In typical classless Sparty fashion, they can't just congratulate a good player for winning an award. They have to be outraged that their player didn't get it. This morning The Only Colors, SBNation's Michigan State...

Michigan State was doing something right early. The Penn State play calls weren't designed to pick up the blitz, and so when it came Clark was usually helpless to ward off an untouched attacker. It didn't help that Clark was often under center or not in a designed roll out. The coac...

Daryll Clark won't be missed by Michigan State fans, as the senior quarterback and Penn State overcame a slow start Saturday night in East Lansing to pound the Spartans 42-14. In two career games against Michigan State, Clark has thrown for 650 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions. The Nittany Lions earned their 10th win of the season, and made a big statement for BCS bowl scouts looking at Penn State for a possible at-large bid. But despite the final score, for nearly two full qu...

So sayeth The Daily Collegian:

Brandon Beachum will miss the remainder of the 2009 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee on Saturday, according to a release issued by the Penn State football program.

PSU Seniors Leave On Happy Note

Our Penn State correspondent Ali weighs in on Saturday's victory

 The
first quarter was ugly. It seemed like a bad dream every time special
teams stepped onto the field and Penn State gave up turnover after turnover.
It looked like it was going to be the 3rd loss at home this
year, but luckily the defense got the Nittany Lions back into the game
and the seniors could walk off the field for their final time with their
heads held high....

Penn State rides underclassmen to senior day win

For the third week in a row, Penn State's offense came out flat. So, tied at 10 entering the second half, the Nittany Lions' defense, which had played valiantly despite working against a minus-four turnover margin, took matters into its own hands. Junior linebacker Navorro Bowman intercepted a tipped pass and ran 73 yards to pay dirt, giving Penn state its first lead of the ballgame. The Nittany Lions offense followed up Bowman's pick-six with two consecutive scoring drives of its...

Some Senior Day speculation -- is it also the last home game for Evan Royster and Navorro Bowman?

Bowman and Royster might not be in Maybin's class, but both of them are clearly NFL-caliber players. Both would go very high in next April's draft.Todd McShay, a well-regarded talent evaluator who works for ESPN and Scouts, Inc., ranks Bowman as the 13th-best player in college football. He has Royster ranked 50th.Bowman and Royster should at least think about leaving early.

We're two days away from the Michigan Penn State Game, and dammit, we're excited here at Maize n Brew. In the interest of gaining as much inside information as possible, we tracked down Mike from Black Shoe Diaries at his bunker in northern Siberia and forced him to answer some questions. Well. Not really. Mike tracked me down and roused me from my two week slumber and forced me to talk about Michigan. He also had me sign all sorts of papers, including something in h...

Minnesota apologizes for mascot mocking prayer

The University of Minnesota is apologizing after its Goldy Gopher mascot poked fun at a Penn State football player who was praying before last week's game. A video made before Saturday's game at State College shows Penn State defensive end Jerome Hayes kneeling in prayer in the end zone. Goldy Gopher kneels in front of Hayes, according to the video posted on YouTube. When Hayes stands up, so does Goldy. The mascot tries to make some contact, but Hayes ignores him and trots back to the...

Penn State Fights the Cold, Beats Minnesota

Thanks to Ali for her PSU wrap. Apologies for my tardy delivery of it.Playing
on the coldest Homecoming since JoePa’s been coaching, Penn State
delivered its first shut out of the season yesterday, defeating Minnesota
20-0 to improve to a 6-1 record. It was the earliest snowfall on record
in State College, and I was woken up entirely too early on Friday morning
from the PSU text system telling me the grass lots would be closed for
game day. Empty tail...

White Out of a different nature at Penn State

Michigan State at Penn State 2008, originally uploaded by Flickr member sxtKevin here once again from Examiner and Nittany White Out to provide you with your Penn State game thread for today.Normally when you hear about a White Out and Penn State you think of a stadium with over 100,000 fans all dressed in white. Not quite the case this weekend as Penn State gets back to Big Ten competition with a home game against Minnesota. On Thursday State College was covered with over four inches of sn...

PATERNO: Pitt in Big Ten?

This one ought to inspire some commentary from the Panther-bashing Nittany Lion fans out there who think that Pitt is a minor-league program. None other than JoePa himself just endorsed Pitt as a possible addition to the Big TenLeven: "Everybody else is playing playoffs on television. You never see a Big Ten team mentioned. So I think it’s a handicap.’’ Paterno’s solution? "Let’s get a 12th team -- Syracuse, Rutgers, Pitt -- we could have a little bit of a playoff.’’ So if Pitt&...
