Tuukka Rask trips himself up, giving Carl Hagelin easy goal (Video)

Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask gave up an easy goal in the second period of Thursday night's Game 4 against the New York Rangers when he tripped himself up and couldn't recover in time to stop Carl Hagelin's backhand shot on the net.

Bruins defender Johnny Boychuk deflected Hagelin's shot and really slowed it down, while Rask was positioning himself for a quick slapshot. When Rask tried to adjust for the change in puck speed, he tripped and fell on his butt, leaving him helpless as he watched the puck trickle by him and into the net to cut the Bruins lead in the game to 2-1.

The goal ended up being a critical one, as the Rangers tied the game in the third period and won the game in overtime to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Tuukka Rask slips, falls, allows terrible goal

We've all heard that expression "boy, he'd like to have that one back." I'm pretty sure that applies to Tuukka Rask here. In Thursday night's game, with the Bruins up 2-0, Rask moves to his left, slips somehow, and allows a Carl Haglin barely-there shot to roll on by: There's so much to love/hate about this goal, depending on what team you're pulling for. As a neutral party, it's just comical. The batting, the whiffing, the watching the puck roll on in... hide the milk crates.

Dennis Seidenberg ‘Getting Better Every Day,’ Optimistic About Game 4 Return (Video)

As you probably know, Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg has been out of action since Game 7 against the Maple Leafs. Luckily for him, the B’s have been just fine in Seidenberg’s absence, and he admits that it makes it easier to take an additional day to get healthy knowing that your teammates are taking care of business.
Even though he’s not on the ice, Seidenberg has a pretty good pulse of the team, and right now he says the Bruins are playing with confidence, and that’s a recipe for success. Check out everything Seidenberg told NESN Daily‘s Naoko Funayama at Bruins practice on Wednesday in the video below.

Bruins Throwback Thursday: Patrice Bergeron Then & Now (PHOTOS)

It can be argued that Patrice Bergeron is the heart and soul of the Boston Bruins. Some say that he should be the captain of the team. However, there is no debate that he is one of the best two way players in the NHL. Bergeron won the Selke last season as the league’s best defensive forward and is nominated this year as well.
The 10 year veteran’s (he is only 27) leadership, grittiness and determination was encapsulated in the Bruins “Miracle On Causeway” comeback versus Toronto. He scored the tying and winning goals. And don’t forget his two tallies versus the Vancouver Canucks in Game Seven of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals.
Pretty sure Bergeron means “Clutch” in French.
So this is “Bergy” but who was he Patrice Bergeron of days gone by?
Well step into the Black & Gold time machine for Bruins Throwback Thursday!

The Trials and Tribulations of Tyler Seguin

As the Boston Bruins prepare for their shot at completing the four-game series sweep of the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden, on the heels of a thrilling come-from-behind 2-1 victory in that very building Tuesday night, the question that continues to baffle fans and media pundits alike is as follows. What is going on with Tyler Seguin? The once budding Bruin superstar and former number 2 overall pick, he who led Boston in goals and points during the 2011-2012 regular posting a 29-38-67 stat line that had most people claiming it to be his "break-out year", had a largely unimpressive 2012-2013 regular season and has followed that up by being a virtual non-factor thus far in the post-season. Ten games into the 2013 playoffs, Seguin's third go-around in post-season play, the 21-year-old winger has recorded only a single assist (granted that assist happened to be monstrous as it came on Patrice Bergeron's g...

Jack Edwards Says Daniel Paille’s Game 3 Goal Defied Laws of Physics (Audio)

Feel like the hockey gods just won’t let Shawn Thornton score? So does Jack Edwards.
After the Bruins’ Game 3 win over the New York Rangers to take a commanding 3-0 series lead, Edwards took some time to talk to the Loren & Wally show on WROR. Specifically, he talked about Daniel Paille‘s game-winning goal, which was put home off of Thornton’s rebound.
Like everyone else, Edwards thought the goal was a little bizarre, so listen to him talk about the sequence on his radio interview Wednesday morning in the audio below.
And, if you’re so inclined, visit Loren & Wally on the web at WROR.com.

Bruins, Rangers team up for double high sticks

Boston Bruins forward Tyler Seguin was bringing the puck into the zone when he went to put a shot on net. As he shot, New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider put his stick out to poke check, and Seguin’s follow through ended up riding all the way up Kreider’s stick and Kreider was hit in the face. At the same time Rangers defenseman Steve Eminger was trying to impede Seguin and his stick ended up getting in Seguin’s face and hit him in the mouth. Never have I seen two people get hit in the face with high sticks simultaneously, but that’s exactly what happened during the Bruins game three win last night. Both players would end up being fine, but getting hit in the face with a stick is never fun.
Jaromir Jagr Hosts, Visits With Children of Boston First Responders After Game 2 in Boston (Photo)

Bruins forward Jaromir Jagr took to the ice following Game 2 against the Rangers on Sunday to get some extra work in. That’s not all he was doing, however, after the team’s 5-2 win against New York.
Jagr also spent time after the game hanging out with a group of children. The group of 20 kids, which are all members of the Boys and Girls Club, are also children of Boston first responders. Jagr invited the children as a thank you for their parents’ dedication and service.
Additionally, AT&T will make a $50,000 donation to the Boston Boys and Girls Club in honor of Jagr’s contributions.
“We are grateful to Jaromir Jagr and AT&T for the generous donation,” Josh Kraft, president and CEO of Boys and Girls Club of Boston, said. “This is a tremendous example of how people in our community take care of one another. As a result of this gift our members will be even more prepared for the future.”

Double high-stick in Rangers-Bruins Game 3, with no penalty called (Video)

A weird play took place in the third period of Tuesday night's Game 3 between the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins when two high sticks occurred simultaneously, but neither one of them was called a penalty.

Rangers defenseman Steve Eminger lost control of his stick as he tried to tap it away from Bruins center Tyler Seguin as he skated into the Rangers zone. At the same time, Seguin tried to shoot it through Eminger and left winger Chris Krieder, who came back to help. The end result was a double high-stick, with Eminger hitting Seguin in the face and Seguin hitting Krieder in the face. Play was stopped as Krieder and Seguin needed time to recover, but both players appeared to be OK.

You would think at least one of them would have been called a penalty. Terrible job by the officials. How do they miss that?

Daniel Paille’s Bizarre Bouncing Goal Propels Bruins to 3-0 Series Lead Over Rangers (Video)

The New York Rangers shut down the Bruins’ top scorers Tuesday night, but it was the grinders that ended up leading the B’s to victory.
Boston’s fourth line was on the ice for both of their goals in Game 3, including Daniel Paille‘s game-winner with 3:31 to play in regulation. Gregory Campbell‘s shot from the left boards ricocheted off linemate Shawn Thornton and over the head of Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist. The puck bounced dangerously close to the goal line, but Paille was there to hammer it home, paving the way for the Bruins to take a 3-0 lead in the teams’ Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Tyler Seguin Still Looking to Break Through in Playoffs As Bruins Look for Goal-Scoring Spark to Return (Video)

Tyler Seguin scored 16 goals in the regular season, but the Bruins are still waiting for their gifted winger to show that goal-scoring form in the playoffs.
Seguin has zero goals and just one assist entering Tuesday’s Game 3 against the Rangers, and Boston would certainly love to see him begin adding to those totals soon. Despite a breakaway attempt in the first period, the 21-year-old just hasn’t been able to break through in the second season.
NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is hoping that will change soon. See why in the above video.

The Jagr practices alone late into the night

The Jagr skates alone deep into the nice (Kudos to Kevin Paul Dupont, for once)
Jaromir Jagr has had a frustrating playoff season so far. Despite the fact that he continues to play well, he has mostly been off the scoring sheet. When he finally had a brilliant opportunity to put home a goal on Sunday, he was robbed on a diving stop by King Henrik. It has been a long time since The Jagr was slaying the ladies and scoring goals late into the nights with his long, beautiful flowing mane.
There is The Jagr, though, skating majestically with the lights just shining down on him as he practices once again. Long after the Bruins had won game two, The Jagr knows he must get better, be stronger. One must wonder what goes through thru the mind of the Jagr. Perhaps he is thinking of former times, about the crazy Berlin-orgy of 1991, when The Jagr went into the nightclub looked around and realized that it was his god given mission to christen little Jagr babies all through the night. On that nig...

Torey Krug’s Confidence Playing Key Role As Rookie Giving Bruins Jolt in Playoff Debut

BOSTON — The nerve-wracking nature of the Stanley Cup playoffs can be too much for some players. Conversely, there are also who rise to the occasion when the lights shine brightest. Through the first two postseason games of his career, Torey Krug appears to belong in the latter group.
If playing your game — and succeeding at playing game — are the true barometers for comfort in sports, then it would appear the Bruins rookie defenseman is more than comfortable right now. With injuries taking their toll on the Boston blue line, Krug, along with Matt Bartkowski and Dougie Hamilton, have been called on to play some big minutes in the club’s second-round series with the Rangers.
All have been impressive in a variety of ways, but none of them have contributed on the statsheet through two games against New York like Krug has. The Michigan State product scored his first career goal in Game 1, and he followed that up with a goal and an assist in Game 2.
It’s not just the points Krug is putti...

Jaromir Jagr Not Content With Bruins’ 2-0 Lead Over Rangers, Puts in Practice Time Alone Three Hours After Bruins Win (Photo)

The Bruins posted a dominant 5-2 win over the New York Rangers to pull ahead to two games to none in the Eastern Conference semifinals on Sunday night. But Jaromir Jagr didn’t see that fact as enough to warrant a night off.
The forward is in the midst of a playoff scoring drought that dates back to his time with the Philadelphia Flyers, and it’s possible he’s hoping to contribute more to the B’s through the rest of the series. Jagr was seen on the ice at TD Garden around 8 PM, more than three hours after the Bruins’ win over the Rangers, in front of 17,565 empty seats practicing alone in a Bruins beanie hat.
Check out the dedicated teammate in the photo below.

Today his Bruins beat the New York Rangers 5-2 to take a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. That apparently is not enough to earn him the night off. The Boston Globe‘s Kevin Paul DuPont snapped a picture of Jagr practicing alone in an empty TD Bank Garden. Jagr has yet to score a goal in these playoffs. I guess JJ saw what the Rangers did to the Capitals in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals after going down 0-2. Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Boston's rookies showing veteran poise

Dougie Hamilton, Matt Bartkowski and Torey Krug. Three names most Bruins fans probably did not expect to hear much about coming into the 2013 NHL playoffs. The three rookie defenseman, while stacked with potential as future blue liners in the Bruins' lineup, figured to play minimal roles in whatever cup run the Boston Bruins were going to make. However, by the end of a strenuous 7-game opening series with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the B’s found themselves with a defensive corps depleted by injuries. With veterans Wade Redden and Andrew Ference unavailable due to injury, Claude Julien was forced to insert Hamilton and Bartkowski into the lineup in a critical game 7. After Dennis Seidenberg suffered an apparent leg injury just 37 seconds in, Julien had to then entrust increased minutes to the two rookies. Bartkowski played an impressive 24:51 and registered his first career goal to kick off the scoring. He did a solid job filling in for Seidenberg, playing strong on the penalty k...

Brad Marchand threw water bottle on ice before OT faceoff in Game 7 (Video)

Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand threw a water bottle on the ice before the overtime faceoff during Monday night's Game 7 at the TD Garden against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bruins coach Claude Julien didn't like the way his players were lined up for the faceoff, but couldn't get the attention of his players, so Marchand tossed the water bottle onto the ice to force the officials to blow the whistle and have his teammates reset. Marchand was not assessed with a delay of game penalty.

The choke’s on you Toronto

I have to admit, I was home watching the Bruins getting manhandled by the Toronto Maple Leafs to the tune of 4-1 in the third period, and I turned the channel.
No way in hell are they coming back from this one, right? Luckily my phone was right by my side to catch a glimpse of a comeback in the making. So back to the game it was…
Maybe Boston fans can call this karma for that idiot fan’s “Toronto Stronger” sign. At any rate, it’s a sad day in Toronto, eh?
