Raisman drug tested on set

Current Dancing With the Stars finalist and Olympic Gold Medalist Aly Raisman got a surprise drug test when she visited the set of Access Hollywood Live yesterday. Via Yahoo: The 18-year-old gymnast said the drop-in tests are "random," but questioned their timing, as she's about to compete in the "DWTS" Season 16 finale. "It's the World Anti-Doping Agency. They haven't [tested me] since the Olympics, and they choose the finale week of 'Dancing with the Stars' to come!" she said. "Out of all the days since the Olympics, they choose like, the craziest week." I understand the point of drug tests. I even understand the point of random drug tests. What I do NOT understand, is doing them live on Access Hollywood. Especially because the results take 4-6 weeks, so it's not like they can do a reveal at the end of the show. It seems like Raisman handled it well and has nothing to hide. But yeah. Weird.
McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman injured while on tour (Video)

McKayla Maroney and Aly Raisman were both hurt during the second night of the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions. The gold medal winners were performing along with the rest of the “Fierce Five” in Ontario, Ca., when they hurt themselves on the uneven bars Sunday night.
At around the 1:25 mark in the video above, you can see Maroney hurt herself on her dismount from the uneven bars. Maroney stayed down after falling and was carried off the floor. Then around the 1:55 mark, Raisman loses her grip on the bars as she’s finishing a Shaposhnikova move. She was able to walk back and rejoin the group, though neither girl participated in the finale.
USA Gymnastics said that Raisman had bruised knees, while Maroney was in the hospital undergoing testing on her left knee. She even tweeted a picture from the hospital on Monday.
And this is supposed to be an exhibition tour? It’s never an easy deal when it comes to gymnastics.

Gym responds to Gabby Douglas' bullying claims

Gabby Douglas has had a rather unique childhood. But strip away the gold medals and the global attention, and you'll see that she's just like any other 16-year-old. Douglas hasn't always been treated like such, though. The Virginia Beach native admits she was bullied by other gymnasts early on in life before eventually moving to West Des Moines, Iowa, to further pursue her Olympic aspirations. Douglas wanted her entire family to make the move, but she eventually moved away on her own, living with a host family while she chased her dreams. Douglas, as you'd expect, gets a little bit...

McKayla Maroney has hired bodyguards

McKayla Maroney’s parents are so worried about the safety of their daughter in light of her recent fame they’ve hired bodyguards to look after her.
The 16-year-old gymnast from Long Beach, Calif., won gold in the team competition at the London Olympics, and she also took silver in the vault — a disappointing finish that led to an Internet meme that went viral. Maroney’s success at the Olympics coupled with the online explosion of her meme has led to tremendous notoriety — some of which is unwanted.
“It has been a bit frightening, we have had marriage proposals,” Maroney’s mother, Erin, told the Daily Mail. “My daughter is 16.
“We have hired specialist security guards to make sure McKayla is never on her own. We don’t want another Shawn Johnson situation to happen.”
Johnson won four medals at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and was involved in a frightening situation with a stalker. Her stalker was arrested in 2009 and found guilty of felony stalking and burglary charges. He was arrested

McKayla Maroney discusses the "Not Impressed" face with David Letterman (Video)

The Olympic gold medal winning U.S. women's gymnastics team were guests on Tuesday's episode of The Late Show with David Letterman, where naturally the conversation turned to McKayla Maroney and her "Not Impressed" face that has spread across the Internet like wildfire.

Maroney made the now-famous face on the medal podium after settling for the silver medal in the women's vault event.

Maroney said "After I did it, the girls keep pointing it out, like 'You're doing the face again'". And now that McKayla is taught her teammates, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber and Kyla Ross, they all have their own version of the "Not Impressed" face.

FOX News Calls Out Gabby Douglas and Her "Un-Patriotic" Uniforms

You know it must have been a slow news day, when FOX News targeted gold medal winning gymnast Gabby Douglas for her "un-patriotic" uniforms.
Really.
FOX News reporter Alisyn Camerota took issue with it when she said that the "famous flag-style outfits" of past Olympics have been replaced by "yellow shirts, grey track suits and pink leotards"

Camerota and her guest on "America Live", radio host David Webb, targeted Gabby Douglas in particular, with Camerota saying, "You know, Gabby had that great moment, and everyone was so excited, and she's in hot pink -- and that's her prerogative,"
Webb, host of The David Webb Show on Sirius/XM Radio, said that America has lost our pride. "We're a very nationalistic nation," Webb said. "But we've also lost over time that jingoistic feeling."

Douglas fires back at hair critics

Jason Whitney

Gabby Douglas has some words for her social media critics
The 16-year-old Gabby Douglas is already wise beyond her years. Instead of letting the negativity of the new social media world bring her down, she took the mature route that many athletes lack in today’s sports. These racially sensitive comments, all came after Gabby Douglas won an array of gold medals, while setting American records in the process.

“I don’t know where this is coming from. What’s wrong with my hair? I just simply gelled it back, put some clips it and put it in a bun. Are you kidding me? I just made history. And you’re focusing on my hair? I just want to say, we’re all beautiful inside out. I don’t think people should be worried about that. Nothing is going to change,” she said.
“So you might as well stop with all the comments,” she added.

McKayla Maroney falls, wins silver in women's gymnastics vault

McKayla Maroney was heavily favored to win the gold in the women's vault in London, but as she came down on her second run her feet slid forward on the landing and she fell to the mat.
Maroney's first vault was the Amanar - a roundoff onto the takeoff board, back handspring onto the table and 2.5 twisting somersaults before landing. She had perfect form in the air, but took a hop on her landing, and came down out of bounds. She was deducted 0.3, but still scored a 15.866 with a 9.666 for execution.
The gold was all hers if she could land another great vault.
But on the second one, she seemed to land on the back of her heels. Her feet slipped forward and she dropped to the mat. She scored a 14.3, for an average of 15.083.
The rare error by Maroney opened the way for Romania's Sandra Izbasa and she took advantage of it winning gold on Sunday. Maroney won the silver medal and Russia's Maria Paseka took bronze.
Maroney had this to say via Twitter: "I really didn&#39...

Gabby Douglas will be on cereal box

Less than 12 hours after America saw Gabby Douglas win the gold in the women’s gymnastics all-around competition, Kelloggs had a mock-up ready for her appearance on their Corn Flakes box. Almost immediately after Douglas actually won the event, Kelloggs announced that Douglas, the first “woman of color” to win the all-around, would be their next cover girl.
I’ll go out on a limb and say that we’ll be seeing a lot of Miss Gabby in the upcoming months.

Aside from the cereal box appearance, Douglas will definitely cash in on her performance yesterday. According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, the winner of the all-around gold has profited heavily from it.

And like me, I’m sure you’re wondering why Douglas will be on the Corn Flakes box instead of a traditional Wheaties box. Rovell pointed out on Twitter that the Wheaties brand is “dying”.
