Earl Bennett? He gives me the Reggie Brown chills...

I heard the Eagles were working out a SEC receiver who is 6-1, 207 lbs who was considered a early 2nd rounder. Not too bad I suppose. Except the last time we drafted a 6-1 197 lbs SEC receiver, his name was Reggie Brown!! Keep your shrieks to a low roar, don't want to alarm anyone but this is a scary thought. Of course this is all speculation but I know that was the first thing that came to my mind as an Eagle fan who has endured year after year of subpar and pathetic receivers like Torrance "plays" Small, Todd Stinkston, James Trash, Fred-EX-football player, the list goes on and on and it doesn't get better. Boy do I miss the days of Irving Fryar, Fred Barnett, Calvin Williams, at least they made plays. Whatever, its likely this guy will never play for the Eagles but it concerns me to no end since the Eagles have no ability to draft receivers whatsoever. Goodnight, enjoy the tourney.

Larry Fitzgerald, Roy Williams, Lee Evans, are any of these rumors substantiated?

So many rumors, so many false hopes, So why do we listen? I've seen at least 50 rumors, per day, that the eagles are "furiously" pursuing a top notch receiver and dangling Lito Sheppard as bait. Now I would love one of these ideas to come to fruition. Guess what, none of these deals are going to happen. If the Cardinals were willing to part with the most talented young receiver for a injury prone cornerback and a crap shoot #19 overall pick, then sweet. Until it actually happens though, I'll just keep reading all of the stupid rumors who have no source but their own vast imagination. Eagles will contend this year, regardless of whether or not we land a top flight WR. We'll see. GO EAGLES

Does Mcnabb support Obama?

I found this to be an interesting question that hasn't been brought up that I know of. By all accounts Pennsylvania is usually a blue state which usually means an easy win for the Democratic party. Ed Rendell alluded to the fact that Obama would have difficulty winning Pennsylvania because of a strongly white conservative base that still is not ready for a black president. As far as I know, Donovan Mcnabb has not come out and thrown his support behind any candidate. I would like to assume he supports Obama for multiple reasons. First of all Mcnabb's hometown is Chicago, IL, which is the base of Obama's candidacy since he is Senator of Illinois. Second of all I've always pegged Mcnabb as a democrat, just based on his past views, and the fact that he is college educated. And of course the fact that they are black has to weigh heavily, regardless of whether or not we think that is important. I really would love to hear from Mcnabb on this subject, no matter who he supports, just to hear an athlete of his stature take a stance either way would be monumental and would give me an even greater respect for him as a man. I hold out minimal hope of this as I know the old saying of Mr. Michael Jordan: Republicans buy shoes too. Yes they do Mike, but having an opinion is our right, and anyone who is willing to exercise that right deserves all of our respect, no matter which side is chosen. So Mr. Mcnabb, and all athletes for that matter, Who will it be? Mccain, Clinton, or Obama?

Go EAGLES and GO OBAMA!,

Tom Brady: Irrogant Ass in desperate need of a beating...

Every time this guy talks the media eats it up like prime rib in front of a starving dog. So it drives me crazy how he can completely dis the Giants D, and nobody cares or notices. Plax makes a dumb prediction and gets killed by the media, and Brady responds in his condescending way and gets lauded by everyone. He basically talked down to Plaxico, like haha, you are so inferior to my greatness, now bow to me! This guy has the look on his face like he expects to win by at least 4 TDs. They may even crush the Giants, but it is my firm belief that if you are not a Patriots fan, root for the Giants. Who roots for the 12 pt favorite ever anyway? Thats no fun. Don't tell me you are rooting for history either, because it would be far more historic if they lost. How fun would it be to see that dumb smirk wiped clean off Brady's face, just like the Giants did to Romo. I am an Eagles fan so it is difficult to cheer for the Giants, but right now, somebody has to stop this team. GO Giants on Sunday, GO EAGLES FOREVER!!!!

Leave Tiger alone!

Jim Brown criticized Tiger for not reacting to Kelly Tilghman's "lynching" comment. As did a lot of the black community. Where is the outrage from one of the most influential people in sports you ask? It's not interested in this particular case. First of all, Tilghman is a friend of Tiger's. Tiger doesn't believe there was any malice behind the remark, and I believe him. The comment was probably in poor taste, but have we become such an uptight society that we must all react to every dumb thing anyone says every day? Come on people lighten up. I don't know Kelly Tilghman personally or in any way, but any person with a brain understands she's not a racist and just had a blonde moment. Uh oh, did I say blonde? Well I guess that makes me a sexist. I don't know where anyone else stands, but I support Tiger on this one. If he wants to react to something, how about supporting a political candidate. Maybe take a stance on the war in Iraq. If you're hoping to see our famous athletes take a stance on anything besides Adidas or Nike, don't get your hopes up. Money drives the world and it is rare to see anyone in the limelight with an opinion. I don't like it, but thats the way it is. Which is why I love Donovan Mcnabb's personality. He is as candid as an athlete gets, and sure I've disagreed with him, but just the fact that he is willing to speak his mind on important issues makes me respect him that much more. Thats all, GO EAGLES.

What should the Eagles do this upcoming NFL draft?

After this past season, it is clear to me that the Eagles need to do some tweaking to their roster, and it starts with the draft. Great teams build from within and then supplement that with smart free agent pick ups i.e. Troy Vincent, Jon Runyan, Hugh Douglas. The Eagles used to be the golden standard not too long ago with their philosophy of drafting well and making good decisions on how much to spend on certain free agents. Flat out the Eagles need a better strong safety, a successor to Brian Dawkins, overall just more depth in the secondary. All of the Eagles corners are short, and while I think Brown and Sheppard are great when healthy, and Hanson looks like a find, they could use a taller corner in the mold of a guy like Cromartie. We all know how that Will James experiment worked out. Different name, different team, same overhyped piece of garbage. I don't think theres as much of a need for wide receivers as other people do, not that I don't think it needs to be upgraded. I'm not interested in a rookie receiver, too risky and too much of a bust factor with early picks. If the Eagles go for a receiver it should be 3rd round and later or go get a Chad Johnson(anyone who buys that hes not going anywhere is foolish). We could use a better guard than Todd Herremans, he needs to replaced. I don't know if hes just not good at guard but that was a sore spot on the line. Defensive line could always use some depth, since Ramsey, Howard, and Kearse were ineffective at best. Juqua Thomas is much better as a situational rusher, though I believe Abiamiri will be the starter this year with his overall game improving. All things considered I don't think the Eagles are desperate at any position. They should be back to being contenders as long as they stay relatively healthy. Once again our hopes as fans will rest squarely on Mcnabb and Westbrook. Also it'd be nice if Dawkins and Sheppard could play a full season haha. Until next time, GO EAGLES!

Eli Manning : Ascending to greatness or next Kerry Collins?

He is becoming a great quarterback, no doubt about it, but can he finish what he started? I'd say unlikely. He could play a great game in 2 weeks and still lose by double digits to what could be the best team the NFL or any other league has ever witnessed. But to the point of whether or not hes going to continue his success for years to come, I think he will. He has command of this team, he knows hes the leader, and with Tiki gone he knows he has no more questions to answer from his teammates. They respect him, they trust him, and most of all they know he can carry the team on his back now. These playoffs have shown a lot about him. People did not believe he could win a playoff game, he did. They didn't think he could conquer the mighty Cowboys, he did. They didn't believe he could handle the cold in Green Bay, well, he did, and he dominated his counterpart like he'd been playing there his whole life. Whether or not he defeats the mighty Patriots is of no concern to me. He makes the NFC East that much more powerful, which is scary since only my Eagles missed the playoffs, and they were 8-8! Romo, Manning, a healthy Mcnabb, and Jason Campbell? Thats 3 pro bowlers and a guy who could join them soon enough. So Eli will leave Kerry Collins in the dust when all is said and done. Eli may not be the second coming of Peyton but he will be great no doubt about it. Goodnight, GO EAGLES.

Stallworth back to Philly?

Could there be a return trip in store for Donte stallworth in 2008? It is conceivable, but you have to wonder on what terms he left last year. I mean if The Eagles front office wasn't willing to beat the Patriots 1 year offer, why would we believe this year would be any different? I'm skeptical but I would be lying if I said I wouldn't love to have him back. He was the vertical threat we sorely lacked in 2007. I know some would say Kevin Curtis was our deep threat, but he was more of a slant and go guy, never really stretching the field. So while I would love to see Stallworth back in Eagles green, I'm not overly optimistic that it will ever happen. We'll have to wait and see. Eagles will be a playoff team in 2008 though, guaranteed. Well, if Mcnabb stays healthy, which I'll be honest is a enormous IF.

John Harbaugh, new Ravens Head Coach!

Congrats! This guy has certainly earned it. Hes a great young football mind with a ton to contribute, I knew he would get his chance sooner rather than later with the youth movement among head coaches these days. I mean just based on the way my Eagles special teams was a tragedy this year after he switched to being defensive backs coach. I hope he becomes a hell of a head coach. I despise the ravens but I think hes the right guy if you want to de-thug your team culture. I'd say this spells the end for Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs and Samari Rolle if I had to bet. The ravens whole team aura will be changed for the better. Harbaugh will be a Andy Reid disciple, a guy who does not deal with insubordination, and cuts ties with anyone who does not get with the program. At least I can hope that is how he approaches it. Love the guy as a coach, great service with my eagles, good luck to him and wish him nothing but success. GO EAGLES!

Sheldon Brown Vs Donovan Mcnabb? The CB has words for the QB...

Sheldon Brown says Mcnabb "threw teammates under the bus" with his play makers comment a week ago. There have been a rash of comments from Brown that suggest he is not happy with anything the Eagles are doing. But heres a thought Sheldon, how about playing better! I watched you get torched by a hobbled Plaxico Burress in the game that closed the door on our playoff run before it even started. Now I like Sheldon Brown, I like a guy who is not afraid to speak his mind, but the fact that his performance on the field has been sub par makes it easy to throw darts right back at him. When Mcnabb said we need play makers, he was absolutely right. Look at the defense! 0 defensive touchdowns. Look at the special teams! Eagles didn't have even one return past the 50!!! In this generation of Devin Hesters and Josh Cribbs, we can't find a guy who can break 1 kickoff or punt return?? This is madness! NO! THIS IS PHILADELPHIA EAGLES FOOTBALL! BOOF!(Thats the sound of me kicking you and the rest of the Eagles team in the ass because frankly I think you guys need a nice boot to the rear to get your mouths out of the media and back to talking about winning a super bowl.) So you can talk Sheldon, but please, can you try playing better? No one really though William James was gonna challenge you by the way. But maybe the rookie they bring in will, or maybe even Joselio Hanson. Nothing is guaranteed. GO EAGLES!

TO Crying???What did somebody make a "Tony Homo" comment?

TO has done it again. He brings attention to himself by bringing tears to his eyes. Boo freaking hoo. I didn't find anything really wrong with the way Romo played, or TO for that matter. But Eli Manning outplayed him, and the Giants won that game, they didn't get handed victory, they actually won. Eli Manning, welcome to manhood, I bet it feels good too, like eating a nice big cookie. Who'd have thunk it eh? Eli, the downtrodden, beaten, quiet fellow, defeating his flamboyant, smiling rival Romo. Good for him. As an Eagle fan, I'm pretty frightened at the possibility of a confident Manning for next year. Hell, this guy could take his team to the Super Bowl. Did any Giant think that was possible a month ago? So goodnight Cowgirl fans, hope all your dreams are crushed, you have a good team, and again you let it slip away with overconfidence. I laugh at all of you and look forward to seeing you boys in 3rd or 4th place behind the Eagles and Giants. GO EAGLES!!!!!!!
