Robin Lopez is a freak!

Check out this post on AOLfanhouse comparing Robin Lopez to American Idol's Justin Guarini, Michelle Wie, and an ostirch. Pretty funny stuff, especially on the eve of Lopez going pro.

Johnny Dawkins Finally Gets His Shot

I'm very happy to see Johnny Dawkins finally get a shot as a big time head coach. I remember seeing him shred up the NCAA as a point guard and his playing career ended way too early. In the meantime, he spent 10 years as a Duke assistant learning from the best coach in the biz (sorry Duke haters). I would contend that Johnny Dawkins put Coach K on the map - it is fitting to see him get a shot at the big time.

Stanford looking at Larry Brown to replace Trent Johnson

After Trent Johnson left Stanford for LSU in the offseason, the Cardinal have been rather quiet about who they would be looking at to replace him. Well, if this news is accurate, that's a huge step up from Johnson both in name and basketball IQ. This is still a very weak rumor, but I think it's not completely out of the realm of reality. Brown has tried to return to the sideline in the NBA but nobody is taking the bait, so perhaps a nice college job would do? Your thoughts?

Trent Johnson leaves Stanford for LSU

In somewhat of a bizarre move, Stanford head coach Trent Johnson has agreed in principle to a new deal at LSU. Johnson has been at Stanford as the head coach for 4 years now, but was an assistant when he first started coaching. It seems to be an odd decision, except for the fact that LSU will pay him more and he won't have to deal with the academic restrictions Stanford has. Still, leaving Stanford for LSU seems a bit of a step down, as Stanford is always a Pac-10 contender and LSU is much of an afterthought in basketball. Your thoughts?

Lopez twins both leaving Cardinal for the NBA

After just two seasons and one NCAA Tourney appearance, Brook and Robin Lopez will forgo their final two years of eligibility and enter the NBA draft. The decision is final. Both have made moves to hire an agent, but stated they would at some point go back and earn that useless degree from Stanford. Trent Johnson gave his blessings, but you know he's cursing himself to sleep tonight as he realizes that after finally getting Stanford back to the top of the Pac-10, he's got to start all over again. They'll also be losing seniors Taj Finger, Fred Washington, and Peter Prowitt.

Breaking News the Lopez twins are going pro

The Lopez twins are going pro together.

Stanford sophomore Robin Lopez is joining his 7-foot brother Brook in entering the NBA draft.

The brothers made their announcement to The Associated Press on Monday through mother, Deborah Ledford.

Brook and Robin Lopez were celebrated recruits when they arrived at Stanford, helping lead the Cardinal to the Sweet 16 as sophomores.

Brook became Stanford's go-to guy, averaging 16 points per game. Robin was a defensive presence, averaging over 2 blocks per game.

It was expected that Brook would declare himself eligible for the NBA, but Robin was not so certain. They were prep stars in Fresno, Calif., and came to Stanford together. Now they will depart as a tandem, too.
