Rice Got to a Bowl?

Hmmm?think the NFL network is proud to be broadcasting this game tonight? They might be, we don't know, but what we do know is we have a matchup between Western Michigan and Rice, two teams not well known in the college football ranks, but who did what they had to to get to a bowl. All joking aside, InGameNow has the insite on this game, so follow the link to read more.

Rice Owls at Texas Longhorns Predictions

The Rice spread offense is a pretty impressive and efficient machine. Rice QB Chase Clement has thrown for eight touchdowns and is averaging 292 yards passing per game. Clement and receiver Jarett Dillard have connected for five scores through three games and are on their way to being the most prolific duo in history.
Unless you somehow missed the first two Texas games you know that the young Texas secondary still has a lot of growing up to do. Can they handle that prolific Rice passing game...

Preview: Rice Owls versus #7 Texas Longhorns

Texas goes into this week's game against the Rice Owls coming off an unexpected bye week thanks to a hurricane. The emphasis for the game will not necessarily be on winning, but will be on setting a tone for the rest of the season.
When Texas has the ball how do Colt McCoy and the receivers match up against the Rice secondary? Can Vondrell McGee run the ball against their linebackers? Will the young Texas safeties be able to stop Jarrett Dillard?

Week 6 Bugeatersteve's NCAA Division 1 Bottom 5 Rankings

I have been writing this article since the start of the 2007 College Football season. This is my sixth edition of it. You can research the other five at my normal "Hangout" Deathrattlesports.com
Well I had one team drop and one join the list here on the sixth week of my Bottom 5 Rankings. Breaking into the bottom 5 is Marshall with a "tasteful" defeat at the hands of Cincinnati. So without any further delay, here is my new Bottom 5 Ranking.

1. Notre Dame "cowering Irish" - Well now the question will be, do I give Notre Dame a "victory" if the game against Michigan is reversed due to their using an ineligible player? I think NOT! So they go across the state to Purdue and show us just what we thought they had. Oh and a quick look at their schedule reveals something very nice for all you "Haters". They play at UCLA, then host Boston College and USC, "woo hoo". Next loss, at UCLA.

2. Florida International "yellow cats" - Ran their National leading streak to 16 games in a 47 - 6 "squeaker" to Middle Tennessee State who came in at 0-5. The Cats are closing the gap on the "domers" with games like this one. They host the "men of troy", no not USC, but Troy State this Saturday for their next loss.

3. Rice "stuffed-owls" - Well I am close to making my own "bottom 5". Reason why, well I had this game, Rice against Southern Mississippi, listed as being played last weekend instead of as this upcoming weekend. Rice should be fresh and ready for action after having the week off following the loss to the Longhorns 58-14. Conference play is next up as they "fly" to Southern Mississippi, who just lost to Boise State 38-16.

4. Temple "owlets" - Increased their record to 0-5 Saturday with a close, tight contest against Army 37-21. Next up is a 1-4 Northern Illinois team that is coming off of loss to Southern Illinois this past Saturday.

5. Marshall "Bumbling Herd" - The latest entry into the bottom 5 replacing the Loserville Cardinals. Marshall was impressive in their loss to Cincinnati loosing by a score of 40-14. Next loss, Memphis.

Dropped out Louisville. On the outside looking in: Northwestern, Iowa State, and Texas.

We're Going Bowling: The New Orleans Bowl

This may be the bowl game that the fewest people care about. Troy and Rice are the two teams lucky enough to be able to make the trip down to New Orleans to compete in the R&L Carriers New Orleans bowl. I don't know what R&L Carriers does, but it's probably more exciting than this game will be.
