Connor's thoughts on the Washington State Game

The Beavers defeated the Washington State 42-10 on a cold, sunny day in Pullman. Here are my thoughts on the game.QuarterbackSean Canfield had another good game this weekend, going 22 for 29 with one interception, two touchdowns, and 231 yards.
Ryan Katz also saw some playing time for the third time this year, going 4 for 7 with 53 yards. James Rodgers also attempted a pass out of the Wild Flying Beaver Formation. The ball was wobbly and incomplete, but it does give...

Cougar Town

This Saturday marks the official start of Notre Dame's 7-4-1 scheduling model, now made official policy in the NBC contract. Much has been written about this scheduling approach and much more should be written. After all, it has to be a bit embarrassing that tickets (and entire rows) not only are still available for purchase, but they are going for $14 and include a free dinner. But for now, since it's All Hallow's Eve Eve, we'll pass the scheduling horror stories and go for th...

Jeremiah Masoli threw for 116 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score before sitting out the second half in No. 16 Oregon's 52-6 victory over Washington State on Saturday night. Ed Dickson had seven catches for 103 yards and a score for the Ducks (4-1, 2-0 Pacific-10) who won their fourth straight after a season-opening loss at Boise State.
Speed Read: Wait - WSU Cougar RB Almost Died?

It’s not often that injury news takes us completely aback, but that’s absolutely the case over in Pullman tonight. One slightly mentioned aspect of last weekend’s game pitting Washington State against Southern Methodist was WSU’s tailback, James Montgomery, suffering an apparent knee injury. Not that those aren’t serious, but, y’know… they happen.

But one thing that [...]

Washington State back staves off amputation, death after knee injury

Not to be cold-hearted, but as far as football injuries go, James Montgomery's wonky knee seemed like a fairly routine ailment when Washington State's leading rusher left in the fourth quarter of the Cougars' eventual overtime win over SMU. Montgomery thought so, too -- he wasn't even sure when he had sustained it -- except the pain kept getting worse after the game, until he was forced to visit the team doctor, a former WSU player, who politely informed Montgomery that the d...

PULLMAN – The Washington State Cougars don’t have an abundance of talented football players, but WSU players and coaches have voted to get rid of one of their best players.
Wide receiver Kevin Norrell was suspended for the season Tuesday after he was charged with driving under the influence and other infractions early Sunday.

Cougars buying in

PULLMAN — It was a year ago, before a single game had been played under new coach Paul Wulff and a revamped Washington State coaching staff, when Chima Nwachukwu sensed that something was amiss with the Cougars football team.
Players questioned the demands of the coaches. Coaches questioned the commitment of the players. Offensive players struggled to adapt to the newly installed no-huddle scheme. Defensive players often failed to line up properly before the snap of the ball.

WSU Football:Coach Paul Wulff Will Start Two True Freshmen

Late Monday afternoon the depth chart for WSU's season opener with Stanford this coming Saturday held a few surprises. It appears that Coach Wulff will begin the year by making Cougar football history with his projected starters.

A cursory examination of D-I's lesser-known elements. Today, as part of the Doc's Pac-10 Week: The Washington State Cougars.
You may remember them from: Knocking off rival Washington in the Apple Cup in a 16-13 double-overtime barnburner (or so we read, as only the most dedicated of fans or morbid of rubberneckers were still watching in the fourth quarter), doing their part to send the Huskies careening to a historic winless season. Also, from going 2-11, being outscored by 32 points...

Pac-10 Preview: Cougars Are The Definition of Rebuilding

Much like their cross state rivals, the Washington State Cougars are thirsty for success.
It has been years since the Cougars were regarded as one of the better teams in the conference, let alone the country.
The unfortunate part for the Cougars is that the struggle of returning to their winning ways may be a grueling one.
Browsing up and down the depth chart, it is difficult to find anyone that really made an impact on the team last season.
If they did, it was either for the wrong reasons or...

PULLMAN – The Washington State football team opened training camp Sunday with a lengthy list of questions to answer before the season opener, but one of the Cougars’ biggest questions was quietly answered behind the scenes a few weeks ago.
Junior wide receiver Jeshua Anderson, the only WSU receiver with more than 11 career catches, revealed that he did not decide to turn down pro track offers and return to school until mid-July.
