The best Louisville game of the decade quarterfinals: 4 vs. 5

There was still one Sweet 16 matchup to be played, but since it was the 2/15 tilt, I decided to simulate it.
The double overtime victory over West Virginia in the '07 Big East Tournament quarterfinals was actually putting up a decent fight before Trent Guy housed a punt return and the '06 West Virginia blackout game turned it into a route. The victory was capped off by Malik Jackson returning a fumble for a TD and then decapitating Mike Gansey.
So we move on to the round of eigh...

Our Short, Regional Nightmare is Over: Kragthorpe Out as Coach

What started as very early morning message board rumors, picked up steam at approximately 10:33 AM when Pat Forde joined the crew on Gameday for an announcement, and became basically official with multiple reports (ESPN.com, LSR, ITV), is the biggest news of the season, a sentence many of us have been waiting to write, read, say aloud, text or even Tweet: Steve Kragthorpe is no longer the coach of the University of Louisville football team. A noon news conference will make it official.
So no...

The match-ups only get tougher from here on out, Best Louisville Games. You better bring it.
3. LOUISVILLE NOTCHES FIRST BCS BOWL VICTORY OVER WAKE FOREST IN PETRINO'S LAST GAME
I don't think it is hyperbole to say that this was the biggest victory in UofL football history (with all due respect to the WVU/Black Out game) that was also the least exciting. Whether it was Fox's terrible coverage, the lack of crowd energy translating to TV, the limited possessions (r...

Louisville 10, Syracuse 9

Ten quick thoughts from the masterpiece that was Saturday's victory:
1. That may have been the least exciting BCS conference football game ever played, but it still did feel really good to win. The players deserved it and it was also nice to thrust a knife into the collective heart of a Syracuse fan base that had been rejuvenated a bit by a new head coach. That was for the last two years.
2. Kragthorpe is still so gone.
3. Josh Chichester is really tall and can catch the football. ...

The Louisville football program is still a disaster

I tried yesterday to concoct a post that fully expressed my anger and frustration with all things Louisville football, but the sad truth is I've grown too numb to make that kind of concerted effort. I'm tired of talking about Louisville football, I'm tired of thinking about Louisville football and I'm really tired of watching Louisville football.
This season has been everything most of us feared it would be, so instead of going into detail about the state of a program whi...

Dummy's Guide to Tackling: Grab 'em Dreadlocks!

Some football players love displaying dreadlocks or long curls out from underneath their helmet. Some players claim it makes them tougher, some claim it teaches patience, while others do it to pay homage to their heritage. I claim it makes them easier to tackle, so grab 'em dreadlocks!

Here's the Pre Pro Sports list of the 2007 All-Pre Pro Big East Sleepers Football Team (Preseason). They might not have started last year, they may not have won the starting job this spring, but they have the skills to change games if given the chance.
