Texas vs. Baylor injury report

The official injury report for Baylor is out and is the worst one of the year. As expected, defensive end Brian Orakpo due to his left knee injury suffered against Texas Tech. Also listed as out for the game are corner Chykie Brown and punter Trevor Gerland. Senior wide receiver Quan Cosby is probable despite his back problems, though I wouldn't be surprised to see him get only limited time unless he's needed.

Texas vs. Baylor Preview

For the first time in over a month Texas faces an opponent that hasn't been ranked in the top 10 at some point in the season. The players and the staff faced the challenge of staying "up" for such a difficult streak of games, but getting "up" for a game against an inferior opponent like Baylor after a heartbreaking loss may prove to be more of a challenge. Texas appears to have an advantage at every position, even with Brian Orakpo and Quan Cosby not likely to play.

Baylor's Art Briles: Wordsmith

Baylor ranked 105th or worse in nine different national categories last season. But there may be real reason to pay attention to the Bears this season: new coach Art Briles.

Here's what the wordsmith had to say following Saturday's practice when asked how he wants his football team to be viewed:

"If it's hot, we want it hotter. If I am tired, I want to be more tired. If
I am hurt a little bit, let me have something else hurt ..."

If Briles wants more of whateve...

Bears With No Claws

There are those schools that are constant homecoming opponents in the conference. They are always the punching bags that have very little chance of a winning season much less a league championship. Duke comes to mind in the ACC, Vanderbilt in the SEC and Northwestern in the Big 10.

Then you have the Baylor Bears. Baylor has been the league patsy since joining the Big 12 conference in 1996. The Bears have won 11 Big 12 games. It's been a struggle for B.U. but there appears to be hope in Waco.
