New NBA Flopping Rules Responsible for Coach K Staying at Duke?

The NBA announced today that it will begin fining players in clear cases of flopping. This is clearly a great idea, because flopping is a scourge on the face of basketball. The first thought that jumped into my mind when I heard about the new rules was "No wonder Coach K didn't take the Lakers job!"

Forgetting About Duke University

What can you offer up to counter the thoughts of this reporter, this editorial board, this university who looks at NCCU as a university whose moral fiber isn't thicker than the paper its diplomas are printed on?

What do you say to a culture that thought they were smarter, better, and more privileged than you years prior to the Duke Lacrosse scandal?

Johnny Dawkins Finally Gets His Shot

I'm very happy to see Johnny Dawkins finally get a shot as a big time head coach. I remember seeing him shred up the NCAA as a point guard and his playing career ended way too early. In the meantime, he spent 10 years as a Duke assistant learning from the best coach in the biz (sorry Duke haters). I would contend that Johnny Dawkins put Coach K on the map - it is fitting to see him get a shot at the big time.

NBA Draft: Demarcus Nelson Would Do Well In Denver

A Duke Blue Devil, one of the best perimeter defenders in the country, a slasher, and a threat in the passing lanes. Who is it? Here's a hint, it's not Greg Paulus.

The player is Demarcus Nelson.

Let's nix the ACC/Big Ten Challenge

Kevlar, anyone?

The matchups for the ACC/Big Ten challenge were announced on Tax Day this past week. North Carolina will travel to Motown on December 3, 2008, to play the Michigan State Spartans. Ah, there's nothing quite like Detroit in December. The snow. The decorative lights. The hail of bullets…
