Warriors Interested In Acquiring Draft Pick

As of now, the Golden State Warriors do not have any picks in this month's NBA draft, but they are interested in acquiring one.
"We'd love to have a pick," GM Bob Myers said Wednesday. "What we would look at if it would make sense and there's a nice young player. ... It's always good to have young players. They're cheaper. ... The fact that we have a lot of young players makes it that we're not desperate. But if you can find good players on rookie deals, you always want to do that."
The Warriors have never gone without at least a second round pick.
"Our ownership's willing to spend," Myers said.

Warriors preparing for draft as if team has picks

Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers has been busy taking flights across the country and overseas, meeting with players and agents and talking with other NBA executives ahead of next week's draft.

While that's not out of the ordinary for most teams, the Warriors are operating under a different set of circumstances. They have no picks because of prior trades and are already squeezed for salary cap space.

Of course, that could all change with one move by Myers.

Myers and members of his staff attended draft camps in Brooklyn and Minnesota along with workouts organized by players' agents in Los Angeles. He even took a two-day to Italy, doing all the homework he can to try to gauge whether the Warriors want to get in the mix.

Sacramento has brought in Golden State Warriors people in an attempt to replicate their success

Over the last few months, the Kings franchise has been completely turned upside down. A new ownership group has come in and added a head coach and GM, giving the downtrodden franchise a totally new look. It may be new for Sacramento, but you only have to go 80 miles west on I-80 to find the blueprints for this franchise reconstruction.

With the three key names in the new-look Kings organization all coming from Golden State, the Kings are looking more and more like the Warriors 2.0. They need to overhaul the roster and swap the numbers in the win and loss columns in order to truly return the franchise to glory, but Vivek Ranadive is using the Warriors as a model for his organization.

Until recently, Ranadive, a Silicon Valley technology billionaire, was a minority owner of the Warriors. Ranadive had his eye on former Warriors lead assistant, Michael Malone, for years as "his guy" if he ever got his own team and the new Kings owner didn't hesitate to bring Ma...

Mark Jackson Hasn't Begun Extension Talks With Warriors

Mark Jackson and the Golden State Warriors have not begun discussing a contract extension.
Jackson signed a three-year deal with a team option for the fourth with the Warriors during the 2011 offseason meaning he is without a deal past the upcoming 13-14 season.
"No. And my feelings are, that’ll take care of itself. I don’t get caught up in it. It will truly take care of itself.
"I’m thrilled to have a job and to coach this group of guys… and with great ownership, a great front office and fan base. It’ll play itself out."
Jackson was also asked if he can take credit for the Brooklyn Nets' decision to hire Jason Kidd without any previous coaching experience.
"No," said Jackson "I think at the end of the day Jason Kidd is an all-time great player who I’ve got a lot of respect for.
"I’ve talked to him often. He reached out and thanked me and we’ve had great dialogue. I just think he’s going to do very well. I’m happy for him. I think it was a gre...

Brandon Rush opts in for next season

The last image of Brandon Rush in a Warriors jersey could have been of him being carried to the locker room after tearing his ACL in the second game of this season. Rush had a player option for next season. That lingering subplot to the Warriors’ offseason plans obviously was overshadowed by the impending free agency of two other players actually active on the team — Carl Landry and Jarrett Jack.
Hell, a lot of people might not have even remembered Rush was even on the Warriors this year. He blew up his left knee, Harrison Barnes picked up the slack, and the Warriors exceeded everybody’s expectations, sans the player some considered entering the season to be the team’s best guy off the bench. He became the forgotten guy on the team, especially when he wasn’t sitting at the end of the bench in a suit for almost the entire season.
That doesn’t change the fact that Rush could have still tested the free agent market this summer. But the Warriors no longer have to worry about that. Accor...

Festus Ezeli out for start of season after surgery

I’m sure a lot of you comedians are hoping it’s surgery on his hands to make him catch the ball better (if only). But no, Festus Ezeli underwent surgery on Wednesday to reenforce ligaments in his right knee, according to the team.
The center sprained his knee in the regular season finale but still was able to play in the playoffs.
Here’s the part where you say, “YIKES”: The Warriors estimate Ezeli to be out at least six-to-nine months. By that timetable, the earliest he could return to action would be shortly before Christmas. So, yeah, yikes.
Here’s more from the team’s press release:
The procedure, which was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache of the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles, was necessary to reinforce both the medial collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligament in Ezeli’s right knee. Ezeli suffered a sprained right knee during the club’s regular-season finale this season at Portland on April 17. He will begin rehabilitation in the near future and is expected to make...

Warriors center Ezeli has right knee surgery

Golden State Warriors center Festus Ezeli has undergone right knee surgery to reinforce two ligaments.

The team says the procedure, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Wednesday, was necessary to reinforce the medial collateral and posterior cruciate ligaments. Ezeli sprained the knee during the regular-season finale at Portland on April 17.

Golden State expects him to soon begin rehabilitation and make a complete recovery, likely in a minimum of six to nine months.

Ezeli averaged 2.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.95 blocked shots - fourth among NBA rookies - in 78 regular-season games and 41 starts as a rookie. He was the 30th overall pick by the Warriors in the 2012 draft.

In 12 playoff games, he averaged 2.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in 11.2 minutes.

Festus Ezeli Out 6-9 Months Following Knee Surgery

Warriors center Festus Ezeli underwent knee surgery on his MCL and PCL and is expected to miss 6-9 months, the team announced Thursday. Ezeli appeared in 78 games (41 starts) during the 2012-13 season, averaging 2.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 14.4 minutes per game.
According to the Golden State Warriors:
Festus Ezeli underwent successful surgery yesterday on his right knee, the team announced. He will begin rehabilitation in the near future and is expected to make a complete recovery. The team’s medical staff indicates that recovery time could be a minimum of 6-9 months.

Stephen Jackson keeps it real

Moonlight rapper, Malice in the Palace-r, former Warriors captain Stephen Jackson gave a hilarious and candid interview with Bomani Jones and Dan LeBatard on (whatever their ESPN2 show is called) on Tuesday. The video’s title is “Stephen Jackson tells the realest stories.” That might be the most accurate YouTube video title ever. Do yourself a favor and watch this once or five times. If for no other reason, check it out for the story Jackson tells at the very end about Andris Biedrins and Marco Belinelli (we’re totally guessing whom he’s talking about, but probably) in the showers.

Warriors and Knicks Trade That Makes Sense

Tyson Chandler and a 1st rounder for David Lee?
This time of the year the trade rumors swirl and the Knicks are no exception to the constant rumors. New York finds itself in a quagmire of sorts. With no financial flexibility and “slim to none” trade possibilities, thinking outside the box and going for broke is in my mind. Is it a possibility the Golden State Warriors, fresh off a great playoff run, would want to partner up with the Knicks to help each team get better for next year? Maybe this transaction could work for both sides.
Tyson Chandler and the 24th pick for David Lee:
First Reaction: Everyone’s first reaction would be, why would the Warriors and the Knicks do this? Here is the breakdown for both teams, and why this could benefit both sides.
Warriors Point of View: G.S. tried to land Tyson Chandler and struck out in 2011. Then they tried to land DeAndre Jordan and struck out again the same year. They eventually landed the often-injured Andrew Bogut in a trade, who surpris...

Dwight Howard Coming to the Warriors? Just Wishful Thinking for Golden State

Much was made of Dwight Howard including the Golden State Warriors on his list of five teams that are on his wishlist to sign with in free agency.
It’s a major step forward for the Warriors just to be considered by Howard, one of the league’s best centers. A surprisingly successful season and a trip to the second-round of the NBA Playoffs has changed the landscape a bit and turned the Warriors into an attractive destination.
And wow, what would it mean for one of the best fan environments in the league to see Howard head up North and play at Oracle? Imagine Dwight being fed the ball by Stephan Curry. How about a starting five of Curry, Klay Thompson, David Lee, Harrison Barnes and Howard?
Imagining Curry and Thompson letting shots fly from three-point range while defenders are forced to focus on Howard down low is enticing. Letting Howard focus on isolating out of the post with the option of kicking the ball out to his back court shooters would be a thing of beauty.
The problem is t...

However, Stephen had one tattoo on his left wrist that says “TTC 30″ (TTC stands for Trust, Commitment, Care) and in the below clip, Steph is shown getting a new tattoo with a Hebrew saying, “Love Never Fails” on his inner right wrist:

Stephen Curry hopes to play entire career with the Warriors

Maybe looking ahead more than a week isn’t a very wise thing to do with somebody as injury-prone as Stephen Curry, but this is still nice thing for Warriors fans to hear coming from the mouth of everybody’s favorite Steve.
From Tom Sorensen of the Charlotte Observer:
I ask him Tuesday if he can see himself playing for a team other than Golden State.
“I can’t,” he says.
Curry talks about the four-year $44 million extension he signed seven months ago that kicks in next season. He’ll be 29 when the contract expires.
“I know that not many players play their whole career for one team in one city,” says Curry. “I don’t see a better place to play.”
What else would you expect him to say? “Yeah, I love playing for the Warriors now, but when my contract’s up, all bets are off. TRYNA GET DEM RINGS.” That would be hilarious to hear coming from Curry, but let’s be real. Not Curry’s style.
Right now the only thing that matters is Curry is locked in with the team for the next four seasons

WAGs Wednesday: Stephen Curry’s Wife, Ayesha Alexander

There’s no question who the best shooter in the NBA is. It’s Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, hands down. The former Davidson star’s jumper is so silky smooth, I’m amazed when it doesn’t go in. If only his ankles weren’t made out of paper-mache, he’d be a bona-fide superstar. If this kid get’s healthy, he’ll be the face of the NBA in a few years. Just wait.
Steph married actress Ayesha Alexander in 2011. I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything she’s been in, but it’s safe to assume Stephen has. Check out some photos of Stephen Curry’s beautiful wife, Ayesha Alexander:

I never realized Stephen Curry was such a cornball, but he’s definitely got good taste in women. I’m still trying to decide if Ayesha Alexander is hotter than his mom though…
This has been another edition of WAGs Wednesday. Got a WAG in mind who you’d like to see more of? Tweet me.

Stephen Curry Envisions Staying With Warriors For Duration Of Career

Stephen Curry hopes to be a Golden State Warrior for life.
Four years ago, Curry was disappointed that he wasn’t drafted by the Knicks; now, he worries that a new arena will alter the makeup of the Warriors’ notoriously rowdy fan base.
"No offense to New York, but I'm so, so happy I didn't fall to them in the draft," Curry said. "No matter what they do with the new arena, they better not change the dynamics of the fan base. If we have the same fans, in this new place … man, I'd want to play here forever. Wouldn't you?"
Curry is overwhelmed by the support he's received since leading the Warriors to the second round.
"You wanna know how much this place loves their Warriors?" Curry said. "We made it to the conference semifinals and they gave me a freaking key to the city. The key to the city! For the semis! If we'd have won the title, they'd have put a statue of coach Jackson on top of the bridge."

Warriors' David Lee has hip surgery

Golden State Warriors All-Star forward David Lee has undergone surgery to repair a torn right hip flexor.

The Warriors said the procedure was performed Thursday at the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia by Dr. William Meyers. Lee will start rehabilitation in the next 10 to 14 days.

No further timetable on his recovery was announced.

Lee hurt his hip in the playoff opener at Denver. The team originally called it a season-ending injury, but Lee played sparingly off the bench in the Game 6 clincher. After sitting out the first two games in the second round against San Antonio, Lee's minutes increased over the final four contests.

Lee averaged 18.5 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the regular season, becoming Golden State's first All-Star since Latrell Sprewell in 1997.

Klay Thompson wears 'Swagga Suit' onesie

Klay Thompson was the butt of jokes earlier this year for allegedly being treat like a child by his parents. So now, of course, he’s going to dress like a child. But that’s no ordinary onesie; it’s a Swagga Suit! (Spoiler alert: It’s still a onesie.) Swagga Suits are created by a company of University of Washington students, no doubt all bros and broettes. They first blew up in popularity when former Huskies hoops star Jon Brockman sported a UW version of the onesie, er, excuse me, Swagga Suit last year. And now here’s Klay Thompson with the Cougars version. There also additional versions available for other Pac-12 schools in the northwest. Even with the super bro-y name, when it comes down to it, these are still onesies. Eh, at least they don’t have bunny ears. Anyway, the rise of this horrible fashion trend is best explained by Jason Lisk: Coincidence that this is occurring less than six months after the state of Washington legalized marijuana? I think not. H/T The Big Lead; phot...

The Warriors salary cap issues could make them a one-hit wonder

An exhilarating playoff run gave spoiled Bay Area sports fans another reason to cheer but Warriors fans may have to jump right back on the Giants, A's, and 49ers bandwagons if their basketball team takes a step back next season.

The biggest issue that the Dubs have to deal with is their salary situation. At $69 million, their payroll was $11,6 million over the cap and just a drop below the luxury tax level. And next year, despite the expiration of Jarrett Jack's contract, the Warriors salary will balloon up to $75 million.

Two contracts will haunt the Warriors if salary problems force them to regress next season. Richard Jefferson, who picked up a player option worth $11 million for next year just yesterday, and Andris Biedrins, who chose to stick around for $9 million next year, are weighing the whole roster down.

Brandon Rush and Carl Landry have $4 million player options and next season Steph Curry's extension will kick in, bumping his salary from...

Warriors new San Francisco arena?

The Golden State Warriors have what many consider to be the best fan base in the NBA, and it seems like the organization is ready to reward them with an arena worthy of that status. In a story via Mike Foss of USA Today Sports, the Warriors revealed the first conceptual designs for a new arena that is supposed to be ready for the 2017 season. The arena would be 728,ooo square feet, and will also include a practice facility and team offices. The seating capacity will be less at 17,500 down from Oracle Arena’s 19,596. The designs are really amazing, and if the Warriors keep playing their fast-paced, aesthetically pleasing brand of basketball, I’m moving to Golden State.
