UTEP (18-13), the No. 3 seed, will play second-seeded Southern Mississippi, an 81-66 winner over UAB, in Friday's first semifinal. Jacques Streeter had 13 points and 12 assists for the Miners. Konner Tucker scored 12 points, McKenzie Moore scored 11 - all in the second half - and Cedrick Lang and C.J. Cooper had 10 points apiece. Oh, and did I forget to mention that McKenzie Moore of UTEP got some pay back for his teammate when he hit a game winning buzzer beater?  Well, he did.  UTEP won the game 68-67. Now comes video courtesy of The Big Lead where a college kid absolutely loses his mind.  Shamarr Bowden is a 6’4 guard for the Pirates who has provided some offensive spark for them this season. This weekend Bowden provided some punch of his own, in a bad way, when he two pieced Konner Tucker of UTEP after the two got tangled up. Bowden is throwing punches while his teammate Marshall Guilmette hangs from the rim after throwing down a monster dunk. Bowden reportedly has a bit of mean streak after being arrested last April on gun charges.  Bowden was arrested after firing rounds from a .45 caliber into the air during an argument. First it engulfed Memphis, where the Tigers blew a nine-point halftime lead in losing to UTEP 60-58. The victory was the Miners' first on the road this season and their second consecutive triumph over the Tigers at FedEx Forum. The hubris bug then hit Houston where Southern Miss lost its second consecutive road game to a sub-.500 team. The Cougars had dropped four consecutive games before their startling 73-71 victory over the Golden Eagles, who remain tied with Memphis atop C-USA. Let's get to the rankings. 1. Memphis (record: 19-8 overall, 1-1 last week; previous ranking: 1). The Tigers' at-large status for the NCAA Tournament is safe, but their home loss to UTEP could potentially damage their seeding.
