The point lead shuffled several times between multiple drivers during the playoff atmosphere of the Chase for the Cup. Division veteran Ron “Junior” Crabtree had to win the final two main events to claim the crown by a mere 5 points over super rookie Aaron Smay. The highly competitive regular season saw 13 different racers pull into victory lane in the 27 features. That spread out list included 5 drivers who earned their very first Speedrome win. The Roadrunners are set to continue that successful wave of momentum into the 2012 year. Even more special is a title earned during the historic 70th anniversary campaign at the Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome®. These top 2011 point getters were recognized on Saturday November 19th at the annual awards banquet. This year’s celebration of speed was held at Jonathan Byrd’s Cafeteria in Greenwood, Indiana. Standings hardware as well as over $27,000 in point fund money was handed out for regular season success. Champions were also acknowledged in the pre and post-season series. An energetic, record-breaking crowd came to this gala for fun, food, music, and to help pay tribute to these stars of the fifth-mile short track.
