How will YOUR team do in 2008? Ask MADDEN! (09)

CHECK OUT HOW YOUR TEAM DOES IN THE REGULAR SEASON AND THE PLAYOFFS THIS COMING YEAR. THE PEOPLE AT IGN SIMULATED THIS SEASON, SEE HOW YOUR TEAM DID. CHECK OUT THE LINK.

NFC North

It would be the Chicago Bears who saw their team laid to waste by the injury to their star wide receiver. A Bears team that was unable to move the ball ended up a woeful, NFL-worst 1-15 on the year. It would not be the only surprise of the year. The Vikings claimed the NFC North by virtue of a 10-6 record, with the Packers retreating to 8-8 following Brett Favre's retirement. The Lions actually won seven games, meaning that whenever Jon Kitna predicts that the team will win ten games, they'll actually win seven.

NFC South

It came down to a tiebreaker, but the Buccaneers used a Pro Bowl season from Jeff Garcia to claim their second straight NFC South crown with a 10-6 record. Joey Galloway was named to the All-Pro team by virtue of a league-leading 107 receptions for 1438 yards and 10 touchdowns. They narrowly beat out the Saints, who claimed one of the two Wild Card spots. The Panthers continued to be mired in mediocrity at 8-8, while the Falcons didn't start Matt Ryan for most of the year, but still went 7-9. Michael Turner finished second in the league in rushing with 1,408 yards.

NFC West

In a division that no one wanted to win, the Rams returned to the playoffs with merely an 8-8 record. The Seahawks, 49ers, and Cardinals all finished at 6-10, with the Cards struggling following injuries to both Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, while the Seahawks lost four games by three points or less.

Top 15 Projected Receiving TD leaders

Last year, fans and fantasy owners witnessed a veritable aerial assault across the NFL.

Ten wide receivers corralled 10 or more touchdown receptions, led by Randy Moss' record-breaking total of 23. By way of contrast, only six running backs amassed 10 or more touchdowns on the ground. The proliferation of specialist roles akin to those of middle relievers and closers in baseball, as well as the growth of committee situations, has split up the carries and goal-line glory. That's not the case in the air. Your fantasy heroes continue to add to their trophy cases and your highlight-watching pleasure.

I begin this review of touchdown heroes with the aforementioned Moss, who rewarded gutsy fantasy owners with a season for the ages in 2007.

Broncos First Day Of Camp

This post is dedicated to the dude wearing the Colts t-shirt at Broncos camp today.
A few sideline observations from today's first practice:
- Players that impressed me the most -
1. WR Glenn Martinez - impressed the crowd with some tough catches from Cutler.
2. Eddie Royal - believe me when I tell you that this guy is fast. He had a couple of solid catches against Hamza Abdullah when the offense and defense went up against each other. He's still got a lot to learn about protecting the ball though.
3. ALL of the backs - I'm convinced Michael Pittman is a vet in a rookie's body. Selvin Young had some swift cuts and explosive speed fifteen yards past the line of scrimmage. Andre Hall left John Lynch standing in the dust. Ryan Torain proved that he can compete with the vets for playing time. It's a true battle at this spot.
4. Ryan Clady - the sheer size of him on the offensive line is a sight to behold. No question why he went as the Broncos #1 pick (12th overall). Our backs should have a great year because of "Sweet Feet." Living up to his nickname, Clady even did a little gig before team stretches.
- Other observations -
1. Brandon Marshall - made some spectacular catches, but also dropped some easy stuff from Cutler. Maybe Marshall was a little winded.
2. Niko Koutouvides - looked like he was ready to start at middle linebacker.
3. Marcus Thomas - after a false start during drills, DT Thomas got an ear-full from defensive line coach, Bill Johnson. The team must be focusing on decreasing the number stupid penalties this year.
4. Mike Shanahan - still looks lean and mean, but that didn't stop him from inviting a 3 year-old out onto the field to catch a few balls.

WR Kasper Looking to Turn a Longshot into a Chance with the Browns

Not many people remember when the Browns picked up wide out Kevin Kasper, who came to the team from the Lions, where he was waived on September 1st, 2007. Kasper has seen it all since being drafted by the Broncos in the 6th round back in 2001, playing for a whopping 10 teams (including the [...]

Fantasy Football Wide Receivers - Second Tier

Second Tier WRs
We've profiled the Big Dog WRs, now it's time to examine the next wave of wideouts. These will most likely be your 2nd or 3rd WRs depending on your league size and your draft stratgey. They are solid wideouts, but not quite the caliber of the Big Dogs.

Brandon Marshall - The only thing that kept Brandon Marshall from runnin' with the Big Dogs is his maturity, or lack thereof. Numbers are numbers though and he went for over 1300 yards and 7 TDs last year. If he can avoid fast food bags, he should have another solid year. He's the one 2nd Tier WR that's most likely to be a Big Dog.

Wes Welker - When the Patriots offense is clicking, there really is no answer for Welker. I still think if he caught 20+ passes in the Super Bowl the outcome would have been different. The Giants had no answer for him. 112 catches last year. That's amazing. I think he can catch more if that's what the Defenses present to TB.

Anquan Boldin - Boldin took a step back in yardage last year, but his TD production went up. He caught a career high 9 TDs depsite missing 4 games. If he gets steady QB play again this year he'll produce with the best of them.

Greg Jennings - Jennings was awesome last year. He had 12 TDs and nearly 1000 yards. Of course, Brett Favre was throwing to him. I couldn't quite justify making him a Big Dog without his favorite gunslinger. He scored in 10 of the 13 games he played in last year.

Roy Williams - Roy took a major step back from the 1300 yard 2006 season he produced. That doesn't mean he can't return there though. He needs to prove he can stay healthy and he'll be a heck of a value come draft day.

The Broncos open their 2008 training camp this morning at Dove Valley. They signed second-round draft pick Eddie Royal yesterday. They also expect to have a deal with first-rounder Ryan Clady before the first practice at 11:15 a.m. Coach Mike Shanahan has a lot of new faces to work in, but he's most concerned about [...]

Two QB Set Offense on the Field...No Seriously...

ALL Right I know this doesn't happen on a consistent basis matter of fact it actually does in one high school in Cali, yeah Hi Skool, lame but its a start. Every new idea has a start and this one I believe is brilliant and should be implemented into college and in the NFL. Though I always fooled around with stuff like this in video games, now some high school out in California is playing with a Two QB set Offense. Krazy yes, but clever. What makes it even more chaotic is the fact that everyone is an eligible reciever including the underappreciated offensive line.

The defense now has to worry about two Quarterbacks. Its like dealing with TwoFace's coin deciding ones fate, coin is always heads and win win for TwoFace and lose lose for that persons fate just like for the offense its win win and lose lose for Dfenses. Win Win as in the Offense has plethora of ways to confuse the defense with myriad ways of distributing the ball, while the defense i beleive will be on their heels majority of the time wondering what the hell is going on. As hard as it is too sack a QB in the NFL, dealing with two is even worse. Football has become more of a chess game which is cool to see, icing a kicker is not a chess game, more like AD agencies paying coaches so the game can go into tv timeout and show commericals of these ad agencies.

This is one smart coach, use the rules to his advantage and just screw the way the games supposed to play. As the JOker says, :Introduce a little anarchy, you upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos. And you know the thing about chaos, Harvey? It's fair:

Sorry for the Batman references.....Actually I'm not....It is fair, humans just outsmarting one another is all fair game in my opinion just no Cheating Bill Belichick. Its all good you got what you deserved when my Giants beat you in the Superbowl....

....Sorry Roy Williams this Offense recommends you to sit on the bench when in display. Also Sam Madison take a seat, Ive seen enough of you getting burned on the tube. And Ray Lewis I would love to see how you react to two Qb;s. Im pretty sure you would powerbomb the starter in each game so this type of offense doesnt happen ever but that still has to be seen. See Micheal Strahan knew what was going on, he left at the right time hahha... Now if the NFL has some decent backup QB's to make this happen. I'm too lazy to scan all the backups and where its possible...Be my guest YardBarkians and spread the knowledge....
