The 61-year-old Karl, who has been an NBA head coach for 25 years, won his first award after leading his team to 57 wins during the regular season for a franchise record. The Nuggets went 57-25 this season with the league’s fourth-best record. Karl’s all-time record now stands at 1,131-756. He’s also 80-105 in the postseason. Karl thanked his players, trainers, assistant coaches and everybody else in the Nuggets organization when he was awarded the Red Auerbach Trophy. He said he hopes everybody realizes that the trophy was earned by the entire team and not just one person. He admitted that it’s a trophy he’s proud of and one he’s always wanted to win and it was a very emotional experience when he found out he had. A teammate intercepted Curry and a security guard said something to the fan.
