Some Tennessee Inmates have to Wear Pink to Seperate themselves from Vol Orange

The Elk Valley Times is reporting on a very interesting development. Lincoln County inmates in Tennessee have to wear pink instead of orange . The inmates can all blame Nathan Childress. This bright young gentleman escaped from his guards and ran up the street and just blended in. No one called the police.

NCAA Tournament — Everyone not Called "Tennessee" Thus Far

Well, as expected, there have been a few surprises in the Tournament so far. I being busy re-modeling my garage have been a bit slow to comment on these (as if anyone cared…). Be that as it may, here are my observations…

SEC should be called the SAC for "Sucks Ass Conference"

The SES sent 6 teams to the NCAA tournamet, and right now 2, Tennessee and Mississipi State won, and a 3rd Arkansas is leading IU. Georgia losing is not really a surprise, Kentucky showed that it was a deserving NIT team, and Vandy, what can you say, they were 19-0 at home and that somehow got them a #3 seed, I guess the comittee didn't look at their record on the road, 5-6 and their biggest win was over Utah State. So much for the SEC player of the year Shan Foster showing up in big games, he scored 13 and the Dores got rolled by 21.

4 Tough Years X 2 Seniors = 8 Days of Glory

Georgia's valiant effort against Xavier was the culmination of the season and a span of 8 days that saw UGA go from basketball obscurity and a losing season to miracle run. It was also the culmination of four years of struggles for Dave Bliss and Sundiata Gaines.

Xavier Rides Refs Whistlefest Against Georgia to Second Round...

Don't believe what you read about Georgia being some freaking Cinderella team, or being mentally or physically tired from the SEC tourney fiasco. They were clearly on their way to being the better team today, with leads as large as 11, except for a SLIGHT differential in freethrows: Georgia: 3-5 to Xavier 27-33; AND the fact that Xavier was allowed to play an incredibly aggressive style of defense that seemed to be fouls on Georgia's end. I HATE games like this. And I am disgusted by referees who call games like this. Ugly start to an exciting day at the expense of the Georgia Bulldogs who outplayed Xavier and truly deserved to be in the second round.

And in case you're wondering if any of those freethrows were at the end of the game when Georgia was fouling trying to catch up. The answer is, yes. Two of them.

ACC Angst…

I live in Raleigh, North Carolina, which is generally a really great place to live — except when it comes to college sports. My house and office are about 5 miles from NC State University. Considering how shitty the Wolfpack generally is in pretty much every sport other than Tiddly-Winks, that isn't so bad. Widen the arc just a bit more, however, and things get decidedly more annoying. Dook (a/k/a Duke) is about 15 miles up the road, and Tarhead State (a/k/a UNC) is about 9 miles beyond that.

I live in the bowels of ACC Country…

Cinderella Is For Shape Shaggers And Tossers, Meet Cinde-doro-rella-thy

A single fairy tale wench cliche really can't describe it justly. The UGA men's basketball program needs a combination of two fairy tale wench cliches. Not only is she the homely underdawg who had no chance of getting to the dance, but she's also the barely legal farm girl chick propelled into a magical dream-like journey by a vicious tornado, this one ripping into her home Georgia Dome. Thus began one of the most ridiculous WTFs of all college basketball WTFs.

First, how did we get here? Well, the storied history of UGA basketball consists of 102 seasons of futility: 9 total trips to the NCAA tournament (each since 1983, and 2 of which were eventually "vacated" due to NCAA sanctions), and 11 trips to the NIT (all since 1981, none back when it was actually a relevant event). Only 14 UGA players have gone on to play in the NBA, including of course the human highlight film. After Nique' left, the Dawgs beat Jordan's Heels on their run to the 1983 Final Four. That was the absolute pinnacle of success for the program, it's been pretty vanilla ever since.
