And You Will Know Him by The Trail of Dead ...

Originally published: June 23, 2011

As we come up on the summer, I thought it was time to revisit one of last year's interviews with Corey "Homicide" Williams.

Last summer was what he called the "Summer of Homicide." Those details will be explained later. For now, I just want to revisit the interview, one that got snipped from the new site on accident and only reached a small part of the public. We apologize for that and for not noticing the error when our site changed over. But we wanted make sure you remember what last summer was like for Williams: what he was listening to and what you can, hopefully, expect of him this upcoming summer -- minus that crappy money-hungry lockout we went through.

So, without further ado, I give you the Summer of Homicide.

How It All Started: Q&A With Best-Selling Author Jeff Pearlman

As I continue to gain traction in the sports writing world, one question that continually gets asked of me is, “Aaron, how did you get started in sports writing?” It seems like everyone wants to be a sports writer, reporter or TV personality, yet no one is entirely sure how to go about getting there
For me personally, it was easy. I wanted to write about sports, thought I had some valuable opinions, and when no one would hire me to do it out of the gate, I decided to start this very website that you’re looking at right now. I know, I know, that’s not a very good or inspiring story. Then again, I haven’t really achieved all that much success yet either.
So with that, instead of trying to answer the question myself, I took a different approach, and decided to start a series of long-form interviews with some of the most successful people in sports media. These won’t be podcasts (since some folks can’t listen at work), but instead, written out interviews, which you can read, digest, a...

Roadrunners Continue Momentum into '12 Cup Chase at Speedrome

Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome® fans saw one of the best title races in Roadrunner history this past season. The point lead shuffled several times between multiple drivers during the playoff atmosphere of the Chase for the Cup. Division veteran Ron “Junior” Crabtree had to win the final two main events to claim the crown by a mere 5 points over super rookie Aaron Smay. The highly competitive regular season saw 13 different racers pull into victory lane in the 27 features. That spread out list included 5 drivers who earned their very first Speedrome win.

The Roadrunners are set to continue that successful wave of momentum into the 2012 year. The class has an adjusted Chase for the Cup format that now resembles the track’s upper echelon Joe’s Value Construction Late Model and Peters Auto Service Stock divisions. This revised title-deciding layout comes courtesy of an extended Carmel Sod Spring Fling campaign to birth the new Saturday May 5th Roadrunner championshi...

The Indianapolis Speedrome Honors Champions at 2011 Banquet

The outstanding mark of motorsport accomplishment comes courtesy of a championship. Even more special is a title earned during the historic 70th anniversary campaign at the Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome®. These top 2011 point getters were recognized on Saturday November 19th at the annual awards banquet. This year’s celebration of speed was held at Jonathan Byrd’s Cafeteria in Greenwood, Indiana. Standings hardware as well as over $27,000 in point fund money was handed out for regular season success. Champions were also acknowledged in the pre and post-season series.

An energetic, record-breaking crowd came to this gala for fun, food, music, and to help pay tribute to these stars of the fifth-mile short track. The popular Speedrome Chase for the Cup title-deciding format was used to settle a half dozen division races during the season. Two of those prominent positions had drivers adding to their already strong personal history book. Speedy Teepe dropped his thi...
