Federer Wins U.S Open Finals

Federer wins again! Federer completely dominated Andy Murray today 6-2, 7-5, 6-2. Murray has been looking good, but Federer is back to his old self, and had an entire day to rest. Murray's returns weren't the best, even standing way out past the base line. Federer used that to get a few angles in after putting down some wide serves. At the start, Murray looked really sluggish compared to his win against Nadal. Federer denied Murray with some powerful serves, showing that even though Murray is one of the best at service returns, Federer would still dominate.

The game was definitely not epic like the last Wimbeldon match, and a bit boring since it seems like Murray didn't bring his best game. Federer pretty much cruised through it. I had a lot more fun watching the Quarters and Semis.

Regardless, great game Federer! Huge props to Murray for sticking it through and doing his best at the end.

Federer and Djokovic Move on - Yardbarker Reppin at the U.S Open

Kinetic here reppin Yardbarker at the U.S Open in New York! Had my girlfriend and friends wear the Yardbarker t-shirt and hat, and we went around enjoying the tournament and talking to all sorts of people about Yardbarker. Strangely, i was only asked once about what yardbarker was, while all the girls in the group were asked many times.
We watched the Djokovic vs. Robredo match at Arthur Ashe today, and it was quite an amazing game. Robredo is a quick player who really moves around the court. He rarely every let a ball get past him without getting a firm set of strings on it first. Djokovic started the first set with a loss, but a very sportsmanship move. Robredo was at set point for the first set, and hit a huge serve to the outside. The ref called the serve out, but Djokovic believed it was an ace and gave the point away. Huge sportsmanship like move, and huge props to him. His challenges were usually only when it's REALLY close, and more times than not he got the challenge correct. Robredo put up a huge fight, and Djokovic more than once gave him huge props.
After that game, Federer played against Andreev in another crazy 5 set game. Federer was destroyed in the first match easily, and Andreev started making huge plays. Federer had a lot of unforced errors, everyone seemed a bit disappointed. After the first two long matches with tie breakers, seems like Federer finally woke up, but when he woke up Andreev kicked his game into high gear. They battled it out, and in the last 5th set, Federer pushed forward hard and Andreev lost a little steam. Federer to win it 6-7 (5/7), 7-6 (7/5), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
So after like 5 coats of sunblock, and 6 bottles of water, I'm back in Long Island blogging about the great event / toaster oven.
Here's a picture of a yardbarker hat in the stadium =)

All Stars Fantasy Football Draft Photos

Wasup Yard! This is kinetic here at the YB Headquarters, and I finally went through my photos from the Hall of Fame Fantasy Football Draft at Bimbos Club in the North Beach area of San Francisco, California.

It was a beautiful day, and a fantastic venue. Got off of work early and headed over to the city for the event. I have never covered a real event before, other than family friend's wedding (as a secondary for fun photographer), and I've definitely never shot photos in such a dark low lighting environment. There were A LOT of challenges I've never gone through, but my trusty camera bag had all the tools I needed.

I went with a 85mm F/1.4 and a 50mm F/1.8 for my Nikon D80, equipped with a SB-600 flash. I know, weaksauce, but the combination works great. I also brought along my Fisheye 10.5mm F/2.8 for some artsy fartsy top down shots.

The prep work wasn't too bad, and I just had a blast. I got a little tired of taking pictures of all the athletes sitting around, so I tracked a few of the 49'er cheerleaders to give you guys a little extra to look at in this thread.

Checkout all the photos in the original story, which will link back to my photostream.

I won't be live posting, but I'll be posting the photos shortly after! Keep updated with my article posts.

Hope you guys are ready for some kick ass photos ;)
