Sporting News staff reports

North Carolina junior running back Shaun Draughn, the team's leading rusher, will miss the rest of the season after fracturing his left shoulder blade Saturday against Duke, according to a report by The News & Observer of Raleigh, N.C.

HEELS OUTLAST HOKIES

Butch Davis’ North Carolina Tar Heels came to Blacksburg not only win less in ACC play, but also a 15.5 point underdog to the #14 Hokies. The Heels (5-4, 1-3 ACC) left a hushed Lane Stadium with an improbable last second 20-17 victory after Casey Barth (who appears here to be every bit of 15-years-old) made a chip shot field goal (21 yards) on the final play of the game. The game winning drive was set up by a fumble by Virginia Tech’s super frosh Ryan Williams.Williams who entered the night w...

On the desperation decibel scale, North Carolina's anxiety has been much quieter than Florida State's, which is about two more losses from forcing them to replace noble Chief Osceola and his flaming spear with a witch doctor character who attempts to hex the opposing sideline; FSU, obviously, needs a win bad. Neither player practiced this week for the No. 19 Tar Heels (1-0).

Gnarliest Special Teams Hit Ever!! Video from UNC Game. OUCH

The ACC is a strange world right now - after all, UNC and Duke stand atop the conference - and by the way, we're not in March!

The below video is from UNC's victory against Miami and proof enough that playing special teams is exactly what you want to avoid.

The blocker takes a ridiculous hit and his helmet goes flying 20 feet in the air. Awesome stuff.

Click through for the video. WOW.

Skydiver Mix Up Brings Duke / UNC Rivarly to New Heights (VIDEO)

And the Duke / University of North Carolina (UNC) rivalry just got a little more bizarre. As both North Carolina colleges kicked off their NCAA Football campaigns yesterday, a skydiver was supposed to land in the UNC stadium for some pregame festivities. After some miscommunication / misunderstanding, he arrived in Durham and Duke's pregame. Ummmm?.. this is weird!

Condom Killer Loose In Chapel Hill

Ramming speed! One usually thinks of a child killing his or her parent to escape an abusive situation or over a dispute about money. It usually doesn't occur because the son wants to be the UNC mascot.

Former mascot Rameses XVII was given a Kool Moe Dee Death Blow by his son, Pablo during a battle over the right to lead the Tar Heels football team out on the field this fall.
