Harrison: The Grammys

What's good YB?! Hope everyone is getting off to a great start to the week!

I'll start here by saying there's nothing I hate more than people who hop on the internet and hate on other people! The only way you can EVER make a negative comment about someone publicly is if you can do what they do better than them. And, since I clearly can't sing or entertain like any of the people on the stage last night, this isn't me hating on them! This is just my opinion on a few things from the Grammy's last night..

For starters, Beyonce may be the best entertaining we've got right now. Homegirl puts on a SHOW! And she can actually SING!!! So many of your stars today CAN'T, and it's wack, but thats an entirely different discussion. Anyway, I enjoyed Beyonces performance and couldn't be happier for her for all of her success.

Secondly, what's good with Pink? I'm actually a Pink fan, and I enjoy her voice as I believe (like Beyonce), she's one of the few we've got that can carry a tune consistently. With that being said, she was in a sheet, swinging from the ceiling in a blanket, and some how got soaking wet through out the performance and was rocking a thong?! Word? Had me all kinds of confused. I guess to some people thats "art," but just seemed strange to me. Speaking of strange, hows everyone feel about Lady Gaga? I'll be the first to say, if I'm out somewhere and one of her songs comes on, more often then not I get my two step on. But, even she confuses me. I wasn't all that impressed with her vocals live last night, not to mention how crazy all of her outfits are? From the first thing I saw her wearing on the red carpet, to what she was wearing when she performed, to what she was wearing when she sat down, her outfits are OUT OF CONTROL! Where do we draw the line between pushing the envelop and being fashion forward, and just being straight up wack? I'll be the first to say I don't know where to draw the line, but I've got to believe she's damn near it..

What'd you think of the MJ tribute? Honestly, I was looking for a bit more! Don't get me wrong, the artist they had sing were all INCREDIBLE and did an amazing job with the song. But, after the slow song, I would have loved if Smooth Criminal, Beat it, Thriller or something along those lines came on and they had the best dancers of our generation come out and do MJ dances routines from the music videos!

Jamie Foxx and T-Pains performance was absolutely hysterical (especially the beginning).

Unfortunately, I fell asleep towards the end, but I'm catching up on what I missed tonight, so I may have a bit more insight later on this week!

On a completely different note, there were some pretty serious hoops performances on Monday (Kobe game winner, Lebron, Bosh). The Pro Bowl is an awkward game to watch isn't it? I don't blame those dudes for not getting after each other, they spend 15 weeks destroying their bodies, so the reward is a game at the end of the season (When they're all looking to vacation) where they can beat each other up more? Seems like it makes more sense to announce a Pro Bowl team, get a little bonus, and have NO game? I'm sure I'm not the first person to say that, just watching that game for a bit yesterday really made me think about it.

Anyway, I need to get a little more done before I shut it down for the day, so I'll talk to you all soon!

Random Stuff

YB! What's good? I know it's been a week or two since I've been able to jump on, so I apologize for the delay!

Things are good with me for the most part! Just training hard with the Zone Ready guys, traveling promoting my new K18 equipment line with STX, and starting to finalize all of my camp dates for the summer. It's been an awkward few days out here in California because it's been raining! Like hard pouring down rain, it's weird! That hasn't happened in my two plus years of living here. I guess it was bound to happen sometime though right? People here are driving all slow, staying home, not working..you'd think it was dumping snow the way this LA crew has responded to the rain.

Been watching hoops lately? I watched Lebron and D-Wade go at each other last night and that was some EXCITING stuff! Watching those two defend each other at the end of the game was one of the best match ups I've seen in the past few years. I know NBA players sometimes take heat for not playing defense until the playoffs, but after watching that last night, my trainer brought up a great point this morning. Could their bodies take playing hard, aggressive physical defense (and playing the same way on offense) for 81 games in a regular season? I'd have to think no, right? Guys would be injured all the time, bodies would be exhausted a lot, and there's no way you could battle at both ends of the court like that EVERY night. There are clearly exceptions (just like there always are), but overall, it's got to be physically impossible (for most) to play at that level at both ends of the courts on every night. Either way, I enjoyed watching it.

If you guys get a chance, my younger cousin Maxx Davis who plays at UMBC is writing a little column on my Playmaker website (PlaymakerLacrosse.com) and talking through his final season of college lacrosse! So to all you lax fans out there, check that out!

Who's going to win the Superbowl? Any predictions? I'm not thrilled that my Ravens are still up in the mix, but I'm slowly getting over it. Should be a good game between the Saints/Colts, though I'm still not sure who I'm rooting for.

Anyone else think this commercial is hilarious?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQIoZFd-pe4

Since college lacrosse season is right around the corner, and most of our sponsored teams (STX) are wearing my new K18 equipment! I'm proud to see my Hopkins boys running playing on Saturdays wearing my stuff! Though I'm not an MD fan (our biggest rival in college), I've got to say that their K18 gloves came out HOT!!! Check these out below!

Have a great rest of the week, and I'll catch up with you all soon!!

LaxPrax Clip!

What's good YB!? I hope everyones gotten off to a solid start to the week!

I shot a video this morning using the new Lax Prax product and here's a brief clip from it! I'm very proud to be associated with the product and I truly believe it will change the way lacrosse players develop their stick work! Not everyone has access to a wall, and more importantly, no one wants to chase after a ball once it hits the wall awkwardly and goes 10FT over your head and takes off down the road! Check out http://www.laxpraxstore.com/ if you think the product looks cool, and I'll let you all know once the full video is done!!

Have a great day!!

KH

Guest Blogger!!!!!! Maxx Davis from UMBC Lacrosse Team

Maxx, my little cousin who is a senior at UMBC will be writing a column on my Playmaker Lacrosse Website! I always wished I would have kept a diary, or blog or whatever you want to call it my final season in college, so I'm really interested to read what he puts together. So, he put his first post in yesterday and I figured I'd toss it up here as well! I'm proud of everything he's accomplished in his career and excited to watch him play in his final year in college! We write similarly, it's a bit awkward, but oh well. Here it is...

What up everyone? Happy New Year! The last few weeks for me have been pretty eventful to say the least. The holidays were a time for me to get away from school for a while and spend some quality time with the family. It was nice to have my cousin Kyle back in town from L.A. for a few days. I don't see him as much as I used to so having him around for the holidays was definitely a treat. Too bad it went by so quickly!

It's funny getting older because some things, like Christmas, tend to sneak up on you. Two days before the best holiday of the year and I had done absolutely zero shopping, not that I had money to shop with...one of the perks of being a college student. Luckily, that wasn't the case for my mom and dad who got my brother Marrio and I some amazing presents! Anyone played that new DJ Hero game? I got that for Christmas and if you haven't played, scoop it up ASAP! One of the most fun games I've ever played. I also got a new pair of golf clubs which will come in handy once it starts to get a little warmer!

Kinda hard to believe that its already 2010. This is the first decade I've lived through that I can actually remember! Kinda makes me feel old, but we all know that's not the case. My New Year's resolution was pretty simple: have no regrets. 2010 marks my final collegiate lacrosse season and I wanna go out on top with a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! The past few weeks for me have been work, work, work. We (UMBC) start practice on the 13th and I want to be in the best shape possible. In addition to working out, I'm currently taking a winter class for my major (Media and Communication Studies). It's called Desktop Publishing and the Web and yes, it is as hard as it sounds. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to make it through but i'll figure something out.

Well that's about all I've got for now. I'm about to head to the gym and play some basketball with my teammates (great way to stay in shape by the way). I'll see you next week!

Maxx

Happy New Year!!

YB!!!!!! Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a great holiday and new year!!! I know I had a blast back in Baltimore with my family for about 10 days! I was able to catch up with some of my oldest (and best) friends, get some good home cooking from mama, and actually relax for a day or two!

It's crazy getting older and having all of these little kids running around my parents house! My two nieces and nephew were absolutely hilarious all week long! My nephew got this hilarious Batman cape which he proceeded to never take off, which was absolutely hilarious. I'll attach a picture of the little guy! I got a few good things for christmas from the family too! My girlfriend gave me an AWESOME watch case with my initials on it, so now I've got somewhere to put my watches! The past few years I've really gotten into watches, so it'll be nice to have a spot for them now! I got a new PSP from my parents, which will definitely make flying a bit easier these days. I somehow broke my last one a few months back, so I'm fired up to be back in the game. I definitely got some other good stuff, but this Christmas was all about the little ones, as it should be. One thing I had to make sure of was that the whole family was decked out in Nike kicks, even the babies! All in all it was an amazing holiday season back in Baltimore and I'm very thankful to have the family that I do.

Crazy to think it's 2010 huh? I was just thinking about it yesterday, 10 years ago I was about to graduate high school and head to Hopkins! A lot has happened in 10 years, more than I could have ever imagined! Where were you 10 years ago? Have things gone the direction you thought they would? 10 years ago I don' think I had much direction, but I'm VERY happy with the direction things have gone and the opportunities that have presented themselves.

In 2010 I'm determined to play as much lacrosse as I possibly can! I don't know if it was being injured all last summer that did it, but I find myself thinking about playing more than I ever have and I can't wait to get back on to the field. I'll be playing at the end of the month down in Miami at the Bump and Grind tournament which I'm fired up about, I'm playing club out here in L.A., and I'm finalizing a team for the Jam By the Sea tournament in April down in SD. There are a few other potential events I'll be playing in in between there as well, so I'll keep you updated! Either way, I'm trying to play as much as possible and have an absolute blast doing it.

Anything else new going on? Not too much on my end. I've got a lot of new music these days which is always nice. What'd you all think of the We Are Young Money CD that dropped over the holidays? I'm still not sure how I feel about it yet. I'm definitely a fan of some of the artist on the label, just not sold on all yet...either way, got the album bumping in the car as we speak, so I'm sure I'll come around. Did you guys see Avatar!?!?!?! Thats the best movie I've seen in awhile (and I see a lot of movies!!!)! I absolutely LOVED it! Looking forward to the sequel of that joint for sure.

Well, I need to get back at some work, but I'll be releasing my summer camp dates soon, so I'll be sure to get them up on the blog!!

Talk to you all soon!

December catch up

YB!!!! What's good?!

I know I've been out of the loop for a bit, and I apologize! Things got a bit crazy leading up to LXM (Nov 21st), then right after that I jumped on a plane and headed to Myrtle Beach with my family for Thanksgiving! It was a lot of fun, relaxing and a much needed break. My two nieces and nephew are getting bigger and bigger, it's crazy to see! Saundra and Sage (3 and 5) beat up on AJ since he's the youngest, but he'll get them one day! I helped him out a bit too in the wrestling matches, so he did OK. It was great to spend 4 or 5 days with my family, see a few movies, play some board games, and eat A LOT of food.

Since the holiday, I've been bouncing around the country promoting the K18 line. I've hit Portland, Austin, Northern California, and I'm heading to Jersey and PA next week for an event or two as well. I've met a lot of great people and had a lot of fun showing everyone my new equipment line. My favorite color in the line right now is the Royal Blue, I think it looks CLEAN! Digging it.

I made it up to Nike last week which was GREAT as always. I had a few meetings, gave my girlfriend a tour around the campus, and hit the campus store and did some SERIOUS Christmas shopping. Got a few hot pairs of sneaks that I'm fired up to rock soon. My favorite part of the store is that you can ship everything home! Makes it so much easier to travel, especially when you're an awful packer like I am. On yeah, my man Keith from Nike Soccer stopped by my autograph session at Big Foot Lacrosse and dropped off some HOT new Nike Soccer hoodies, so that was a high light of the trip as well. And lastly, I finally got to see my picture that hangs on the campus above the lake! I'll try to attach a picture to this post of it! Definitely a dream come true seeing that!

Anyway, not too much else is new with me! Anyone seen Armored? I'm a big fan of the lad actor, so I wanted to check that out on Friday, but I was in Austin. May have to check that out tonight. Season 5 of LOST comes out on Tuesday (8th), so I need to scoop that up and watch it all so I'm prepared for the start of season 6 on Feb 2nd!

Anyone else wish the holiday season was a bit longer? I love the lights, music, and how people are more often then not in a better mood then usual. Kind of sucks that it only lastly one month. I could go for like a two-three month holiday season, I think that would be perfect.

Oh yeah, anyone have any thoughts on Joakim Noah talking trash to Lebron the other day? I didn't see what happened, but heard a bunch of dudes talking about it at the gym. What about Kobe these days? Cat is getting better and better which is scary.

If you haven't heard The Cab before, check out some of their music, digging those cats these days.

Alright, time to get my Monday going, so I'll holler with a video before the week is over!

Harrison: Random Thoughts

YB!!!! What's good?! I apologize for only writing once last week. I meant to jump back on and write about a few things!

Anyway, hope the weekend went well and that the week got started right! I know I mentioned that I was apart of the 40 man training roster for the US Training team the past few months, and last week they announced the final 23 guys and I wasn't on the list. Now, clearly, I was disappointed, but the selection is completely out of my control. I was proud to be a part of the 40 man Training Roster, and though I wasn't selected for the final 23 guys, I'm confident that the guys that did will go over to England next summer and bring the Gold medal back where it belongs. Pumped up for my boys Max Seibald, Paul Rabil, Stephen Peyser, Joe Cinosky Drew Westervelt and Brendan Mundorf! Go to work fellas! I was fortunate enough to be part of the las US National Team (2006), so this is by no means the end of the world, just part of the game. Now it's time to get my off-season work outs going with my trainers, stay positive, work on getting my shot off quicker out of my dodge, and get ready to GO TO WORK next year for Denver!

Any of you all seen This is It? I'm hoping you all have! I've heard AMAZING things and I'm a HUGE MJ fan, have been seen since I was a baby and my parents would put on his music videos for me to fall asleep to. Either way, I promised Meredith I'd go with her, and I've been on the road and she's been on location working so we haven't gotten a chance yet! But, I think tomorrow is the night! Can't wait.

Weezy fans out there? Seen the trailer for his new documentary? Looks pretttttttty serious. More importantly, heard No Ceilings? I honestly think it may be better than Drought 3, which is the best mix tape I've ever heard. Interested to know everyone else's opinion on the situation.

Any thoughts on hoops thus far? Because of coast to coast travel, I haven't been able to watch as much as I'd like, but I'm liking how Nash is playing. Dropping dimes all over the place. Always exciting to see a dude of that size control the entire game WITH OUT scoring. Caught a bunch of Syracuse highlights this morning and those cats are ATHLETIC! Talking about running the floor! They'll literally run people into the ground this year with out a doubt.

You guys read ESPN Magazine? I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before here, but I'm a HUGE fan of the column called Player X. They've got dudes in the NFL writing a column about all the stuff that NO ONE talks about, definitely giving HUGE glimpse into the lives of these dudes. Some CRAZY stuff goes down with out a doubt.

Thats about all I've got for now!

I need to get some work done, but I'll get at you all a bit later!!

LXM Pro Tour

What’s going on YB!! Hope the week is going well!

As I mentioned last week, I wanted to write and fill you guys in on the new project I’m involved in out here in L.A.! It’s called the LXM PRO Tour and I couldn’t be more excited about it! LXM 949 (SoCal, first stop of the tour) is the first lacrosse event that will highlight 40 of the best players in the world, and be followed by a HUGE performance by Akon! As lacrosse players, our main goal is to continue to push our sport in the right direction towards the other mainstream sports! The first of these events will be in Orange County on November 21st (LXM 949).

There are so many different components through out the day that will bring in different crowds to get a look at our great sport, and hopefully create some new lacrosse fans! For starters, there will be an on field casting call sponsored by Sports Studio Casting, in search for young athletic actors to be cast in upcoming Hollywood productions. Shortly after that, there will be a lacrosse clinic powered by Team STX (Joe Walters, Anthony Kelly, Sean Morris, and Stephen Brooks) where all kinds of new skills will be taught, there will be cool give-a-ways, contest, raffles, poster signing and all kinds of other cool stuff! After the clinic, there will be an MCLA game between Chapman and UCSB, which will definitely be an entertaining game! Both teams have a lot of talented players and will certainly put on a good show. Once the club game is over, the Pro’s are taking the field! We’ve got some of the top talent in the world to come showcase their talent and compete against each other! Guys like Mickey Jarboe, John Walker, Jake Byrne, Mikey Powell and lots more! When the Pro game is over, the night will be capped with a BLOW OUT CONCERT by Akon! It’s going to be an AWESOME DAY in Organe County! Check out www.LXMPRO.com for more information!

Thus far, it’s been amazing being a part of the whole creative process, and then to actually see it all coming together in the past few weeks has been incredible. I truly do believe this event will help to push our game in the right direction and force the country to recognize what a great sport we’re all apart of! I’ve gotten a lot of comments on my Facebook wall or twitter account with people liking the concept, and some people thinking it’s bad for our sport. Bottom line, anytime you start something new, there are going to be people who dislike what you’re doing, or hate on it for no apparent reason. But the people who say this is bad for our sport, or will set our sport back, clearly don’t really love the sport of lacrosse or, are just plain old haters (which I love, keep it up). We’re a group of guys who absolutely LOVE the sport of lacrosse and are doing everything we can to help make our sport more garner more national attention, and help to brand the best personalities in our sport! By combining music, a talent search, and some of the best lacrosse players in the world, we think we’re going to be able to create some new lacrosse fans and create some amazing events across the country! Add the fact that our first event is in a market like Los Angeles, and we’re going to hopefully create a great buzz for our sport!

I’ll attach a few of the flyers for the event, and as I said earlier, check out LXMPro.com for details of the event!

I’ll talk to you guys later this week!

Hoops This Week!!!!

What's crackin' off YB?!?!

Anybody else crazy excited for the start of the NBA season this week?! I CAN'T WAIT! Been waiting for this for months!! See the new Jordan brand commercial? Break to Build? If not, Youtube that joint ASAP! Crazy to see that D-Wade got scooped up by Team Jordan, happy to see him with CP3, Jeter and Melo in that commercial with out a doubt. Anyone had a chance to read the new SLAM with Shaq and Lebron on the cover? Pretty solid NBA preview in there, I enjoyed it. Also, the Hall of Fame tribute to Jordan (SLAM) has the best Jordan article I've ever read written by Scoop Jackson. It's called "Are You There God? It's Me, Scoop Jackson." I've never read an article where the author was literally able to capture the feeling that I'm certain EVERY basketball fan has felt at some time about MJ. Awesome article, and I'm planning on framing it! Definitely worth checking out if you get a chance!

My weekend was pretty busy as I was in 4 different states in 3 days. I was in Seattle on Thursday night for an event to promote the new K18 equipment line, so that was a lot of fun and I got some great feedback on the equipment line. Then, I headed to San Fran on Friday morning for another K18 promotional event and had a blast there with some GREAT kids and a great retailer (Sling It). Then, Sat morning it was off to Denver to play a scrimmage with the Outlaws (MLL team) against DU, which was a lot of fun. I played terrrrrrrribly as I had a new stick and couldn't figure out how to throw or shoot with it, so I kept throwing the ball all over the place! But, Drew Westervelt (Outlaw attackmen) KILLED it as usual and had 7Gs! So, we won and it was a great day of lacrosse in Denver.

There's a new project involved out here in LA called the LXM PRO Tour! I'll be dedicating the my next blog this week to explaining what a cool and exciting project LXM is! In the mean time, check out LXMPRO.com and learn a little bit about the tour! I can't wait for our first event on November 21st! Going to be awesome!

I'm around Marina Del Rey all week, which is exciting as I haven't been home for an entire week in quite some time! Going to be able to get a bunch of solid work outs in with the trainers and get a lot of work done, definitely a good feeling. We've got our last weekend of US Training team work outs coming up this weekend in Stony Brook, and then the final 23 guys will be selected next week sometime. It's been a lot of fun being a part of the US process again and being with all of the guys. All 40 guys on the training team are talented enough to be on the squad, so it's going to be a tough team to pick for the coaches.

Scooped up a few movies this week, Transformers (2), The Proposal, and Wolverine: Origins, so my flights have been entertaining for the most part!

That's about all I've got for now! Need to get a little work done before hooping in a few hours! I'll catch up with you all in a day or two!

Have a GREAT Monday!

Back in L.A.

YB!!!!! What's the deal?!

I hope everyone's Monday is going well. I landed in L.A., from Annapolis last night at about 1:45am, so I'm exhausted! But, life goes on, stuff to do, things to catch up on, you know how it goes!

I had a pretty solid weekend back east with the US Training Team. I got in on Thursday night and was able to head over to my parents house and catch up with them which was great. Happy Birthday Dad! My dad turned 60 on Saturday, so it was definitely a good thing being able to see him on the big b-day weekend. On Saturday, the US Training squad practiced with the Navy team, which was a lot of fun. Navy's got some great players and is clearly one of the most respected programs in the country. Saturday evening, we had a reception with the 74' and 78' US teams, so it was great to be around all of those great players. Not to mention the food at the reception was OFF THE CHAINS. Sunday, we split the training team (41 guys) into two teams and played MD, Navy and UVA. It was good to play and get up and down. All of those programs are going to have huge years, as they all have a lot of talented players. We've got one more weekend of US training team camp which will be at Stony Brook on October 30th.

Unfortunately, my travel doesn't slow down too much this week. I'm heading to Seattle on Thursday to do some K18 events, then to NorCal for some K18 events on Friday night, and then flying right to Denver on Saturday morning because the Denver Outlaws (my pro team) are playing DU's team, so that should be a lot of fun! I'm fired up as it will be the first time I get to play in a game and WEAR MY OWN EQUIPMENT!!!! Wooohooo! The pro league isn't sponsored by STX or Nike, so I'm never able to actual wear my equipment in a real game situation. But, this Saturday will be the first time I toss on the new K18 line and get my lax on! I know, seems small, but I'm pretty excited about it.

Anything new going on with you guys? I wish I had some more to report, not too much new with me. I'm settled into my apartment which is great. I got a bunch of new LIVESTRONG and TIger Woods Nike apparel in the mail a few days back, so thats always exciting stuff.

I got two songs I'm into right now...I can Transform ya (Chris Brown, Weezy), and What a Catch (Fall out boy), that I CAN'T stop listening to for some reason. I saw the music video for What a Catch last week at my parents house and instantly liked the song. Also, check out the Drop It Low video (Ester Dean featuring Chris Brown), it's a good one as well.

I know there have been far more educated baseball people who have written about this already, but how ridiculous is A-rod? Honestly, it's getting a little out of control how clutch homeboy is. I'm not even into baseball, but I've definitely enjoyed watching playoff baseball, especially the Yankee's. I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and go as far to say I'm a fan, but it's been entertaining for sure.

That's about all I've got, need to get some work done!

Catch up with you all soon!

K18 Release!!!

YB!

My bad for being out of touch last week, I was bouncing around all over the place! Last week I was in Texas, Austin and Dallas....it was A LOT of fun and very productive, but I was EXHAUSTED last weekend when I got back!

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about the release of the new K18 line!!!! In ATL, Breakaway (lacrosse retailerS), was nice enough to come out to my camp at Milton High School with all of the new equipment to show the kids! Seeing all the new stuff all packaged up and being sold is an amazing feeling. Thinking back to a a year and a half ago when this whole creative process started, I can't believe we finally got it done! As I've mentioned to you all before unlike my last line (I just graduated and we had a quick deadline), with this line, I was involved from the very beginning to the end and it was an experience I'll never forget.

Depending on what area you're in, you've GOT to get by a store and check it out!!!! If you're in the SoCal area, get by SouthSwell, in NorCal, Sling It, in Baltimore, Laxworld, and in NY, check out Lacrosse Unlimited!

I've got more to shout at you all later about! Need to go get some work done!

Still depressed about my Ravens yesterday....

Talk to you all tomorrow!!
