College Football: Buddy Ryan Bounty at LSU

After watching the Los Angeles Dodgers destroy the Chicago Cubs, I caught the late college football scores on ESPN. I then decided early Sunday morning to watch ESPN's replay of the Missouri - Nebraska game from Lincoln, NE.

Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel drove the #4 ranked Tigers down the field to score a touchdown in less than a minute. The game was less sixty seconds old and everyone in the house knew it was going to be a long night for the Cornhuskers, which the final score reflected: Missouri 52 Nebraska 17

Nebraska fans need to give first-year head coach Bo Pelini some time to turn around the program, and don't use Nick Saban's resurrection of the Crimson Tide program as a comparison. Saban walked into a situation at Alabama where there was talent in place, Pelini will need to recruit better athletes to Nebraska's downtrodden program.

Keys to the Game: North Carolina

Keeping the momentum should be the main focus as the Irish head to Chapel Hill and face their first ranked opponent this season in #22 North Carolina. With this only being their second home game, Notre Dame looks to put together a better performance.

Not a great week of predictions

The first three weeks of the season have gone ok for me when it comes to picking games. First week 4 and 2, same with the second, while the third one I lowered my bar a bit and went 3 and 3. So, after 18 games I have a 11 and 7 record (.611 winning percentage).

ACC Games Predictions (Week 6)

Another week and another chance at picking the ACC games, except for the UNC game that is. Plenty of good match ups, even though there is two pretty big spreads, which always scare me.

Brandon Phillips' Week 6 College Football Picks

The one thing I know about gambling is that over the years Las Vegas has only lost one bet, home-dogs against the spread, with a win rate of 54%, you need about 52% to break even. Therefore, I always begin the week by looking at home-dogs and working from there.

While at North Carolina head coach Butch Davis is riding pretty high, looking around at one of my favorite web sits, Coaches Hot Seat, you can see that two other coaches in the ACC can not say the same.

Another decent week in picking ACC Games

The first two week of my predicting the Atlantic Coast Conference went pretty well, both weeks ending with a 4 and 2 record. So, with a 8 and 4 record, here comes the third week, where I am pretty sure I didn't do that well.

ACC Games Predictions (Week 5)

It is another week full of great game for the Atlantic Coast Conference, and it is time for my "fearless" predictions. In the first two weeks of doing this I have gone 8 and 4, and with plenty of good games going on today let's see if I can keep that record going.

NC State upsets No. 15 East Carolina 30-24 in OT

No. 15 East Carolina escaped disaster last week, edging out unranked Tulane 28-24 when QB Patrick Pinkney threw a 24-yard touchdown pass with under two minutes remaining in the game. But the Cinderella Pirates couldn't pull off a similar feat this week as the NC State Wolfpack stunned ECU 30-24 in overtime on Saturday.

Dekota MarshallPinkney wasn't as sharp Saturday as he was in leading the Pirates to a 3-0 record to start the season. He threw for 210 yards and a touchdown, but was intercepted once and also fumbled on ECU's only possession in overtime when Wolfpack defensive end Shea McKeen came from the backside and sacked an unsuspecting Pinkney. The fumble eventually led to Andre Brown's game-winning 10-yard touchdown.

It was a gritty win by NC State, who was led by freshman quarterback Russell Wilson, who was 21 of 31 passing for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson's five-yard touchdown pass to George Bryan with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth forced overtime.

The Pirates' dramatic early-season wins over Virginia Tech and West Virginia must seem like a decade ago after suffering this loss. ECU's schedule doesn't give them a chance for redemption either, so their thin BCS title aspirations are now dashed. Still, the Pirates provided college football fans with plenty of excitement and if he continues to play as well as he has, Pinkney might have a future in the NFL (possibly as a receiver if teams won't look at him as a quarterback).

ACC Games Predictions (Week 4)

Another Saturday during the collage season, which means another time to see how well I do with the Atlantic Coast Conference games. Last weekend I went 4 and 2, which isn't bad at all for me, but to do it twice is a row that could be close to a miracle for me.

34 College Football Observations from Week 3

Every Saturday, after a hard week's work, I just want to be able to sit on the couch and flip back and forth through college football games for the entirety of the day. Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to be able to do so.

I watched several games that were televised throughout the day on Saturday (as well as Friday night's game), and unlike last week there were some big matchups and some true battles. Here are 34 observations about certain players and teams from 13 games I was able to see:
