Blogging the Offseason: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Blogging the Offseason is a 30 team series in which I ask a blogging representative from each MLB team a series of ten questions about their desires and thoughts surrounding the offseason. Check out all of them here.

Marchand: Lackey Would Be Lucky To Get A Deal Like Burnett's

ESPN Radio's Andrew Marchand wrote today that he was told by an MLB executive that John Lackey would be lucky to get a deal like the five-year $82.5 million that A.J. Burnett got from the Yankees last winter. The executive also said that won't be that many buyers this winter, and Lackey could come down to a bidding war between the Yankees and Mets.

Damon Looking For Abreu Money

Ken Rosenthal wrote today that he believes that Scott Boras will use Bobby Abreu's two-year, $19 million contract as a baseline for a potential deal with Damon. Earlier this offseason, Jon Heyman said that before the playoffs "the Yankees were believed willing to go for two years and $16 million for Damon", so they'd probably go for another $3 million for the same length. I'd still much rather see Damon brought back on a one-year deal, but since Abreu got two years and S...

Abreu’s contract = Damon’s baseline

Ken Rosenthal (FOX Sports) speculates that super agent Scott Boras will ultimately use Bobby Abreu’s 2-year, $19M contract with the Angels as the baseline for Johnny Damon’s deal. Mike over at RAB considered this market influence a few weeks ago. In case you’re wondering, Damon was worth 3 WAR in 2009, while Abreu was worth [...]

"As for the bottom ranks... Josh Bard is at -7.3, the human swing machine, Miguel Olivo, is at -8.8, and the Living Stereotype, Mike Napoli, is at -9.7. No wonder the Angels think Mathis is a good defender."
