Spartans Dominate Broncos, 49-14

Little-used Ashton Leggett ran for 110 yards and four touchdowns and Kirk Cousins threw for a career-high 353 yards and two scores to lead Michigan State past Western Michigan 49-14 on Saturday in a rare November non-conference matchup for the Spartans. The win kept Michigan State's bowl hopes alive and introduced yet another potential lead running back in Leggett, a sophomore who had one carry and zero yards coming into the game.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Saturday night's high-tension, higher-drama Iowa-Michigan State game ended with both teams' cheerleaders in tears. The see-saw last few minutes concluded with Iowa QB Ricky Stanzi's 7-yard touchdown pass to Marvin McNutt on the final play from scrimmage. After the No. 7 Hawkeyes' 15-13 victory, several of the winners broke down that final snap:

Last-Second Score Keeps Iowa Perfect

by Mark HastyFiled under: Iowa, Michigan StateIowa and Michigan State decided to save all the excitement for the last three minutes of their game Saturday.

The Hawkeyes beat the Spartans 15-13 on a seven-yard, last-second touchdown pass from Ricky Stanzi to Marvin McNutt.

Michigan State went up 13-9 on a Kirk Cousins-to-Blair White pass that went right down the middle for 30 yards. The pass came just two plays after an unbelievable hook-and-ladder involving White and tight end Brian Linthic...

Mike Hart Legacy Makes Michigan Little Sister

Mike Hart ran the ball pretty well at Michigan, but it pales in comparison to how much he ran his mouth.
Despite not beating Ohio State in 4 chances, losing to Appalachian State, and having multiple moments of sheer abrasiveness with the media Hart's legacy at Michigan will be defined by his post game comments made after beating Michigan State in 2007.
Despite the fact that Michigan State was up by 10 points in the 4th quarter, Hart compared the Spartans to being Michigan's little brother that they allowed to take the lead to get excited only to toy with their emotions by beating them later. What a piece of work.
His comments infuriated MSU's head coach and helped fuel Michigan State to a revenge win last week at the hands of the Wolverines.
Even though Hart has since moved on though, his legacy unfortunately still lingers like a bad fart as Michigan State fans are running digital billboards calling Michigan, the Spartan's Little Sister.
Karma has also taken its toll on Mike Hart who now finds himself out for the year.....

We finally know what the "L" stands for

"Lame Duck."

Just as I said yesterday, nothing, and I repeat, NOTHING, ever changes in East Lansing. Slap happy John L. Smith will have plenty of time to walk the earth and climb mountains, as the MSU administration will give John L the long overdue ziggy later today. He'll finish the season, and will coach Sparty in whatever fleabag bowl will have them.

Somehow, I find it hard to believe that the canning of John L will make any difference in the direction of the Spartan football program. I don't have much faith in a school that allows an evil mixture of boosters, politicians, trustees, administrators, Ron Mason, Tom Izzo, and George Perles (Not necessarily in that order) to pick a new coach.

With the decades long clusterfuck never ending in East Lansing, Sparty will never get anything better than mid-major level coaching talent. Expect either another gimmicky John L clone looking for his one big payday, or an up and comer using the Spartans as a stepping stone. If the MSU powers that be do manage to stumble upon a talented coach, say a Nick Saban, for example, he'll blow town at the first opportunity. I'm sure that they would prefer to coach at a school that doesn't have 25 cooks sticking their fingers the football broth.

Unlike a certain school in East Lansing.
