Will Brett Favre just go on and retire?

Please Brett, just go home. You had your emotional press conference, you duped us into believing that you didn't want to play anymore, that you couldn't do it emotionally and you wanted to spend time with your family. You finally gave poor Aaron Rodgers a chance to play in this league that he was drafted into as a replacement 3 years ago, and now you're clouding over his development because you can't make up your mind. I'm sure being at home is much more boring than preparing for an NFL season, but guess what, that's what you chose to do. If you want to come back, I'm pretty sure it's not going to be with the Packers and you should think about what that would be like. You don't want to be like Joe Montana leaving the Niners for Kansas City, do you? Just stay home Brett, all you've become is a story during the boring summer of the NFL landscape.

Is Olympian Dara Torres doping?

I love to believe in great stories, comeback stories, and underdogs taking down the favorites. However, since the past decade has been marred by scandal after scandal, it has become increasingly difficult to believe some feats that have been accomplished. Insert into this category the shocking feats of 41 year old swimmer Dara Torres in the Olympic trials. She is smoking the competition and setting world records...AT THE AGE OF 41! Not only is she beating swimmers half her age, she's had a child, multiple shoulder and knee surgeries, and oh, did I mention she's 41! So that brings up the inevitable questions: is she doping? Is she on something that the Olympic Committee can't even test for yet? She has made herself open to any and all tests that the US Anti-Doping Agency wants to conduct so I guess she's pretty confident she won't get caught of perhaps, just maybe, she is actually clean and this is a story for the record books. Your thoughts?

Team USA becomes the "Redeem Team"

Team USA will try to redeem themselves in this summer's Olympic Games in Beijing after a bronze medal finish in the 2004 Athens Games. The team is headlined by the usual NBA All-Stars, but this year's team is headed by Duke's Coach K with a team first approach. Here's the players' view on how they will compete against the best in the world and redeem the USA's basketball reputation in the Games. How do you think this group will do?

Venus ousts sister Serena for Wimbledon Championship

The Williams sisters have been two of the more dominant tennis players in the past few years, and today they squared off again in the Wimbledon Final with Venus coming out on top. This is only the second victory for Venus over younger sister Serena, and is "the seventh Grand Slam singles title for Venus Williams, who has also won the U.S. Open twice."

Former Sacramento & Duke star DeMarcus Nelson signs with Warriors

After playing 4 years at Duke, former Sheldon High School (Sacramento) star DeMarcus Nelson missed out on the NBA Draft, but has found a new home in Golden State after signing a free-agent deal for the summer. Nelson led the Blue Devils last season in scoring and was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. It should be interesting to see how he fares in the NBA summer league, as he has already practiced with the Sacramento Kings summer league team the past couple of summers.

Mariah has been a superstar for quite some time now and I don't know how many plastic surgeries she's had, but she looks good still. Nonetheless, she can't throw a baseball worth crap, but check it out for yourself.

Rivals Top 20 rankings assures you of legal trouble

Over half of the 2005 top 20, according to Rivals.com, have been involved in mishaps with the law, and some of them are repeat offenders. I guess these guys just think they can do whatever the hell they want because every major college program is jockin' em, but this is a discouraging trend that continues to grow as the media and internet perpetuate the stories of these athletes and make them out to be gods.

How much does race skew officiating? Apparently 3%

The NBA is comprised of a majority of African-American athletes and has prompted a Wharton professor to study the game and compile data about how officiating differs based on race. The study claimed that "during the 13 seasons from 1991 through 2004, white referees called fouls at a greater rate against black players than against white players." The impact was said to be that "the probability of a team winning is noticeably affected by the racial composition of the refereeing crew assigned to the game." Wow, this is compelling stuff, lemme know your thoughts.

Pistons even series 2-2 with 94-75 victory

Antonio McDyess went off tonight with 21 points as the Pistons slapped the Celtics around. Ray Allen scored 11 on 2-8 shooting and 7-9 from the line, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett struggled to get 16 apiece and they looked horrible offensively. The highlight of the game was the block made by Jason Maxiell, check it out on TarHeels' last entry. Who's gonna take this series? Lookin like a tight one down to 7 games.

Vince Young retiring after one season? Could have happened

Apparently the pressure was getting to VY just a bit after his 1st season in the NFL, so much so that he almost decided to retire, according to an ESPN article. I don't buy this for a minute, and I have no idea why VY would go on to say something like this in the offseason, because that's just an absurd idea. What the hell else is he going to do, break down game film for future Longhorn QB's?!

Eastern Conference Finals Preview

The Celtics and the Pistons will face off in the Finals of the Eastern Conference in a rematch of the best 2 teams in the conference. There's history in this rivalry, and it should be a great series, although I feel that the Pistons will be the victors in this one, unless the Big 3 for Boston can actually all have a good game together. Anybody seen Ray Allen recently?!

Lakers' Bynum to undergo surgery on injured knee

Andrew Bynum has been out for the entire second half of the NBA season with a gruesome knee injury that at first was expected to keep him out a max of 8 weeks. However, 4 months later the news comes in that arthroscopic surgery is required. Bynum will be out for the remainder of the season (duh) and most of the summer. How much will this affect the young and burgeoning center?

Lil' Penny back in the media!

Back in the day, Penny Hardaway was the next big thing and he was a sick baller. This led to a huge Nike ad campaign and the creation of Lil' Penny, but unfortunately for everyone Penny blew out his knee and was never the same player. Now, without his star, Lil' Penny has been forced to turn to drugs and alcohol. Check out the video.

Hedo gets denied as Pistons advance

The Pistons-Magic series came to an end a few days ago, but the big play at the end of the game was between Hedo Turkoglu and Tayshaun Prince. Prince, known for his defense, was beat by Hedo (who had a great series) but recovered just in time to block Hedo's game tying dunk attempt with under 15 seconds remaining in the game. Check out the video for the full clip. Crazy recovery speed!
