard work out coming up today which I'm not terribly excited about. Who is everyone going with tonight? Is it even going to be a good game? I've got Prison Break to watch at 8pm, so I'll miss the beginning of it anyway.

Any good new songs out? I feel like after this FL trip I am OUT of the loop completely...

I'm headed to Phoenix AZ this weekend for a few days, and it's homecoming at ASU so I think I'm going to the football game! I'm pretty jacked up, should be a lot of fun!

Keep your eye out for that video in the next few days...my sister has a nice instrcutional tip for you all...

Have an aweosme week, and I'll catch up with you in a day or two!
Here's a pic from one of my shooting demo's in Tampa...

KH

ps. oh yeah, some kid I talked to in Tampa brought up Silver Surfer in the super hero discussion...I wasn't thrilled! That guy is mean when he's on his surf board, but once that thing is out of the picture he's just like your kid brother jumping off the jungle jim trying to fly, it ain't happening!

Easy like Sunday morning....

What's good everybody? How was the weekend? I kno wit's a bit early to be up on a Sunday morning, but I slept my Saturday day away, and fell right back asleep last ight around 9pm, so I'm WIDE awake. Raven's game today baby!!! Yup! Can't wait.

Anyone do anything exciting this weekend? Mine was actually really chill, not too much went down. I got in from Portland late Thursday night, so I slept in Friday morning. I checked out a few condo's in downtown Baltimore on Friday morning, but nothing really jumped out at me. I actually got a deep tissue massage on Friday early afternoon and it was definitely needed! It hurt, but my back and hamstrings have been absolutely killing me recently, so it was definitely the right move.

Yesterday was homecoming at my old high school and my cousin currrently plays on the soccer team there so I went up there for a hot minute to support him. However, it was easily one of the longest adn worst trips of the fall. My friends and I have a HUGE issue with not planning anything out at all, and just kind of deciding what we're going to do, right before we do it. So, after going out Friday night, we all woke up, and decided, "Let go stop by school and watch Mario (my little cousin) play for a bit." We didn't factor in that it was the Baltimore marathon, and Morgan's (college in Baltimore) homecoming, so EVERY street was closed. It was absolutely ridiculous. We had to take the most round about way, didn't have any gas, we were all hungry and irritable and the whole trip was just a good hour and a half longer then it needed to be (usually can get up town to the school in loike 8 minutes).

Catch any good games this weekend? I definitely didn't. But I did eat some good Alaskan crab legs Not that football or crab legs have anything to do with each other, but they were definitely the the jump off.

Seen the Nike 6.0 line? If not, DEFINITELY check that out. It's by far my favorite clothing/shoes right now. The sweatshirts are ridiculously hot and the shoe's are crazy too. The t-shirts have some good designs as well, but the hoodies/shoes are by far the hottest stuff out right now.

My dads birthday is next weekend, so the family is headed to Florida from Thursday-Sunday, it should be nice as we all don't get to hang out together too often with my crazy schedule. I picked up everyone a lot of stuff from Beaverton last week on the Nike trip,l so I'm pumped up to surprise everyone with presents, especially Sage (my little niece), though she'll find the card board shoe box more exciting then the actual shoes.

I caught up on Prison Break yesterday as well! It's starting to pop off! Honestly if you don't watch the show please just go to the website and watch an episode from this season and you'll be hooked, it's that good.

The Raven's haven't had a home game in a minute, so I was planning on taking the video camera down and filming the Purple Patio (crazy party before Raven's games), but after talking to my boy about it, people are throwing drinks everywhere and it's crazy crowded. So I'm thinking one, I don't want drinks getting all over the camera (or me for that matter) nor do I want people grabbing at it and all that annoying stuff. But, tomorrow I'm going to film give a little tour of downtown Baltimore, so that should give you some insight to where I live and what it's like down here in Balto!

My mom and my god mother went down to Atlantic City yesterday (random, I know..I thought the same thing). They're always taking little day trips like that, and I LOVE calling them during it because they always seem SO happy. I called a few times yesterday and at one point, one of them had just won $30 bones and you would think they hit the lottery! It was hilarious. Then I called again and they were sitting on the beach (last I checked the weather, it was like 62), but I can't figure out how they were enjoying that! I know my mother LOVES the ocean, so I guess it was nice for her to get back to it for a bit. Anything that makes her happy, makes me happy, so I guess I shouldn't judge (even if sitting on a cold beach doesn't sound too entertaining).

So I've been thinking a lot lately...what's the best shoe ever made? I know we could break it down into different categories, like basketball, casual, running, etc..So lets just keep it has overall best. Any thoughts? I've definitely got my vote, but I'm going to hold on to it for a bit until I hear some other thoughts.

I'm going to attach a few pictures to this post, just to give you all a better insight to my life and what I do. The one's on a field with ton's of kids around are when I'm doing a shooting (lacrosse) demonstration (I'll be filming one next weekend in Florida to post). So enjoy the pictures or hate on them, either way works for me!

Have an awesome Sunday, and I'll catch up with everyone this week sometime. I leave for Orlando on Wednesday morning, so I'll try and check in before that.

Yessir.

First Saturday in 5 months free!!!

What's going on YB family? I hope everybody had a great week. I know mine was amazing being back in Baltimore for the entire week. I got to see my family, clean up around the house a bit, and just relax which was incredible. I guess I would definitely trade it all if it meant my team got to be in the play off's, but there's always next year. Oh yeah, almost forgot, for anyone that lives out in Vegas or close enough to drive there, I am going to be playing in a tournament there on Sept 21-23, and it should have some pretty good competition so come check it out if you've got some time! In lacrosse, one of the unique things about the sport is that there are tournaments held all over the world, where any sponsor can enter a team and more often then not, the best players around are at these tournaments so it's great competition. There are torunaments all over the country (Vail, Ocean City MD, Lake Placid, Hawaii, Portland, Miami, etc..) and there are also tournaments all over Europe as well. Professional guys aren't allowed to play in any tournaments during the summer (which is our season (May-August) because of obvious reasons (can't get hurt during the season playing in tournaments). These tournaments are at the very heart of our sport, and it's a great way for fans to interact with the players. The fan's sit right on the side lines and after the game everyone goes and hangs out together at the bar, or people are grilling on the field, it's really an amazing atmosphere. I love playing in those tournaments and I'm excited to get out to Vegas and get another one going!

Speaking of excited, it's football season baby! Yes! And Basketball is right around the corner, fall is by far the best time of year. Living right in downtown Baltimore a few blocks away from M&T bank (Where the Ravens play), there is NOTHING like a sunday morning when the street's are lined with people dressed in purple, everyone just so excited about the game that's about to go down. I literally plan my whole weekend around what time the Ravens game is on Sunday, so I can't wait. As for basketball being around the corner, it's always been my first love so I can't wait to watch this year, especially with all the young talent coming in the league. I've got to pick a team this year I think though. I've always been a player fan. There are like 5 or 6 players that I am a huge fan of and I carefully watch them all season long, but as far as an actual team that I'm loyal to, there hasn't been one since the Bulls in the 90's. I know, lame, I've got to step my game up a bit. I could jump on the Wizards bandwagon like everyone else in Baltimore did with them being the closest team to Balto and Agent 0 playing so well, but I think I'm going to hold off on that for now. I'll pick a team sooner, or later, and I'll be sure to keep you updated. I'm excited to watch Greg Oden and Kevin Durant play this year as well. It was pretty cool to see two young guys in the college game last year completely dominate. They're two of the most talented athletes I've seen in awhile, and both seem like great people and hard workers, so I know they'll do well.

Alright, so for the most part, I got some good feed back on the most recent debate between my boys, and I appreciate it. But as usual, we've been arguing again and I need some more feed back. So, two quick questions, for starters, what's the best sitcom ever? I've got my opinion on this one, and I feel very strongly about it, and I'm pretty sure there's not an argument that I can't win about this topic! So, what do you think? Top to bottom BEST sitcom ever. Not funniest. Not most dramatic. Not most realistic. Simply THe BEST sitcom ever. Yup, there should only be one show in your head right now and it should be about a big eared kid from Philly, but I'll get more into my opinion there after I hear some of your thoughts.

Secondly, ok, it's hard to ask....I'm gonna go for it...Is Justin Timerlake cool? I'm havin a real serious internal battle these days. I'm a fan, I always have been, and I think the dude is disgustingly talented. I went to a concert of his in VA a few months back and he did EVERYTHING. I'm talking key board, guitar, piano, got on the drums a bit, danced and sung all night....I haven't seen someone entertain like that this Michael (yup, I said it). I'm not putting him on that level, I'm just saying as an entertainer this dude is CRAZY good. So my best friend Bense can't take him seriously because of JT's little stint in the boy band. Say's he's soft, sounds like a girl, almost cried when he got punk'd...All valid arguments I guess, but the there's literally NOTHING he can't do when it comes to music. He went from boy band lead singer, to best friends with Tim, doing songs with Snoop and 50? I'm saying, not too many cats can pull that off. In fact, I'm going to his concert again in LA on Sept 19 right before the Vegas tournament I'm playing in! Yup, I'll say it, i'm a fan, guy's got a lot more talent that most other people in the game right now. What do you think?

Well, it may be time for me to roll out of bed and go up to my parents house and play with my niece fo a bit. Actualy...I just checked the weather and it say's it's supposed to be 102 here today, that's absolutely gross, I may not leave my house all day because of it, and I'm now in an awful mood!

Watching MTV right now, last question, what's the best song of the summer? I think there have got to be a couple up there. Soldier boy? Umbrella doesn't count because it was played entirely too much and I don't like the music video (though the remix with Chris Brown is hot).

Alright, that's it for now. I'll be sure to check in again next week. Talk to you all soon and have a GREAT weekend.

Introdution to the YB world/ ramblings from the beach...

What's good everyone? Well, before I dive in and start tossing my opinions around, I figure It'd be smart to introduce myself since I don't play a mainstream sport. My name is Kyle Harrison, and I play professional Lacrosse for the New Jersey Pride (Major League Lacrosse). I went to Johns Hopkins, graduating in 2005 (as well as scooping up a National Championship that year baby). After graduating, I signed with the oldest and best Lacrosse Manufacturer, STX, and came out with my own equipment and apparel line last year called K18 (K, first letter of name, 18, my number). Last summer, I played in the World Games with team USA in which we came in the heavy favorites, but lost to Canada in the championship game, which wasn't very sweet at all. My season ended about two weeks ago with my squad going 4-8, and clearly not in contention for the playoff's, but we did lose 4 games by 1, 3 of those being in overtime. So we really are right there, we've just got to put it all together.

As far as lacrosse goes, it's clearly not as mainstream as the majority of the other athletes writing on here, but it's growing. Just recently are actual "lacrosse players" able to make a living out of the sport. I'll post a few different websites you can check out to play a little catch up with getting to know the sport a bit better.

Anyway, I've been on vacation for the past few weeks, so I'm trying to play catch up with everything that's going on in the world at the moment, I've been out of the loop! What do you all make of this whole Vick situation? I'm fairly uneducated about the most recent events, and I'm a HUGE fan of his so I'm not sure which direction I'm leaning. I do know that I wish he and his family luck with whatever direction his life is about to take.

Oh yeah, I need your help with something.Me and my boys were sitting on the beach the other day (before the hurricane came and ruined the whole day) and we were in this in depth argument of who is the most dominant athlete in sports right now. We're not talking endorsement deals, or commercials or anything along those lines, we're looking for the BEST and most dominant athlete in sports, period. Some went with Tiger or Roger Federer, some went with Shaq...I'm not sure who I'm going with, it's still up in the air. What do you think?

Because of the most dominant athlete argument, the real argument started, which was who is the most dominant super hero. This argument was intense!! I think there are clearly some front runners like Superman and Wolverine, and there are clearly some bottom feeders like Batman (who could be your dad dressed up in a cape, cat has got NO powers!) and Robin (don't even get me started..). My boy Brett Hughes raised a good point though...do Neo (from the Matrix) and Aniken (from Star Wars), get to be involved? Cause if those two are involved, it changes everything. That's like throwing Jordan and Magic in a pick up game with your buddies. I'm still undecided here as well, but I'm abotu 90% sure I know who my guy is.

I know these aren't the deepest arguments ever, but it's been nice to relax on the beach for the past few days and not have a care in the world after a hard season. Oh yeah I almost forgot, my boy brought a Nintendo Wii with him to the beach and that thing might just be the best thing invented since Dulce de Leche ice cream. I've never had more fun playing a video game in my life, and the site of my father swinging like he's really on the tennis court was one of the funnier things I've seen in a few months. Not to mention he almost knocked my cousin out with one of this back hands. If you haven't tried one of those games yet, you need to get out and give it a shot, it's crazy what people are able to come up with these days with technology.

Well, that's it for now, time to get up and get the day started. I'm excited about being on YB and a part of such an amazing group of athletes. I'll get you all again soon, and let you know my first few days of the offseason are going.
