Oregon Routs USC...let the gnashing of teeth begin

First off, we need to say congrats to the Ducks they played a great game and really played well.
Now that that out of the way…
I think it safe to say that 2009 is officially a retooling year...not a rebuilding year because we have the talent. The question now becomes what do we do with all of this talent. They are clearly not playing up to expectations...The past few weeks have seen one of the better defenses in the country get exposed.
I am never a fan of losing but I think this pu...

USC Trojans-Oregon Ducks: Trojans Limp Into Autzen Stadium

he Trojans will definitely try to put their best foot forward on Saturday, but it may be somewhat gimpy. What amounts to the biggest Pac-10 game of the year comes at a time when the Trojans are bruised and banged up. First off, their leading receiver as far as yards per catch, tight end Anthony McCoy, [...]

UO Coach Chip Kelly Reimburses Angry Ducks Fan

It’s perfectly natural for a football fan to be pissed off after their team loses a game. People say things, throw things, and drink things they don’t really mean to - it’s part of being a college football fan. When your team does so in embarrassing and epic fashion, as the Oregon Ducks did in [...]

I didn't know what to expect when I got to Eugene. All I knew about the U of O was Nike, Prefontaine "Track Town USA", and Duck football. I learned quickly what the 541 was all about. I loved my time in Eugene. My favorite breakfast spot GJ's, our favorite bar Taylors , the U.I. dorm , the CASS and most importanly, Autzen stadium, the crowd, and the student section. AMAZING!!! I'll never forget Apartment #90 which consisted of #1 aka SP aka Samie Parker, #2 aka O-S*#@*y aka Onterrio Smith and myself aka Rice-Daddy. Man, if those walls could talk, lol, but I'm glad they can't. Oregon was totally different than any other place I had ever been into my whole life, but yet it was home. Some of my fondest memories are from my time in Eugene. College was truly some of the best years of my life to date. A lot of things in my life may change, but one thing that will remain the same is I will always and forever be an Oregon Duck!
I'll never forget every home game the PA announcer would say "It never rains in Autzen Stadium". Which to me, being from Sunny So Cal, was very ironic, because I felt like it was always raining in the northwest. I still get chills thinking about scoring a touchdown and that loud fog horn going off and the band playing the fight song "Oregon our Alma Mater, we will guard thee on and on...."! I loved playing for Oregon, and now that I am in the pros, I love being a fan of Oregon. I always had my duck gear in my locker at the stadium. At least once a week in the offseason I workout in a Duck t-shirt, shorts, and my Nike Shox Duck editions (Oh Baby)! I even made a bet with my teammate Mo Williams 2 years ago that MY Ducks would crush his minuscule Wolverines, and of course they did. Mo had to wear my College jersey all week, haha GO DUCKS!! I hang on to every play of Duck football. All my teammates in Jacksonville knew when we went to away games I was only going to eat dinner at a place that had my Duck's game on! God Bless satellite tv!!

Two years ago we had the National Championship and the Heisman Trophy in our grasp and it all went down the drain when Dennis Dixon fell to the ground clutching his knee. We were on cloud nine, riding high on the backs of Dennis Dixon and Jonathan Stewart, and just that quick we had to settle for a SCHLacking of South Florida in the Sun Bowl 56-21. I was devastated. It felt like I was on that team and "we lost". I now know what "REAL" fans go through and how they feel. I have a much deeper respect for the fans of our game.

On Thursday we begin our quest for another PAC-10 title and a chance at a National Championship. Although I can't be there in person I will have my flatscreen on and my popcorn ready. It won't be an easy game, (we are playing against former Oregon coaches). We are taking on the Broncos of Bosie State, on their "Smurf Turf". The Broncos have a good team and are always tough at home, but I know the Ducks will take care of business. This year will be a good year for us up in Eugene and I will be here with my duck gear on cheering the whole way. I just can't wait until my son is old enough to really appreciate the game, so I can take him to a game at Autzen stadium, "the loudest place on earth" (for the enemy).

I was so juiced when I saw the Ducks on the cover of Sports Illustrated. I was thinking, finally, we are getting some respect. I know some of ya'll out there are skeptical of calling us a Football Powerhouse, but keep watching and trust me, you'll see. It's ok, I won't say I told you so. Actually, YES I WILL!!! GO DUCKS!!!

#13 vs. #17 - Holiday Bowl

Now we have a good game! Pac-10 vs. Big 12, two ranked teams battling it out for some good offseason momentum! On top of that, two top ten offenses should have the defensive coordinators erasing the tape as early as possible. It's the Holiday Bowl, easily the 2nd best pre-New Years bowl we should be watching tonight!

Come and discuss the game with fans at InGamenow.

It's Duck Hunting Season

Not knowing whether the brochure you hand out to a player is too specific and thus considered to be personally tailored towards an athlete is one thing. But all of us agents know when we are clearly breaking the NCAA rule, which strictly prohibits the disbursement of any type of monetary benefit to a student-athlete. Yet, somehow, violations continue. As a profession, let's cut this crap already.

The most recent case is out of the University of Oregon, where offensive tackle Fenuki Tupou was suspended for the first game of this season for receiving money and a free meal from Tim Norling of LMM Sports Management. Lock, Metz and Malinovic cannot be too happy to see their company's name making headlines for this nonsense.

Norling denies that he paid for the meal or gave Tupou any additional money. My only question then is why would Tupou make such a big deal over $30 ($10 for the meal, $20 in cash handed over afterwards)? I would not think that he has any personal vendetta against Norling, and even if he did, would he not care about missing the first game of his important senior season based on a lie? Tupuo self-reported the violation, which probably would have never been dug up by Oregon, the NCAA, or the NFLPA.

University of Oregon - chokers?

This past Thursday night another Pac Ten team failed to show it had the mental makeup of a champion, and passed up a tremendous opportunity to rise up from middling bowl team to be a national player. That school was the University of Oregon, which had three games left on its schedule, none of which vs. a team with a better than .500 record. They sat in an enviable position as the #2 overall BCS team in the country, all they had to do was win out to represent the Pac Ten in the BCS title game ...

Our Dixon your Booty

The Oregon Ducks and Dennis Dixon knock the King from his throne 24-17.

The USC Trojans seem to have lost a step since Norm Chow left the program.

Is Pete Carroll the great coach everyone says he is? or did Norm Chow mean more to the Trojans than many think?

In Eugene it's Dixon for Heisman.

Sonny's Stylewatch: The Awful Oregon Ducks Helmets

I know Nike has lots of influence on Ducks gear because the headquarters are very close to the campus in Eugene. However that doesn't mean you can use the Ducks as guinea pigs to test out gear and jerseys. The Ducks have an image to protect, as well as playing good football. If you look good and feel good, you play good. Oregon has neither going for them right now.
