Ron Jaworski says Chip Kelly’s offense won’t work in the NFL

Former Eagles quarterback and current ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski told 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly that he doesn’t believe Chip Kelly’s offense will succeed in the NFL with the Eagles. “It’s going to be interesting to see if this style of offense projects to the NFL,” Jaws said, per PhillyMag.com. “I’m going to say no.” “I just don’t see NFL passing concepts in this offense. It’s a movement offense by the quarterback, off the run-action, off the read-action. A lot of short, quick passes, dart routes, bubble screens. Very few plays down the field with NFL passing concepts.” Jaws went on to continue to explain his reasoning. “It’s easy to say, ‘Yeah, it worked in college,’ ” he said. “But then I looked at a game like Stanford. Stanford, a good defensive football team, shut them down. I hope it works. I like the innovation, but I think it’s going to be very difficult. “The NFL is a different league with fast players that have all week to prepare for you.
Ron Jaworski has doubts about Chip Kelly’s Oregon offense: ‘It’s easy to say, Yeah, it worked in college’

The New England Patriots took elements from Chip Kelly’s Oregon offense, but they kept their spread and added it in.

ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski has serious doubts that Kelly can run his high speed option in the NFL.

He says that the NFL is too smart to let a coach waltz in and have success, to him it’s more of a gimmick.

It’s all about preparation and Jaworski knows teams have unlimited time to prepare for the up tempo, all the movement, and most all can match the speed of the offense.

Kelly has maintained that he won’t force his college offense, that he will run what is best for the team.

If that means a traditional passing attack, that’s what they will do. However, if Kelly does decide to run the Oregon offense, Jaworski thinks it will fail.

“It’s easy to say, ‘Yeah, it worked in college,’” he said, via Sheil Kapadia of PhillyMag.com.

Guest columnist Jordan Raanan takes us inside the Eagles' OTA's...

Here's the deal--- Jordan Raanan of NJ.com has a press pass, and I don't... so I'm giving some major love here to Raanan, who is allowed to "infiltrate" Chip Kelly's private OTA practices.

Thankfully Raanan is there to give us some inside data...

Raanan's biggest contribution right now is his personal observation of Shady McCoy's physical condition at yesterday's practice.

"LeSean McCoy missed the second half of Monday's Organized Team Activities (OTAs) with what appeared to be some sort of leg injury, maybe a knee injury. He was stretching on the sidelines before heading to the locker room. Whatever the problem, it was minor. McCoy practiced with his Eagles teammates Tuesday at the NovaCare Complex. So did the four players (Patrick Chung, Jason Peters, Fletcher Cox and Cary Williams) and coach (Jeff Stoutland) who missed Monday's workout due to weather-induced travel delays. "

LeSean McCoy left Monday’s practice with a knee injury

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy left Monday’s practice early after injuring his knee.
McCoy stretched on the sideline at one point before leaving the practice field.

McCoy was spotted after practice walking through a NovaCare Complex hallway with a plate of food. He said the issue was with his knee. He did not appear to be limping or in pain.

The Eagles did not have an official report on McCoy’s condition.
The good news is that it seems like McCoy will be just fine. The Eagles can’t afford to lose their best offensive player to an injury.

Eagles RB LeSean McCoy leaves OTA with knee issue

LeSean McCoy left the Philadelphia Eagles OTA practice early today due to what is being reported as a knee discomfort. The Eagles running back stretched on the sidelines at one point after leaving the field to have his knee examined. McCoy did not return to the field before the Eagles wrapped up Monday’s practice.

The Eagles officials declined to provide an official report on McCoy’s knee injury.

It was only the second time this offseason that the media was allowed to watch the Eagles’ players at practice. Given a starting running back requires steady knees to make through the entire season, McCoy having his knee checked out so early in the offseason probably garnered additional attention. Moreover, the Eagles are still trying to learn a new offense under Chip Kelly and still attempting to straighten out their quarterback situation. A healthy McCoy will go a long way in the process to put together those pieces of puzzle this offseason.

The day Chip Kelly taught Michael Vick how to hold a football

The Philadelphia Eagles new head coach Chip Kelly is quickly becoming a legend in Philly even before coaching his first NFL game. We hear how great everything is going and how excited players are to be blessed with the opportunity to play for the chosen one. Even veteran QB Michael Vick is praising his new boss, and learning new things as if he were wet behind the ears. "Chip told me how to run with the football the other day," Vick said, via Phillymag.com. "He taught me how to run with the football and how to carry the football, and I think it's something that you just have to work on." "The other day, I broke out in the pocket, and the first thing Chip told me was to tuck the football," he added. "So I showed him how I was running with it, and he looked at it and he knocked the ball right out of my hands. And he was like, 'Hold it like this.' "And what he told me felt comfortable. I had a tighter grip on the football. That ...

After 11 season’s in the NFL, It took Chip Kelly to teach Michael Vick how to carry the football. Unbelievable.

Who would have believed it? Michael Vick could be taught how to hold the football after all these years playing in the NFL. It took the watchful eye of the new Eagles head coach Chip Kelly to do it. It is no wonder they let Andy Reid go last season. The guy had to be a moron not to see Vick had a problem carrying the football. With Chip Kelly in charge this season. The Eagles are probably super bowl bound. This guy doesn’t miss a trick. first rearranged the Eagles Locker room then he made changes to the Eagles eating habits and now he is getting down to football business. His canning ability to spot a problem that has gone unnoticed for more than a decade in the National Football league is going to take this Eagles team to new heights. Chip Kelly is going to single-handedly fix all that is wrong with the Eagles in now time. What is his next fix going to be? As the days go by, I am sure there will be more Kelly break through s coming out of the eagles camp. I for one can’t wait to h...

Eagles Release Undrafted Free Agent RB Miguel Maysonet

The Philadelphia Eagles have released undrafted free agent running back Miguel Maysonet.
Maysonet, a Stony Brook product, was a rookie minicamp invite last week prior to his release. He did receive a $10,000 signing bonus which was the largest among any of the undrafted rushers, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
Cimini also suggests that the release of Maysonet shows there is a philosophical difference between first year head coach Chip Kelly and the Eagles front office.
Because he was still enrolled in school, his participation was restricted to non-OTA activities, per league rules.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. was very high on Maysonet’s potential:
“A sleeper from Stony Brook, Maysonet has been on my radar since his sophomore season, and I have him ranked higher than more notable names such as Kenjon Barner and Stepfan Taylor. He can really produce after contact and runs with a great lean.”
The Eagles also just signed Felix Jones to provide depth behind LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown. With m...

Eagles wide open cornerback competition set to heat up: ‘We don't set the depth chart, they do’

The Philadelphia Eagles are reshaping their whole roster, and one area that is getting a complete makeover is the cornerback position.

Coach Chip Kelly is looking for who will separate themselves from the pack, take control of the starter’s job.

Gone are Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, two high profile corners who didn’t fare well in the two years they were in Philadelphia, and in is Cary Williams, Bradley Fletcher.

Also in the mix is third year player Curtis Marsh and Brandon Hughes, but anyone has the opportunity to lock down a role as starter.

According to Nick Fierro of the Morning Call, Kelly doesn’t have a set preference on who wins the competition.

"We don't set the depth chart, they do," he said of his players. "We don't run a dictatorship, we don't run a democracy, we run a meritocracy. We’ve heard much about Chip Kelly’s energetic and efficient style of running Philadelphia Eagles practice: the loud music, the nonstop pace. But Kelly has more tricks up his sleeve and is having his offensive players try their hand on defense in practice.
So far, TE Clay Harbor has taken turns at linebacker, “to be more versatile.” Harbor says that practice at the position is only for “emergency situations,” but could Kelly be trying to find other possibilities for Harbor to remain on the roster with three other tight ends on the Eagles’ roster, including Brent Celek and 2nd-round draft pick and Stanford standout Zach Ertz?
If we know anything about Kelly at this stage, it’s that he continues to keep us guessing.
WR Jason Avant took turns in the defensive backfield last week and is pleased to be considered in other aspects of the game. Avant has already demonstrated his versatility with his cont...

Michael Vick says Chip Kelly taught him how to properly hold a football

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick told PhillyMag.com that head coach Chip Kelly showed him how to hold a football.
“Chip told me how to run with the football the other day,” Vick said. “He taught me how to run with the football and how to carry the football, and I think it’s something that you just have to work on.”
Kelly knocked the football right out of Vick’s hands.
“The other day, I broke out in the pocket, and the first thing Chip told me was to tuck the football,” Vick said. “So I showed him how I was running with it, and he looked at it and he knocked the ball right out of my hands. And he was like, ‘Hold it like this.’ And what he told me felt comfortable. I had a tighter grip on the football. That should secure that problem as long as I work on it. Like I said, you’re always a work in progress, and even when you think you know it all, sometimes you don’t. The people who feel like they know everything, they don’t.”
Hopefully Kelly’s lesson will help Vick, wh

Eagles waive small school stand out Miguel Maysonet

According to Adam Caplan of TheSideLineView.com, the Philadelphia Eagles have waived undrafted rookie running back Miguel Mayonset.
The Eagles are expected to waive UDFA RB Miguel Maysonet, per source. Certainly a surprise.
— Adam Caplan (@caplannfl) May 19, 2013

Mayonset is a highly touted back that played for Stony Brook University. His lack of speed may have been the reason the Eagles let him go, but he has a chance to be a very good NFL player.

Vick: Chip Kelly taught me how to hold a football

Michael Vick never was taught how to hold a football until recently. When new Eagles coach Chip Kelly saw the quarterback scramble with the ball he told the 10-year veteran he was doing it all wrong. That should secure that problem as long as I work on it.” In his last 35 games Vick has fumbled the ball 12 times. It is a little hard to believe that no one had taught Vick how to hold a football but as he says “you’re always a work in progress, and even when you think you know it all, sometimes you don’t. The people who feel like they know everything, they don’t.” Vick will compete with Nick Foles and Matt Barkley to be the starting quarterback for the...

Brandon Graham, Trent Cole may have a hard time with Chip Kelly’s 3-4 defense

Trent Cole and has been one of the NFL’s best pass rushers over the course of his career and now he’ll be an outside linebacker in the Eagles new 3-4 defense under new head coach Chip Kelly.
Cole will now have to learn how to drop back into pass coverage and read opposing offenses a lot more. I can’t see this change as a good thing. The same goes for Brandon Graham, who was a first round pick just a few years ago. He’s still looking to solidify himself as an NFL player and this change won’t help as well.
As cover linebackers, Cole and Graham need to “read” more than they ever have. They used to just pin their ears back and rush. They will have to learn to play zone, set the edge, and cover tight ends, running backs, and sometimes even – gulp – wide receivers.

“You might see me in coverage all the way downfield,” Cole said, “but we don’t want that.”
Kelly believes Cole and Graham can get the job done.
“You watch how fast they run, their ability to open their hips, and they

LeSean McCoy sued for alleged assault

LeSean McCoy is being sued by a woman who alleges that she joined the Philadelphia Eagles running back on a party bus before being thrown off the ride and humiliated. TMZ reports that the woman says she and 14 other women were invited to join McCoy on a party bus from Philly to New Jersey last December. She alleges in her lawsuit that McCoy, his bodyguard, and a few other guys began spraying some of the women with water. She says they specifically went after her after she objected. The woman alleges she was hit in the face and fell to the ground where she continued to be sprayed. She claims she was physically restrained and had a drink poured all over her while she was on the ground. The woman says in the suit that she was kicked off the bus but was picked back up after some of the other women complained. The woman says she was eventually ditched again. The woman is suing McCoy for more than “$50,000 in damages for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, ...
