Better Late Than Never: Late Round Draft Picks and the Teams that Love Them

Okay This is part 1 of a probably a 3 part nerdfest on draft picks. that I'm doing. I was looking up draft picks of all the 40 man rosters in MLB just to mostly find out if first round draft picks are really what it's all about. I was looking to see if being a first rounder really differed from like an 8th rounder. I found many many things along this way. This is the first part of all of this which concerns the late round draft picks that are in the MLB 40 man rosters. I compiled this with a lot of elbow grease and a lot of long hours. By late round I mean anything from the 20th round and later. I have two parts of this. Part 1 is a list of how many players had been drafted in the late rounds according to team(the team that drafted them) Part 2 is a look at the players and the rounds. I would've done it by overall pick but you see a lot of the overall pick and round stuff is a little skewered due to the additions of teams and what not. For example, Brad Ausmus was drafted in the 48th round by the Yankees in 1987. His overall number is below 1152, which is lower than Mike Jacobs whose overall number is 1156 but was drafted by the Mets 10 rounds lower(38th round). The skewering is due to the addition of 4 teams since 1987. Also this list only concerns players who were drafted in the 20th round and later. So anyways without further ado... more...
